Chapter 32

I groaned and shook my head. "You never let me explain!" I hissed.

"Explain what? How you chose sarah the packs slut over me your mate and your children!" She hissed as her eyes rimmed with unshed tears.

"I never chose her!" I yelled raising my voice

"Then why are you engaged Caleb!" She yelled right back as a tear slipped down her rosy cheeks making me feel horrible.

"You're still the same pathetic guy from high school! All you do is play with peoples feelings. The only good thing that came from you was MY twins, if it wasn't for that I wish you'd never been my mate... I wish it would have been jake instead!" She screamed in my face. Suddenly her face paled as she looked up at me- all anger was replaced by guilt.

I shut my eyes and nodded.

My wolf thrashed inside wanting to rip Jacob apart, limb from limb. But I controlled myself and focused on the beautiful girl underneath me that had practically punched straight through my chest and pulled out my still beating heart and stomped on it until all that was left was a red gunk. Sappy? Yeah. But that didn't even cover what I was feeling.

"Caleb I-"

"The ring was for you." I interrupted her making sure to stare straight into her eyes. The same eyes I fell for in my senior year.

"I bought the ring the following week you left. I was hoping, wishing- praying even that you'd come back. I was planning on begging for your forgiveness and then asking for you to marry me." I chuckled. "A bit rushed but I just wanted you back. I wanted to prove that I was ready to committed to you." I shook my head and shut my eyes.

"Then I heard you were back and then I saw the twins... God Ari I was ecstatic, overjoyed.." I smiled remembering how I ran into Zoey in the woods and knowing Right away she was my little princess. And Joey... the way he held his head up and didn't back to me; in wolf and human form. I was so proud of my boy.

"I came back home after I went to your house And pulled out the ring. I was contemplating whether to ask you to marry me or wait until I gained your trust. I left it on the bed... and I guess Sarah found it." I shook my head once more before jumping off of ari and off the bed.

"But that doesn't even matter." I laughed humorlessly as I made my way to the front door "All you've wanted is Jacob." I cringed but turned back to see a pale Ariana with tears running down her cheeks.

Instinctively my body twitched to her wanting to comfort her but I controlled myself and quickly walked out of the room and towards the front door. I could hear her jump off the bed and stumble out of bed.

"Caleb!" She yelled as I rushed out of her house. I had to get out. I needed air.

"Caleb." She cried as I burst into my wolf midrun and left her behind. I shook out my fur and the sound of Ariana's voice.

I bought the ring for you

The way he looked at me when he ran out, so defeated... it broke me. I never meant to say that I wanted Jake to be my mate. I was just so angry and I snapped, I wanted Caleb to leave me alone and that was the way I thought was best.

my wolf grumbled pacing back and forth. She wanted to come out and look for her mate. To be him to forgive us. And I wanted that too, but I was scared. What if he rejected me... he has once.

"Mommy!" I quickly whipped away the tears and stood from the couch as the twins rushed inside tackling me to the floor. "Hey babies. " I smiled kissing the top of their heads as they started telling me about their day with Quinn, Mariah and Jake.

"Where's Quinn?" I frowned as the twins jumped on the couch. "I actually brought them." I breathed in as I took in my father with bags under his eyes and wrinkled clothes. "She told me." he blurted out. I quickly looked away and turned back to the twins. "Watch cartoons okay." they quickly nodded turning on the t.v as I made my way to my dad.

"I didn't know Ariana." he whispered running his fingers through his graying hair. "I know." I replied keeping my eyes down on my feet. "I can't - she never- twenty one years....." he blubbered out as tears made their way down his cheeks.

Instinctively my arms wound around his waist as I leaned my head against his chest hearing the fast beat of his heart, "I love you ariana, no matter what you're my daughter." he whispered hugging me tightly against his chest. Tears once more made their way to my eyes my fingers grabbed fist fulls of his shirt. "You'll always be my dad too."

I heard him let out a breathe as he kissed the top of my head. "I was so worried you wouldn't want anything to do with me anymore." he whispered. I frowned and pulled away. "You're the one who taught me how to ride a bike, how to hunt, how to transform, how to be everything I am now. He was never there.... You'll always be my dad no matter what." I smiled as I stood on my tippy toes giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Now come on. You're staying here tonight." I smiled leading him back to the twins to watch Spongebob.
