103 A Weirdly Shaped Wing

‘Damn, he really could move so fast.’ Blake cursed inwardly as he tried catching up to his huge gorilla friend that could travel the equivalent of his several steps with just a single step.

Blake had eaten four souls that he would have loved to take his time and enjoy them as they did have the sweet taste that he was looking for, albeit it was only a faint taste.

But remembering that he had to catch up to his huge gorilla friend and the fact that he had chasers on his tails, Blake didn’t have the luxury to enjoy them as he just shoved them into his mouth and started running away as fast as he could.

And not saying that Robus most likely had jumped away instead of solely running away that Blake had an even tougher time trying to catch up with Robus, who he could feel already quite a distance away from him by using the innate connection he had with the gorilla.

Despite seeing no more chasers behind him, Blake still used the method of sending nether to his wings in split seconds intervals so that he would still be moving fast enough that the other demihumans wouldn’t be able to catch up to him lest they have the method to go faster than him.

But of course, he got that method from the other humanoid demons, and he was still not proficient enough to use the method and keep it on all the time like the other humanoid demons.

And when one humanoid demon that had mastered the method perfectly and also have a stronger physique because Blake’s physique stat was on the lower side, added with the bat-like humanoid demon’s echolocation capabilities, Blake would still lose in the speed department.

While Blake was still focusing on maintaining the nether running through his wings so that he wouldn’t lose control of his own speed while also locating Robus’ direction, Blake suddenly heard a loud boom coming from behind him.

Curious about what had caused such a loud noise, Blake reflexively turned his head back to see what had happened.

.....

“Shit.” But Blake couldn’t help but curse as he saw that another humanoid demon had chased after him.

Although the humanoid demon was quite far away, Blake could make out that the humanoid demon had a bulky body and a strangely shaped wing on its back.

‘Must be another chaser with a deformed wing...’

Thinking how the humanoid demons seemed to have him always under their radar, Blake couldn’t help but think that the bat-like humanoid demon had a very annoying ability that he needed to take care of if he really wanted to get away from the humanoid demons.

He didn’t know how many humanoid demons out of the remaining 21 humanoid demons had the ability to increase their speed, but even speed was useless if the humanoid demons couldn’t locate where he had run to.

‘But I can’t even see that thing through all these trees blocking my way.’

‘How can I deal with him?’ The question popped up in Blake’s head, but in a situation where he still needed to keep on running with almost maximum effort, his mind couldn’t really do all the thinking as clearly as compared to when he was sitting or standing still.

So then his brain came up with another alternative plan that might work as the first one that he thought up wasn’t really feasible in the current circumstances.

‘If they have no more humanoid demons that could move fast enough to catch up to me, then it would be useless for them even if they knew where my location is.’

‘Besides, I don’t believe the bat-like humanoid demon’s echolocation has unlimited distance.’

‘Without them chasing close on my tail and holding my speed back, I would be able to lose them sooner or later.’

So with a new plan devised in mind, Blake quickly went and put it into practice as he drew another two sets of runes in his hand.

It wasn’t the mass marking spell and the myriad of darkness tendrils combination.

With only one enemy chasing after him, Blake decided to use a more surefire way of finishing the deed.

And it was the combination of Vera’s original darkness binding spell added with his new original dark earth spike spell.

The darkness-binding spell would prevent the bulky humanoid demon from moving or at least limit its movement while the dark earth spike spell would serve as the finisher.

Even if the humanoid demon looked bulky even from quite a distance away, the dark earth spike was man-sized.

And only huge demonic beasts were able to survive an earth spike stabbed to their bodies since it was only as huge as one of their limbs.

With a humanoid demon that had much or less the same size, width and length as the earth spike, the chance of the humanoid demon surviving being stabbed by the earth spike was quite close to none.

So after he drew his spells and held them in his hands, ready to be manifested, Blake purposely slowed down his speed so that the bulky humanoid demon would catch up faster to him.

Blake didn’t do it too obviously as he was afraid that the humanoid demon might have the brain to think that what he was doing was suspicious and it instead kept a distance from him.

So Blake just pretended that he put his full focus on running away, with a slowed speed of course, and patiently waited until he heard the loud noise that the bulky humanoid demon made every time it took a huge step forward and got close enough to him.

And with Blake slowing down his speed quite significantly compared to his initial speed, it didn’t take long for the humanoid demon to actually catch up to him.

Blake heard the loud noises the bulky humanoid demon made was already close enough to him to get into his spell range, and at that moment, Blake quickly decided to do what he had to do.

Taking another leap forward to break his forward momentum, Blake then landed on the ground in front of him stably and turned his body to his back to face the bulky humanoid demon that had been chasing him for quite some time.

Blake was ready to release his spells the moment his eyes locked onto the bulky humanoid demon as the dark earth spike needed to be manually aimed compared to Vera’s homing spell, but when Blake finally look behind him, he didn’t know what to do as something he could never expect had suddenly threw a wrench in his plan.

Blake first saw the bulky humanoid demon from afar and thought that it had another strange wing that couldn’t enable it to fly, only lighten its body.

And while running away, Blake didn’t check even once when the humanoid demon had gotten closer and closer to him.

But now that he had finally seen the bulky humanoid demon closely with his own two eyes, he could finally make out what was on top of the bulky demon.

It wasn’t a weirdly shaped wing, instead, it was another humanoid demon. One with greenish skin.

And another fact that Blake didn’t expect, the other humanoid demon on top of the bulky humanoid demon was a mage-type demon.

How could Blake know? Well, it was none other because he could see a set of glowing runes about to activate right in front of the greenish demon’s hands.

And that spell was surely aimed towards none other than him.
