A Runt Luna -
Chapter 39
Rory sat on the window seat in their bedroom growing worried. It had been hours and Kole still wasn't home. She was worried that he was going to avoid her. Rory shuddered at the thought, she didn't blame him for anything. She wasn't bothered being bitten, she only wished that they had talked about it first but she also knew that the wolf was in control the night before. He was the one that did this, not Kole.
"Rory, I'm home." She heard lan call out before hearing him close the door to his bedroom. Rubbing the sleep out of her eyes she got up, knowing better than sitting around letting these thoughts consume her. She decided to pass the time by doing housework, starting with laundry. After having collected all the dirties, and sorting it out she moved on to the kitchen, thinking about what dinner she could make. Kole loved Steaks and Potatoes; it was one of his favorite meals.
Rory had started to peal the potatoes, and got the watering boiling when she noticed the pink sticky note that Blue left her. She picked up her phone, trying to decide what she wanted to do about the situation. She wasn't able to come to a decision, once she heard the front door shut and smelt Kole enter the house her mind went else where.
"Rory." Kole called out, coming to stand before her.
The stood in silence, Kole's eyes kept flickering to her now bandaged neck causing her to shift with nerves.
"I am so sorry." Whispered, his eyes watering at the pain he caused his mate.
"Kole, it's ok." She responded. "Do I wish that we talked about it? Yes, but I also know how easy it is for the canine inside to take over." She reached to him putting her hands on his waist, and pulling him in for a hug.
"I don't know if I can accept your forgiveness, I don't deserve it." He shook his head, not allowing her to hug him.
"Do you see us splitting up?"
"What? NO! Of course not." Kole said perplexed at her question.
"Good. So what's the difference of being marked and committed now than in a few years?"
"Your consent."
"OK, well I am so happy to be marked at yours. Please don't make me feel bad about being blessed with this mark. All I wanted growing up was my mate. I had to watch others be marked and only could dream that someone would love a runt like myself. This mark, whether we talked about it or not, fills the hole in my heart. It makes both my fox and myself feel like we belong here. We belong to you just like you belong to me. So please, let me have this feeling."
Kole didn't say anything but nodded and let her pull him in for a hug. He kissed the top of her head but stop the guilt.
Rory bit her lip, deciding that it wasn't the best time to bring up the second mark. Not when she finally got understand why it was important for her to have the mark.
Unlike the night before, she woke with Kole still laying beside her. She couldn't help but relish in the warmth and comfort he projected. As much as she wanted to stay in his arms all morning, she knew she had to get up and get things done- specifically call Blue to meet up and she wanted to replace out for sure if she was pregnant or not. Not wanting to wake Kole up before his morning alarm, she quietly slid out of bed, wincing as he shifted in the bed behind her.
She walked past the living room, where lan was up playing a videogame, looking like he hadn't even slept yet; if the junk food wraps laying beside him and the beginning of bags under his eyes were anything to go by.
"Did you even sleep last night?" She frowned crossing her arms.
"No, I'm so close to defeating the game. I cant stop now." Ian said slowly, his eyes never leaving the TV.
"Ian, you can have thirty more minute, and then you are gong to bed." Rory frowned.
"Fine." lan said.
"Ian, I mean it." She said more sternly.
"Ok, I will."
Rory smiled walking into the kitchen and started to make some eggs. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the note from Blue. She knew she was going to keep pushing it away, so she picked up her cell phone and quickly dialed the number.
"Good morning sunshine." Blue greeted.
"Morning." Rory said. "Um, I was wondering if you were still in the area?"
"I am. Do you want to meet up?"
"I do... I think...um, yeah." She stuttered.
"Good. How about we meet at Edna's house, and I will bring by some lunch?"
"Yeah, that sounds good."
"Perfect, I will see you in a few hours." Blue said before hanging up.
Rory grabbed a plate from the cupboard and smiled when she heard the TV turn off and lan make his way to his bedroom. She scooped up the eggs and walked into the livingroom hoping to watch some TV before she had to get around for the day. She pushed around the eggs not entirely hungry but knowing that she may have be pregnant she had to keep her strength up as she could be eating for two.
