From Hatred to Passionate Love
Chapter 23: If I Can’t See You, I’ll Kneel and leave

Penelope's eyes started to well up with tears.

"Are you that desperate for money?" Kelvin stared at her. "Desperate enough to pick up trash and sacrifice your dignity?"

"Yes! I need money! What is dignity? What is pride? I lost all of that the moment you threw me into the psychiatric hospital! Just by staying alive, I have to put in much more effort than others!"

"You are Mr. Davis, high and mighty, worth billions. Of course, you would never do something like this. But I'm just an ordinary person. If you tell me to roll, I'll roll. If you tell me to walk to work, I'll earn some bus fare. Is that not allowed?"

"I know you would eventually replace out, but compared to your anger, I'm more afraid of the days without money!"

Penelope quickly wiped away a tear and squatted down to pick up the scattered bottles.

"Stop picking them up!" She didn't listen.

"Penelope, I'm telling you to stop!" Kelvin grabbed her and lifted her up.

"Let go of me!"

Kelvin kicked away the bottles blocking their path and threw Penelope into the car.

Ryan looked panicked: "Mr. Davis, Mrs. Davis..."

"Get out!" Kelvin said in a threatening voice.

"Yes, sir." Ryan hurried out.

"Pick up all her broken bottles!"

Ryan: "... Yes, Mr. Davis."

When the boss fights, the assistant suffers. Getting kicked out of the car in the middle

of the night was bad enough, but now he had to pick up trash.

Kelvin sat in the driver's seat, personally driving, and suddenly stepped on the gas pedal.

Penelope's head almost hit the windshield.

She quickly tastened her seatbelt. With this speed, she wouldn't be surprised if her life was in danger. She couldn't die.

Before, she couldn't because she had her parents. Now, she had to live even more, because she had a child!

"Slow down... Ah!" Penelope didn't dare to open her eyes. "Kelvin, something bad is going to happen!"

Kelvin remained silent, gripping the steering wheel tightly, overtaking cars continuously, forcefully giving the sedan the sensation of a race car.

Penelope was constantly being affected by inertia. Until they reached The King Manor, Kelvin finally hit the brakes.

Due to excessive speed, he couldn't stop in time and the tires screeched against the ground as the car headed towards the steps.

"Ah!"

His body jerked forward and then slammed back onto the seat. The vehicle stopped

just a few centimeters from the steps. Penelope broke out in a cold sweat.

She weakly hopped out of the car and ran to the side to start vomiting.

Kelvin coldly looked at her. "You're so fragile."

"I...I get motion sickness!"

"Seems like it's not your first-time vomiting." He squinted his eyes. "What's going on?" Penelope's heart skipped a beat, afraid that he might suspect morning sickness.

So she quickly replied, "It's because the oats are too greasy, I can't handle them! The food at the mental hospital was bad, which caused my stomach to become sensitive to rich foods!"

Kelvin remembered Lily's oats and felt irritated. "Don't drink them anymore!"

"You said it!" Penelope looked at him. "Don't go back on your word."

"I said it!"

The oats were already problematic, and she frequently vomited. Kelvin worried that her body was being harmed.

Soon, he found another reason for himself. Penelope wanted him to punish her personally. How could she be defeated by a bowl of oats!

"Also, no more picking up trash!" Kelvin warned. "If I replace out again..."

"Do you think I want to do it?"

"Don't you just want to earn money for the car fare? Starting tomorrow, ride to and from work with me." Kelvin said. "Is that enough?"

Penelope was stunned, but walking would be better. At least she would be free and wouldn't have to watch his mood.

Kelvin took her silence as agreement. "Don't overthink it. If you get recognized, it's my face that will be lost!"

"... Not many people in the company know that we're married."

They had a secret marriage. Kelvin would never publicly acknowledge her. Everyone in LA was speculating about the elusive Mrs. Davis. What kind of stunning beauty was she?

Marriage into the Davis family, such a top-tier wealthy family, would guarantee a worry-free life. How fortunate!

Back in the living room, Jeff handed him a cup of coffee. "Mr. Davis."

He took a sip, still looking unfriendly. Penelope ignored him and rummaged through

her bag, replaceing another scent inside.

She casually gave it to Jeff. "Just made today, it can calm and aid in sleep, a little token of appreciation."

"Thank you, Mrs. Davis."

Kelvin's expression became even more unpleasant. Casually giving it away? She really had her ways!

"By the way, what about yours... didn't you throw it away?" Penelope asked. "Why did Timothy Foster say..."

Kelvin adjusted his tie. "How would I know? The janitor probably thought it was accidentally thrown away and put it back on my desk!"

"Oh... If you want a new one..."

"I don't!"

Kelvin forcefully put down the coffee cup and went upstairs.

"Jeff asked cautiously: 'Mrs. Davis, Mr. Davis seems to be in a bad mood."

"When has he been in a good mood? Every day is like menopause. Don't pay attention to him."

"You've gotten Mr. Davis angry again."

Penelope said almost speechless by the accusation: "He started it first."

However,...

Today, he was so angry but didn't do anything to her! That was quite surprising. Penelope took out her phone when it made a ding sound, and saw that it was from

Ryan.

"Mrs. Davis, this is the money from your bottle sales that I'm transferring to you.'

Seventeen dollars.

Penelope felt quite embarrassed since Ryan was the CEO's assistant and had a decent salary. Yet he was doing this kind of thing so late at night.

She decided to buy him a cup of coffee tomorrow and apologize. As she was about to

go to sleep, Fiona's voice suddenly came from outside:

"I want to see Mr. Davis, let me see him..."

"Mr. Davis! It's Fiona! You can't be so heartless to me!"

"I came to apologize, give me a chance..."

Fiona? Why is she here again? Kelvin just sent her home for reflection earlier today,

and now she couldn't hold back and came running back!

Outside the gate, Fiona was shouting while forcefully knocking on the door, demanding to see Kelvin.

What a joke, if she really stayed inside honestly reflecting, wouldn't that give Penelope the opportunity and time she needed!

She's not that stupid! If she had a good attitude, admitted her mistake, and acted cute, Mr. Davis would forgive her!

"Mr. Davis, if I can't see you today, I will kneel here and refuse to leave!"

Fiona stubbornly resisted, and even the security guards, who knew her, didn't dare to drive her away directly.

"Ms. Wright, please stop yelling. You're disturbing Mr. Davis's rest, and we can't afford

to take that responsibility!"

"Go and inform him."

"This..."

Fiona really knelt down with a thud.

The security guards were startled and didn't know what to do when Kelvin's figure

slowly emerged from the darkness.

He reprimanded: "What are you causing a scene for so late at night?"

"Mr. Davis!" Fiona looked at him with joy. "You finally agreed to see me!"

Kelvin frowned and said: "Get up."

"No, if you don't forgive me, I won't get up." She moved her knees and positioned herself in front of Kelvin. "I have reflected all afternoon today. I know I was wrong. I came here to apologize to Penelope and beg for her forgiveness!"
