Chapter 99:

Ritchie pondered whether Harlee’s true persona could remain hidden.

He felt a slight chill on his neck.

Before Matteo could respond, Harlee added, “Let’s not rush into any agreements. Why not start by discussing your plans with Quick Cameo?”

“Hack the research institute in Mechuique. I’m after their pharmaceutical research.”

This surprised Harlee.

“Pharmaceuticals? Didn’t you already have other ways to get them? Why the need for hacking?”

Matteo had a longstanding relationship with the Mechuique research institute, but the drug he now sought was also desired by his competitor, who had partnered with the institute. Since he couldn’t secure exclusive access, he planned to take it all for himself.

Matteo pursed his lips in silence for a moment.

“Once I have it, I’ll destroy it.”

“What?” Harlee’s face registered shock for the first time. She squinted, her tone mocking.

“So, you plan to drag both Quick Cameo and me down with this venture?”

Harlee now understood why Brice considered Matteo to be so dangerous.

Matteo was prepared to gamble everything for his objectives. Rumors had always circulated that Matteo would go to any lengths to meet his goals. No deal was too perilous, and no objective was out of reach. It seemed the tales were true.

He clearly stopped at nothing to achieve his goals. If he couldn’t get the results he desired, he would rather see it all destroyed.

Harlee thought it over. She owed Rhys a billion. Teaming up with Matteo could potentially erase her debt in one stroke.

Matteo ignored Harlee’s earlier remarks and asked, “Could you pass along my message?”

“Absolutely!” Harlee responded promptly.

“However, I can’t promise Quick Cameo will agree.”

“She will.”

Only now did Harlee truly start assessing Matteo.

Even she wasn’t sure if this deal could be done, yet he was so certain. What other tricks did he have up his sleeve?

Noticing her quiet contemplation, Matteo pressed on.

“You just need to pass on my message.

As for your compensation…” A bodyguard approached, carrying a suitcase filled with cash.

“Here is your payment, Miss Sanderson.”

Counting the money in the suitcase, Harlee fell silent. That was five million.

For the first time, she realized just how profitable delivering a message could be. It wasn’t that she was solely focused on money, but now she fully understood that Matteo’s capabilities exceeded her expectations. More crucially, this presented an excellent opportunity for her to get closer to Matteo and penetrate Uwhor’s business scene.

Harlee took a deep breath and offered a small smile.

“I will relay your contact details to Quick Cameo.”

“I wish you success in your collaboration.”

“Good,” Matteo replied indifferently.
