It's been days since Marlon had come to this building and saved me from that disgusting nobleman. I felt a chill down my spine just thinking about that man's hands touching my body. That rancid and smelly scent of his breath against my ear. I could see the pure evil in his eyes. Marlon was amazing when he saved me. I didn't think he was capable of actually killing somebody for me. I still don't fully understand why he would go to such lengths to keep me alive. After he killed that man, he hid his body while I cleaned the blood. Then we had s*x.

I hadn't seen him since that but I'm assuming he doesn't want anyone being suspicious as to why he was spending so much time in this shack.

I shouldn't even call it a shack, just because it was small like one. It was much nicer than a shack; it had an actual bed and lighting. He kept it warm when it was cold out and cold when it was warm out. He even had a small crib made for Mateo, which Mateo loved. I wished more than anything that my parents could be here to meet Mateo. I couldn't help but wonder where they were and if they were okay. I hadn't seen or heard from them since the day I was taken to the slave farm. My heart hurt just thinking about it. Mateo began growing fussy in his crib and I knew it was probably around the time to feed him. My breasts were swollen from the milk building up. I lifted him out of his crib and sat with him cradled in my arms on my bed. I lifted my shirt and brought my nipple to his lips. I winced as he tugged my n****e to s**k the milk out.

I cradled him gently in my arms, thinking about the world I'm going to be raising him in. I felt guilty that I was bringing him into a world of slavery. A world that is so broken that it's almost not worth living. If he were to be discovered, he would be sent to a slave farm to be beaten, raped, and tortured. I couldn't bear to allow something like that to happen to my son.

Marlon told me I wasn't allowed to leave this shack because he didn't want me to be discovered by the others around the manor. I'm not really sure what he told them about my whereabouts, or what he told them about Mateo. He obviously couldn't tell them the truth.

Beatrice was probably thinking I was dead or something. Probably for the better that they think I'm dead. I'm not sure when I'll be able to return to my actual duties in the rose garden considering I now had Mateo to care for. Plus, Marlon told me that I needed to rest for the next few months or so.

I hated feeling as useless as I did. But Marlon provided me with books so that I could continue studying while I was stuck in the shack. He promised me that once I was well enough, I would be able to go to the commoner university and study for real. It was a lower grade university, not as good as the noble academy. But it had some courses that could prove useful for what I want to study and learn.

I started to hear familiar voices coming from outside the shack. I could feel my heart beginning to beat heavily against my chest. I stood up and placed Mateo back in his crib before making my way to the doorway. I pressed my ear against the door and heard the soft murmurs of Alex and Bob nearby.

They were discussing something I couldn't quite understand.

"You aren't the sole heir, Alex. So, stop acting like you are. It's pathetic." That voice came from Bob.

"Then stop acting immature. You almost got caught that time. If father sees you..." Alex sounded high-strung as usual.

"Father isn't around to see me do anything. He's never around anymore," Bob shot back.

That was weird because Marlon hasn't been with me; I couldn't help but wonder where he was if he wasn't with me, and he wasn't with the boys.

"Bob, just go back to the manor and let me clean your mess up. Per usual," Alex huffed.

Bob was quiet for a moment, but he didn't seem like he was going to argue.

"Fine," he muttered.

Bob's voice started getting quieter. I was relieved that they were leaving. I guess I wouldn't be discovered after all. I went back to accompany Mateo at his crib; I wasn't expecting the shack door to swing open and for Alex to be standing there.

He was staring at me dumbfounded for what felt like an eternity. I felt the heat rising into my cheeks and my features changing different shades of red.

We stared at one another for a long while.

"So, this is where he's been hiding you?" Alex asked; he was now staring around the shack with confusion clear on his face before his eyes landed back on me.

"You can't tell anyone I'm here," I heard myself pleading to him.

Now he just looked amused.

"I can't?" He asked in a mocking tone.

"Alex, if word got out about me being here, it could jeopardize everything your father has been working so hard for," I told him.

He frowned.

"My father? Why would it..." he began to say, but then Mateo started cooing in his crib and Alex's voice trailed off as his eyes finally found Mateo.

His frown deepened and he looked almost taken back. I could see the utter shock spread across his face.

"Is that...?" He began to ask; he was at a loss of words.

I had never seen him this shocked before.

"Yes," I confirmed his thoughts. "Your brother, Mateo."

"Mateo?" He asked as he stepped closer to us.

"Nobody can know about him," I told him.

I could only imagine what he must be thinking at that very moment. His face was almost unreadable as he continued to stare at Mateo with such dismay.

I felt my fingers getting clammy as he came closer to the crib; my main instinct was to step closer to Mateo to protect him.

"You're going to tell me that you gave birth to my father's child?" Alex asked through gritted teeth.

He was no longer shocked; he was just pure angry at that point.

"Do you have any idea how hard I've been working to become the sole heir? And one dirtball slave is going to ruin that for me?" Alex hissed.

"If anyone is going to ruin it for you, it's your brother," I shot back. "He's the one who's got your daddy's interest in the first place."

"Watch how you speak to me slave," he hissed between his teeth.

"Or what? You'll kill me? Go ahead and watch how fast your daddy writes you off," I told him; I wasn't afraid of him.

So far Marlon has proved that he wasn't going to allow me to die anytime soon; I'm pretty sure that includes at the hands of his sons too.

At least, I hoped it did.

"You think you're safe?" He nearly cackled. "You're anything but safe, slave. Trust me on that."

I had to keep myself from rolling my eyes.

"But I'm not going to touch you," he added.

I was surprised by that based on how angry he was. But at the same time, he wouldn't dare go against his father and I know Marlon would have his head if he did touch me. Now that I knew who Alex truly was, a greedy and selfish wolf, he seemed more intimidating, and his very presence turned my stomach.

Even my wolf was growing weary of his existence. I could feel her deep within me stirring uncomfortably, itching for him to leave. I had to ignore her.

"But I don't want Mateo here," Alex informed me as if he really had the choice.

The way he said Mateo's name made it seem like he just tasted something nasty and had to spit it out of his mouth. I groaned at the complete disrespect he had for my son. Then again, I wasn't really expecting anything else from him so I shouldn't be that surprised. "Where do you expect him to go?" I asked him, eyeing him carefully as he paced the shack back and forth.

His pacing made me grow even more uneasy; it was like he was hunting his prey.

"You're going to get him out of here," he said; he stopped pacing to face me. "You're both going to get the fuck out of here."

"What?" I asked, dumbfounded.

"You're going to leave the manner. I'll get the key to the cufflink and set you free. But the one condition is you take off with the baby slave and you don't return. You don't even look back. You don't even think about this place again." He paused. "Do we have a deal?"
