179 Two Intruders

The forest green humanoid demon dashed out of the building he was in and quickly searched for the source of the loud explosion that he had just heard. And it didn’t even take him a second longer to replace out where the source of the explosion was coming from as more of them came from the same spot as the initial one.

Several more explosions, though lesser and not as resounding as the initial one, came from the front gate of the base, directly in front of the entrance of the building that the forest green humanoid demon had just come out from.

And instead of just hearing those explosions, now the forest green humanoid demon was finally able to see the dark flames that ravaged the building near the front gate of the base.

However, not only were those dark flames were very eye-catching, the existence of a house-sized gorilla that suddenly came out of nowhere and crushed all the humanoid demons coming his way was even more attention-grabbing than the flames.

The forest green humanoid demon’s eyes were locked onto the huge gorilla that he thought was the one that caused the destruction on his base.

But that didn’t stay that way for so long as a bundle of dark flames suddenly appeared from one of the explosion sites where there were raging dark flames, pulling all the attention and wariness that the forest green humanoid demon from the huge gorilla to it.

If it were just another bundle of dark flame, then the forest green humanoid demon would have ignored it and he wouldn’t even know if it exists. However, that bundle of dark flame was really not just an elemental matter.

Without even glancing at it, the forest green humanoid demon, who was a self-proclaimed expert of the demon mages, could feel the ridiculous amount of nether that was emitted from the bundle of dark flames.

The forest green humanoid demon then used his discerning eyes to lock on the bundle of dark flames. After just a few short 2 seconds, the forest green humanoid demon then instantly recognized what it was.

.....

‘It’s a variant...’

Even if there were so many variables in the demon realms where one couldn’t just simply assume something to be the thing that they were thinking of just from a single glance, that variability was much lesser in the first realm of the demon realm.

And seeing a walking demon clad in dark flames, spewing out dark flame fireballs incessantly everywhere, seemingly having an infinite amount of nether in its body and having no need of drawing runes or casting spells, then in the first demon realm, even the second one, those feats could only be achieved by a variant type demon.

And it was certainly not a weaker one.

‘Where did it come from?’ The forest green humanoid demon wondered as he himself made sure to scout around the area multiple times and made sure that not one of those variant type was found near his area, and the only thing that resembled a danger zone in his area was the actual forest itself filled with demonic beasts that were on the verge of evolving, equipped with their unreasonably strong bloodline powers.

He had been living there for so long and a flame type variant demon didn’t exist no matter which rock or boulders he upturned in the area. The variant type demon that was currently rampaging through his base seemingly came out of nowhere without any signs.

And added with the humongous gorilla that was as big as the houses that the humanoid demons were living in, somehow working together with said variant, which was even stranger than the fact that the variant just came out of nowhere.

The forest green humanoid demon had a lot of questions about what happened, but a variant type was considered a variant type for a reason, they were unreasonable and unpredictable, and there was no use trying to understand them completely.

Moreover, the fate of his base was more important than replaceing the answers to those questions.

Spreading his wings, the forest green humanoid demon quickly dashed to the variant type demon, being the most destructive of the two intruders, running around all over the base and spreading its dark flames everywhere the eyes could see.

The variant type demon certainly looked and felt dangerous, even to the forest green humanoid demon who had a high pride in his own skills.

But the forest green humanoid demon didn’t have any plans on making sure he got to eat the variant type demon’s soul. He just wanted to drive away the variant from his base and prevent it from wreaking more havoc, which he would do by giving a strong message to the variant to stay away.

And he would do it using his spells.

Upon reaching close to the variant by flight, the forest green humanoid demon stopped moving any closer and kept a safe distance between himself and the variant, a distance where he could cast a single spell without being interrupted by the variant.

Then before the variant noticed the forest green humanoid demon’s existence, the forest green humanoid demon began drawing his runes and cast several spells consecutively.

Due to the variant’s tendency to constantly move around, the forest green humanoid demon intended to stop or at least hinder the variant’s movement first by casting a wall made out of earth.

The ground a few meters in front of the variant then trembled slightly before a two-men-wide earth wall protruded from the ground and stood in the variant’s way.

With the variant’s sensitivity to nether, the variant was able to sense the nether gathering some distance in front of it before the earth wall even manifested itself, and when the earth wall had manifested, the variant type demon was able to stop itself from crashing straight onto the wall.

However, that was exactly what the forest green humanoid demon hoped to happen as his second and third spells now manifested themselves right under the variant demons’ feet.

The second and the third spell was actually the exact same spell, but the forest green humanoid demon necessarily cast them both at the same time to get a spell that was twice as strong as the original spell.

In fact, it would even be more than just twice as strong, just like how the darkness binding spell and the darkness spike spell that Blake cast had amplified each other and made more darkness tendrils come out of the ground.

The two spells that the forest green humanoid demon cast simultaneously at the same place and at the same time, amplified each other and resulted in a very strong binding spell that the forest green humanoid demon was confident that it could even hold down the house-sized gorilla with ease.

He had made sure not to underestimate the variant type demon and used double the usual amount needed to handle a demon of that size, even he thought that it would be slightly overkill.

However, the forest green humanoid demon overlooked something quite a bit significant when he chose to cast those two spells. And that was the element of the spell that he had cast.

The dozens, almost hundreds of rope-like roots sprouted from the ground beneath the variant’s feet, ready to latch onto the variant’s main body, no matter how it was shaped, as there were thorns on the body of the root, making it possible for the roots to latch onto even round surfaces.

Unfortunately, the scene where the bundle of dark flame finally stopped moving when the roots latched themselves into it never came to the forest green humanoid demon’s eyes as the roots didn’t even have a chance to latch onto anything.

Heck, they couldn’t even manifest themselves properly.

As if the dark flame that surrounded the variant was able to even burn the raw nether itself, the roots that had just manifested instantly disappeared the moment it was about to manifest, making it seems like the dark flames had consumed the nether that was about to form as those roots.

And just like that, the two root binding spells that the forest green humanoid demon had cast simultaneously were gone, consumed by the dark flames and leaving nothing behind as if nothing had really happened.

With such a bold move to restrict her, of course, the variant would instantly notice the arrival of a guest. And a quick glance to the side was all that it took for the variant to notice the forest green humanoid demon standing some distance from it with his wings spread wide open, ready to take off and get away from the variant demon that was a bundle of dark flame.

Just like how the forest green humanoid demon didn’t hesitate at all to throw several spells towards the variant, so did the variant type demon doing the same and instantly threw about a dozen dark flame fireballs to the forest green humanoid demon to repay the favor.

The forest green humanoid demon could have cast an earth wall to protect his front before thinking about his next move under the cover of the earth wall that could probably take two or three hits of the dark flame fireballs.

However, the forest green humanoid demon saw how his roots had just been erased from existence without seeing the variant demon even putting in real effort, it made him think that the variant demon was much stronger than it actually looks.

So without even a sliver of doubt or hesitation, the forest green humanoid demon quickly flapped his wings and dodged sideways as fast as he could, getting as far away as possible from the dozen fireballs that were flying in his direction.

However, the shock in the forest green humanoid demon’s eyes couldn’t be more visible when he suddenly saw a few of those dark flame fireballs suddenly gaining consciousness and started following behind him to move sideways.

Just like how he was able to control his spells using his special rune.
