Chapter 66: A Strange Sound (1)

“And that’s all of them,” Blake said as he shot the last wolf’s head with a point-blank range darkness bullet.

The fight with the 4 wolves was essentially over the moment two wolves got grievously injured by Robus’s attack and the other two remaining wolves got their bodies stuck in Blake’s binding spell.

The one that had its spine broken by Robus had become a cripple the moment its spine snapped into two and the one that had its ribs broken and punctured its organs lost most of its strength.

With it being unable to run away at its full speed, Robus just ran after it and quickly caught it with his own two hands.

The wolf tried to send another electric shock toward the huge gorilla, but just like before, just one wolf wasn’t enough to do anything to Robus equipped with his dark earth armor that absorbed most of the attack.

The upgraded earth armor, the dark earth armor did more than the original earth armor as the dark property of the armor had an absorbing property that weakens the wolves’ bloodline power attack.

If not for it, then the five wolves’ combination attack would be much more dangerous to Robus as the armor would be more brittle, easier to destroy, and he would also be stuck in a paralyzed condition for longer.

.....

It was truly unfortunate for the wolves, but even if Robus didn’t have the dark earth armor, nothing too dangerous would really happen to him as Blake would be ready to cover him and fill up his weaknesses.

Just like what just happened, the moment there was a chance that he could take, Blake instantaneously cast 2 spells to incapacitate the two wolves that were caught off-guard by Robus’ sudden moves.

Resulting in the four wolves being defeated in just a couple of minutes with minimum effort from the two demons that had spent most of their days traveling the forest killing almost everything in their sight.

With just 4 spells, 2 darkness-binding spells, and 2 darkness bullet spells shot at point blank range, Blake had finished the two wolves that were unscathed before.

Although Robus did more than just a few swings of his hands to finish the other two wolves, he still didn’t take more than 3 minutes to do it.

The group of the demon beast and the humanoid demon had been fighting everything in the forest almost every single day non-stop.

Not only their teamwork was top-notch, but their experience in dealing with different kinds of creatures and how to replace the gaps in their defense and use them to defeat said creatures had also gone up by a lot in the past few weeks.

And added with Blake’s new one-shot spell, their strength became even stronger than before.

But of course, the two, especially Blake, didn’t feel that he was the strongest in the forest and felt like his fighting style and strategies were already perfect.

He evaluated each battle that he had, including the one that he had just done, and tried to think of ways to improve it.

And after rewinding the earlier fight, Blake found some mistakes and possible dangers that might occur due to the strategy that he picked.

“Sorry, for letting them hit you for a good while back then,” Blake said as he walked over to his friend, the huge gorilla.

Blake felt bad for letting the wolves gang up on Robus even when they had an unknown bloodline power. But he thought that he really didn’t have much choice.

He did have a choice to fight together with Robus, but without the surprise element that he had by hiding while Robus was surrounded by the wolves, the fight won’t end as soon as what had just happened.

Robus then patted the armor on his face, the part where the Wolves tried to break earlier while replying, “Rrrr..” (It’s fine. I am not really hurt. They are just annoying.)

Seeing that his friend was really fine about it, Blake nodded in understanding and didn’t say anything else to Robus.

But in his mind, he thought to himself, ‘I should create a new spell that could help me mark a lot of targets at the same time.’

‘If I could mark all four wolves at the same time, then it would also be a very quick fight.’

‘Although their agility was quite good, it was nowhere near the birds. The myriad of darkness tendrils spells should be able to get them.’

Blake then tilted his head to the side, churning the gears in his mind.

‘Firing the marking spell manually one by one takes too much time. And the speed of the marking spell was considerably slower than the speed of the darkness bullet.’

‘It would be hard to hit a lot of targets one at a time. The low leveled boars are fine since their movements are very predictable. But if I were to fight stronger, faster, and possibly more intelligent demonic beasts then I will be surrounded by them first if I have to mark them one at a time.’

Blake then imagined himself fighting another group of the agile monkeys, and this time there were at least 10 of them.

Just imagining how hard it is to hit three of them with the marking spell, Blake then decided,

‘It seems that I really need to make that spell.’

‘But for now...’

Blake then scanned his surroundings and found five floating dark orbs around him.

4 of them belonged to the smaller wolves while 1 of them belonged to the huge wolf that he and Robus killed using Blake’s new one-shot attack which was used in a surprise attack.

And of course, Blake’s eyes were instantly glued to the huge wolf’s soul.

Blake had been craving another strong demon’s soul for quite some time now, and the huge wolf seemed to have been strong enough to have a very savory tasting soul based on the fact that the small wolves were much stronger than the ordinary wolves.

He wanted to walk over right this instant and gobble the huge wolf’s soul into his stomach.

However, he stopped himself from doing so as he thought that Robus did most in the fight against the wolves earlier.

Fortunately though, as if sensing what Blake felt through the connection they had with each other, Robus opened up his mouth.

“R, Rrr” (You can have it, the huge wolf died because of your spell in the first place.)

Blake turned his head toward Robus when he first heard his voice, but after Blake actually heard what Robus was saying, Blake’s face quickly lit up in excitement.

“Really?” He asked with a smile reaching his own ears.

“Thank you!”

But before Robus was even able to answer him, Blake already moved his feet and ran to the dark orb that was floating above the huge wolf’s body.

Without waiting for anything, Blake grabbed the soul out of the air, looked at it for a full second, and wondered how it would taste before quickly putting it into his mouth.

And just like he had expected, the taste that spread from his stomach to his whole body was simply pure bliss.

The feeling that he had been craving for quite some time, Blake finally got it. And now, he was enjoying it to the fullest.
