Chapter 7:
“I’m sorry, but I can’t lend you my helicopter,” she said, realizing the elderly man needed medical care within an hour, or he might not make it.
Before the man could say anything, a young woman next to him, dressed in a fancy designer dress, interrupted with a mocking tone.
“You’re just going to sit there and watch him die? What kind of heartless person are you? Can’t you see how serious this elderly man’s condition is?”
“Enough, Lindsay,” Rhys Green snapped.
His irritation was clear as he shot a frosty look at Lindsay Morgan.
Harlee felt annoyed by Lindsay’s outburst.
However, understanding the seriousness of the situation, she pushed her frustration aside and explained, “My helicopter doesn’t have enough power to carry all the people and equipment you have onboard.
And its speed isn’t enough. The elderly man won’t survive the journey.”
Rhys’s face went pale as he absorbed Harlee’s words.
He asked, “Do you have any idea to fix this situation?”
“Well, my helicopter has a top-of-the-line system. I could switch my operating system to your helicopter, but why should I help you?” Harlee’s eyes moved to Lindsay, and her meaning was unmistakable. She didn’t mind lending a helping hand, but after Lindsay’s rude comments, she saw no reason to offer assistance.
Feeling the sting of Harlee’s gaze, Lindsay jumped to mock her.
“What are you staring at? If you know how to help, then get to it! Helping the Green family would be the best luck you ever had. Just the reward alone is remarkable, let alone the favor…”

Harlee’s stunning looks filled Lindsay with a sense of threat. Lindsay feared Harlee would catch Rhys’s attention, silently hoping Harlee would rub him the wrong way.
Harlee turned away in silence, clearly getting ready to leave. Seeing this, Rhys shot a glare at Lindsay and quickly stepped forward to stop Harlee.
“Miss, please excuse her rudeness. I sincerely apologize on her behalf. This is a matter of life and death. If you help us, I’m willing to pay you ten million dollars.”
Harlee raised her eyebrows.
She had spent years working under an alias for the Gill family without charging and had barely saved any money. Now that she wanted to replace her birth family, whom she had heard were struggling financially, Rhys’ offer could really help her out. Suppressing her annoyance, Harlee nodded.
“Alright, I’ll help.”
Rhys’ face visibly relaxed, and he quickly wrote a check for ten million dollars, handing it to Harlee. She took it and moved to her storage compartment to get her toolbox. With her high ponytail swinging behind her, Harlee expertly began taking apart her helicopter’s control panel. She calmly installed the new system into Rhys’ helicopter.
Her movements were quick and precise, showcasing her skill and experience.
Rhys couldn’t take his eyes off her, his curiosity growing by the second. Lindsay noticed Rhys watching Harlee intently and felt jealousy flare within her. She hastily stepped forward and tried to grab the wrench from Harlee’s hand.
“Do you even know what you’re doing? If you break something, you won’t be able to afford the consequences! Are you just trying to steal something from us? I’ve seen people like you before, pretending to be skilled but only here to take advantage of us! Rhys, we can’t trust her.
