Born Mine
Chapter 54

I enjoyed talking with Amy. She was fun to be around and she told a lot of

embarrassing stories about Darius from his childhood. She was very open with me and I knew that she would be a great friend if I gave her the chance. We spoke about everything and anything from our childhoods to hobbies. We spoke for so long that it wasn't until someone knocked on the door to call us for dinner that we realized how much time had gone.

"You are such an amazing person, Leindra," she said as we stood to our feet. "If only we met earlier. I told Darius to claim you earlier but he wouldn't."

"Don't tell me you're on the train of people who believe he owns me just because of a mate bond," I rolled my eyes and she laughed. "I don't know why he is hell-bent on acting like a possessive caveman. I would honestly just prefer if he tried to woo me the right way, you know, instead of acting like I'm some kind of property."

"Do you blame him though?" she asked as she grabbed a pair of slippers. "After what happened all those years ago, he was bound to behave this way. You of all people should understand."

She said the words so casually like I was supposed to understand but my brain kept drawing a blank. She spoke as if I knew Darius or had met him before but as far as my memory served me, the first time I met Darius was outside the bar when I returned. I had never seen or heard about him before that.

Amy continues grabbing stuff oblivious to the inner turmoil she just caused within me. It took her a full minute to realize I hadn't spoken. She turned to me and analyzed my expression carefully before folding her arms over her chest.

"Did I say something wrong?" she asked. "You look a little pale, do you want me to call the doctor?"

"What do you mean by what happened those years ago?" I asked but she stayed silent. "Is there something I'm forgetting? As far as I know, this is the first time I have met any of you. What aren't you guys telling me?"

"I don't think I'm the best person to tell you that. I think you should talk to Darius later. He was more involved in everything than we were. He will be able to answer your questions."

Although I wanted answers immediately, I decided to be patient. It was only a few minutes for dinner then I would be able to corner Darius and demand answers. I doubted that Darius. would freely give them to me but I decided I was not going to take no for an answer even if it meant having to play dirty. I wasn't above manipulating and scheming to get what I wanted especially when it concerned me.

Amy was quiet the entire walk to the dining room. I could tell that she was thinking about what had just happened and whether or not she had said too much. I was also quiet but not for the same reasons she was. By the time we got to the dining room, she rushed into the first available seat so quickly that she didn't have time to realize it was right next to Ian. By the time she realized, it was too late to stand so she crossed her arms over her chest with a scowl.

The only other seat was right next to Darius at the head of the table and I slowly made my way over to him. His eyes ran over my body hungrily and I felt my cheeks burn pink. I sat next to him without glancing his way and his hand leisurely came to rest on my exposed thigh.

"I'm not sure if I want you to wear more dresses or if I never want to see you in a dress in public again,” he whispered into my ears. "This looks completely obscene on you but it would look better on my bedroom floor."

My cheeks heated and it didn't matter that he fucked me a few hours ago, I was ready for him again. I turned away from him because the last thing I needed was for him to get me hot and bothered on the dining table.

"We need to talk," I changed the conversation without meeting his eye. "There's something important about-"

"Do you ever read the room?" he cut me off. "Can I just have one dinner without talking about war and important issues? We can have the conversation after."

Even though I didn't want to give in that easily, I went quiet. Amy glanced at me and I shrugged because I truly didn't know what was going to happen. She offered me a soft smile of assurance and went back to glaring at Ian. It was just the four of us at the table but it truly felt like a million people because of the tension swirling between Ian and Amy.

Darius either didn't notice or care about it and I would have bet my life that it was the latter. I decided to focus on my food because the quicker I ate, the quicker I was to get the information I wanted. I was shoving pasta in my mouth when I felt Darius' hand trail higher on my leg. I choked on my food and all eyes went to me.

I muttered a small apology and downed a glass of water while glaring at Darius who didn't even spare me a glance. He acted like he didn't know what he had just done or rather tried to do and instead kept trailing his hand higher. I squeezed my thighs shut to prevent him from moving anymore. He chuckled under his breath and wedged my thighs open. I glanced up worried that Amy and Ian would notice but they were too invested in their conversation to realize what was happening around them.

"They'll smell us," I protested but Darius didn't care; he slid his hand to where I needed him and hissed when he realized I wasn't wearing any panties. "Darius, we are at dinner."

"Ask me if I give a shit," he whispered. "If you're quiet and graceful, they won't hear or smell a thing. Do you think you can do that?"

Staying quiet proved to be torture because Darius did not go easy on me. He teased and tortured me until I was biting down on my lips to prevent myself from moaning. He brought me close to an orgasm and then would stop all movements until the urge died down. I wanted to pick up my fork and stab him but the torture was so glorious that I wanted more.

It was a wonder no one had picked up on anything but I figured that Amy and Ian were too locked up in themselves to notice. I was so sure that Darius was going to make me orgasm finally when he suddenly pulled away and righted my dress. Through my lust- filled haze, I was able to gather my bearings and I turned to him with scrunched brows. "Jared is here," Darius announced and Ian's head snapped up to him. "Let him in and take him to the living room. I will meet you both there."

"What about our talk?" I asked once I managed to gather my bearings. "You said we would have it after dinner."

He grabbed my chin so I was staring directly into his eyes. "Be a good girl and wait for me and maybe you will get more than your conversation."

Before I could utter any words, he stood to his feet and walked out of the room. Ian followed suit and soon it was just Amy and I. She looked flushed and flustered so I raised a brow at her. Her cheeks heated and she turned away from me.

"Do I want to know?" I asked and she shook her head.

"Only if you're willing to spill on yourself," she teased. "Do you want to eavesdrop on them?"

"Of course."

She led me towards the living room that they were using while making sure to remind me to be quiet because werewolves had super hearing. Thankfully, the door was left ajar so their words were carried out of the room. At first, there was a bunch of yelling but I heard Celeste's name mentioned a few times.

"Is she that much of a threat?" I asked Amy and she nodded. "I hope they catch her soon. Lunarius needs a break after everything that has happened."

I was about to suggest that we leave when I heard something that caught my attention- my name. Despite Amy's protests, I made my way closer until I was directly behind the door.

"Don't you think it is time we tell Leindra everything?" Ian asked and the room fell silent. "She deserves to know what exactly she is walking into, don't you think?" "Leindra isn't ready for the truth. She tends to run away from her problems and if we tell her now, she will run away. I will let you know when she is ready."

It infuriated me that Darius was once again making decisions for me without asking first. I couldn't think clearly through my haze and despite every fiber in my body screaming no, I walked into view.

"What should I know about?"
