Chapter 97:

“I might have caught a cold.” He lifted his arm slightly, deliberately showing the bandage.

Harlee asked, her tone softening slightly, “Is it serious?”

Rhys smiled faintly, pleased.

“Just a minor scrape. It looks worse than it actually is.”

Not wanting the conversation to end, Rhys casually asked, “Are you out with friends, Miss Sanderson?”

“Something like that,” Harlee answered.

Just as Rhys was about to ask about Brixton, Hamilton returned and interrupted.

“Mr. Green, Aaron requested a detailed discussion with you upstairs.”

Rhys turned to Hamilton, his expression now carrying a quiet but unmistakable threat.

Hamilton felt a chill run down his spine under Rhys’ warning look, belatedly realizing his timing couldn’t have been worse.

But Rhys’ upcoming talk with Aaron was significant.

“Mr. Green…” Hamilton’s voice lowered as he tried to urge Rhys to meet with Aaron as soon as possible.

Unaware of the brewing tension between the two men, Harlee was anxious to meet Matteo and said, “I need to handle something, so I’ll be leaving now.”

“Alright,” Rhys replied, his voice subdued.

“If you’re available later, I’d appreciate the chance to thank you for buying the brooch over dinner,” Harlee added with a parting smile.

“Sure,” Rhys responded with a slight, sweet smile.

Harlee walked downstairs. She surveyed the bar before finally spotting a man in the corner, donning a cap to hide his face. She approached with a smirk.

“Got tired of the overseas drama and came back for a new thrill?”

The man, Ritchie Diaz, looked up, revealing his rugged features.

At 6’3″, he looked intimidating with his piercing eyes.

“Well, I needed to dodge some heat in Mechuique, so I thought I’d come hide out with you,” he said, scratching his head awkwardly.

Harlee gave him a quick look.

“You stole the royal wedding ring. Who else would they be after?” she asked casually, unconcerned about the potential trouble he faced.

Just last year, Ritchie had swiped a century-old painting from Taflua.

Taking a casual sip of her drink, she asked, “What’s the deal with Matteo? Why is he suddenly on Brice’s trail?”

“Matteo’s eyeing a deal in Uwhor and thinks you can help him snag it with your hacking skills.

Having been snooping about Quick Cameo, Matteo learned Janessa Studio had linked up with Quick Cameo, therefore, Brice, as an assistant in the Janessa Studio, was monitored. Matteo wants you to make an introduction.”

Harlee listened to Ritchie’s explanation while tapping on the table.

“Any possibility of pulling this off?”
