Chapter 9:

“Mr. Green, the ward is ready. The operating room and the doctors are standing by.

Does your grandfather have any undisclosed medical conditions or drug allergies?” a doctor asked in a foreign language as they pushed the elderly man toward the operating room.

Upon hearing this, Lindsay lifted her chin with pride. She shot a scornful glance at Harlee before replying with a confident smile, “No, his grandfather doesn’t have any.

He’s always eaten healthy and has never been allergic to seafood.”

The doctors exchanged confused looks at her response. What did seafood allergies have to do with anything? But Lindsay remained quite sure of herself and continued, “I’m the future granddaughter-in-law of this old gentleman. You must save him, or I’ll hold you accountable.”

The doctors’ faces darkened.

Even though the Green family was rich and powerful, Lindsay’s arrogance was over the top. Rhys misinterpreted the doctors’ expressions as signs that his grandfather’s condition had taken a turn for the worse.

Noticing Rhys’ anxious expression and then glancing at the two-million-dollar check in her pocket, Harlee couldn’t hold back anymore. She took the medical records from Rhys and spoke fluently to the doctors.

“This woman does not speak for Mr. Green. Old Mr. Green has severe diabetes along with myocardial ischemia, which could affect his healing.

Also, he is allergic to penicillin, so please be careful with any medications.”

Mistook Her For Someone…

After finishing her words, Harlee handed the medical records to the doctors. The doctors understood immediately, seeing that the details matched her explanation perfectly. They nodded in gratitude, giving Harlee a thumbs-up and showering her with praise.

“What do you think you’re doing? Do you even grasp this very language? Do you want to put Rhys’ grandfather at risk? This is no time to show off.” Lindsay’s face fell at the doctor’s words as she realized her translation had been full of mistakes, making her look foolish.

Grinding her teeth, she shot Harlee a hateful glare, twisting the truth to cover her own errors.

Harlee couldn’t help but laugh at the irony of Lindsay’s accusation. With a smirk, she retorted, “Who’s really showing off here, misinterpreting critical medical history and drug allergies as seafood allergies? Conditions like diabetes and heart issues increase surgical risks by a mile, and ignoring a penicillin allergy? That’s potentially lethal. If anyone here could cause a fatal error, it’s you, Miss Morgan. Just a few mistranslated words and someone could die.”

Harlee’s words turned Rhys’ face grim.

He cast a cold, scornful look at Lindsay. If Harlee hadn’t joined them today, he doubted his grandfather would have survived with Lindsay’s misleading translations.

Just the thought of it made Rhys shudder.

His fists clenched, and his gaze turned as hard as ice. It seemed he had to teach the Morgan family a lesson.

“Rhys, you have to believe me! I was translating accurately. It’s this woman who’s making up stories! The doctors hadn’t even asked about diseases or allergies. She fabricated everything. I didn’t make any mistakes. Trust me!” Lindsay’s face flushed a deep red with unease as her poor translations were pointed out. She frantically clutched Rhys’ sleeve, tripping over her words in desperation.
