"Wow, it seems you were able to eat a few crystals after the last time we met," Rex said as he noticed Ralph's new stats compared to the last time they met. His strength, Agility, and Endurance had increased by four, two, and four respectively.
Ralph was taken aback. He had wanted to surprise Rex with his new boosts to his physique but how did the Kid know that already? Yeah, come to think of it, how did he always know everything about me like me telling my mum I'd call her back later "You....how do you always know so much?"
Rex let out a soft sigh "Phew.... You're gonna die anyway, so I should just tell you...is what you'd expect right? No way, I'm not gonna tell you still"
"Rex, go back! You can't handle him.... You're just a newly awakened, this guy is a professional assassin" Seraphina said as she stood in front of Rex, her eyes blazing with determination.
She couldn't afford to let someone she had just met and liked to die because of her. This was the second time they'd tried to kill her. Then, she'd suddenly unleashed her uncontrollable powers and gotten rid of the assassin and then...she was just a kid. She had no idea what would happen is she tried it now
Rex was at a loss for words but he quickly held her hand firmly but gently and stood in front of her "No need to worry bout me Sera, I need to take care of this, and besides... I have a history with him, so this is a fight to defend my honor" Rex said
Seraphina's eyes widened, her hands trembling softly from Rex's words. "R..Rex..." She whispered softly. The determination in his eyes made her freeze in shock and she felt a slight shift in her heart. Her eyes almost teared up but she quickly composed herself
"Thou hast just ignited a spark in the young Lady's heart through your honorable words!" Cronus chuckled.
"Wait what?! I didn't mean to..."
"Don't take your eyes off me, Kid!" Ralph's voice echoed, his voice sounding like that of a multitude.
Rex turned around and noticed multiple Ralphs surrounding him just like before "Heck! Turns out you're just a one-trick pony" Rex facepalmed. He turned around, examining the pitch-black void surrounding him. "How the hell does he keep trapping me in this illusion, have any ide Cronus?"
"Thou art less intelligent than thy opponent" Cronus responded
"Oh... So he can only trap those less intelligent than him" Rex sighed and then turned to the Ralphs surrounding him "Too bad they're still just as weak" A large grin played on his face.
"What did you do to him?" Seraphina yelled. Rex had suddenly become immobile and was just staring at blank space.
"Nothing much! He's just trapped in an illusion" Ralph smirked. The side-effect of his illusion was that when it was cast, his main body wouldn't be able to do anything so he'd be left vulnerable too, just like his target but that didn't mean he couldn't...
baaam!!!
Ralph didn't even know when he was sent flying backward by a punch that sent almost half his teeth flying away. "What the?!" He didn't even see anything coming.
"I said what did you do to him?!!!" Seraphina growled, her eyes flashing with a deadly blue glint. Her body was emitting an intense aura as she marched forward.
"What the?!!! What sort of ability is this?" Ralph groaned, clutching his cheek in pain.
BAAAM!!!
He was sent flying backward again, the punch this time even more powerful than the previous one. "Akk!" He coughed out a mouthful of blood. "What's this?!" He couldn't even react, he didn't even know when she moved nor did he see the punch coming.
Suddenly, Seraphina's body started glowing with a strange blue energy until her whole body was engulfed in it. It was like she was burning with blue flames, only that this wasn't flame. This was something else... Something unknown. The blue energy intensified, almost creating a giant avatar of herself but Ralph noticed something...
"Grrrr" Seraphina gritted her teeth. She was struggling to control herself... Her body was acting on its own and she was struggling against it. The last time she had gone wild like this, she had almost destroyed her father's mansion.
MEANWHILE...
"Yeah, that's the last of 'em" Rex smirked as he retracted his hand from the body of one of the fake Ralphs. "Damn it! He's so weak, I didn't even level up! Just 1500 Xps.
"Thou didst not expect much to gain from these mere clones, did thou?" Cronus asked in a mocking tone.
"Well....." The pitch-black void started crumbling and he was thrust back into the real world only to see a sight he didn't expect... His eyes widened in horror and his body went numb. Ralph's hands were firmly implanted in Seraphina's chest, piercing through and bursting out from her back.
Rex's world froze as Ralph's mocking laughter echoed in his ears. He couldn't take his eyes off the horrifying sight before him. Seraphina's lifeless body hung in Ralph's grip, her blood dripping down his arm.
"Is... this real?" Rex's voice came out as barely a whisper, his knees trembling. He wanted to believe it was just another of Ralph's illusions, but every part of him screamed that this time, it was different.
Ralph pulled his bloodied hand from Seraphina's chest, letting her body slump to the ground. He smirked. "You took too long, Rex. If you'd been a little faster, maybe...."
Rex snapped.
With a roar of fury that shook the air around them, Rex dashed toward Ralph at blinding speed, his fist already crackling with blue Aether. Ralph's eyes widened in shock at Rex's speed, but he quickly raised his hand, distorting the space between them once again.
Suddenly, the world around Rex shifted. Where Ralph had once stood, Rex now found himself surrounded by monstrous, half-blood Cerberuses, each one snarling with rows of jagged teeth and glowing red eyes. The ground beneath him was molten, and the heat was suffocating.
But Rex didn't even blink.
With one fluid motion, he tore through the nearest Cerberus with his Aether-infused fist, sending the beast's head flying as its body crumpled to the ground. Another Cerberus lunged at him from the side, but Rex sidestepped it effortlessly, ripping out its spine with a single punch. In less than a second, all the Cerberuses lay dead at his feet, the illusion shattered.
Ralph's face paled as he watched Rex break through his illusion with ease. "Impossible... how did he..."
But Rex was already moving again, his eyes burning with a rage that made Ralph's blood run cold. Desperately, Ralph waved his hand again, casting another illusion. This time, the world shifted into a dense forest filled with a swarm of feral animals, bears, wolves, and snakes, all charging at Rex from every direction.
Once again, Rex didn't hesitate. His Aether surged around him like a storm, and with a flurry of strikes, he annihilated every creature in his path. Each punch and kick tore through the illusions as if they were paper, and within moments, Rex stood alone in the destroyed forest. The second illusion shattered just as easily as the first.
Ralph's confidence faltered as he stumbled back, sweat pouring down his face. "This can't be happening... my illusions are supposed to be flawless..."
But Rex was relentless, his expression dark with fury as he closed the gap between them with terrifying speed. Ralph could feel the raw power radiating from Rex's every move, and for the first time, the assassin felt real fear.
"No more games, Ralph," Rex growled as he finally reached him, his Aether-charged fist raised high, impaling his hand through Ralph's head. He grabbed his brain from the inside and squashed it with much force that even an expert scientist would never recognize it anymore.
Ralph's limp body fell on the floor, his head open wide, without even realizing how he died.
"It's over!" Rex growled
