Chapter 65:
She responded politely, though without much interest, “Hmm, thank you, Fletcher.”
Etta’s reaction was the opposite.
Her eyes went wide, her mouth dropping open as though she could catch flies. She had not expected Fletcher to be so generous. These were the very items she fantasized about owning.
Jealousy surged within Etta as she glanced at Harlee, who appeared utterly unimpressed.
“That wretch must be pretending not to care!” Etta thought.
She believed these things would have been hers if it weren’t for Harlee’s sudden return.
Couldn’t she somehow make Harlee disappear for good?
Etta was seething inside.
Skyla, standing tall, turned her attention to Brenton nearby.
“Brenton, you must have brought something for your younger sister. You didn’t come empty-handed, did you?”
Brenton looked down, his movement toward the house indicating his response.
“We’ll discuss it inside.”
“Oh, you silly boy, you could show a little excitement at meeting your sister,” Skyla scolded lightly.
“Harlee, don’t mind him.
He has always been somewhat aloof, even as a child.”
Harlee was actually quite okay with that. She found it refreshing that, unlike those who seemed friendly but betrayed you behind your back, Brenton wore his emotions on his face, making him much more honest.

The Sanderson family gathered at one table, while Etta and her mother, along with the family maid, sat at another. Though Lonnie and Skyla showed special care for Etta, treating her almost like a member of a wealthy family in their daily life, they never included her in the family business discussions.
Etta was, after all, not a true Sanderson.
Lonnie’s voice took on a grave tone as he addressed Brenton.
“Brenton, I asked you to pick out a few companies for your sister to choose from.
Did you manage to do that?”
Brenton nodded, took out a document, and laid it on the table, sliding it toward Harlee.
“Here’s the gift I’ve prepared for you.”
Harlee looked at the document before her, feeling a touch of surprise. Noticing the subtle frown on Brenton’s face, Harlee could almost guess why he seemed a bit impatient with her.
“Harlee, take a look and choose the company you prefer.
Don’t worry about the experience. I will ensure a top team is there to support you,” Lonnie explained.
Harlee nodded and then opened the folder. It contained details of over 20 publicly traded companies, each with a capital of more than a hundred million.
Assigning such large enterprises to a beginner like her?
Watching Harlee take her time without making a choice, Lonnie figured she was unsure about which company to pick.
“Let me help you choose.”
