Chapter 516 Can't you just relax for a second?-2
" That was most optimal plan, we manage to retrieve the hostage and rain some hell to our enemy. Pretty soon, I am planning to run another operation and get to the root of operation. They messed up big time surfacing so soon after the LA incident."
"Optimal plan? You went inside their base alone. From the report, it sounded much like you were going on a suicide mission!" Daniel exclaimed. He received the live updates and almost fainted when he learned Sami managed to trick his team and scaled a building into an enemy fortress.
He was horrified and immediately contacted everyone to rescue him, but they were too preoccupied to send support. With everyone already busy tackling other areas and the rescue plan three hours away, he could only pray that Samuel was safe.
Robert and Laura were also shocked that he managed to up his antics after his arrest took the world by storm a few days prior. They were in the process of contacting the French intelligence agency when they heard he came back with minor injuries.
His recent actions were too much for the family's elders to bear, so they called him abruptly so he didn't cause any more mayhem. He was such a sweet boy when he was a child, but now they were certain Sami was in his rebellious phase, constantly keeping them guessing about the following significant incident that would embroil him.
" I agree. You could have waited or called us if you needed help. Marching alone was insane even by your standards." This time, Oscar didn't agree with Samuel and sided with Daniel. Samuel could see he was alone on this, so he explained the incident in detail.
" As you already know I have full training and much stronger than men who are tasked to protect me. I never neglect my training and have been diligent ever since..you know...the incident."
" You don't need to remind us of that." Patricia who was silent all this time spoke. Samuel getting shot was one of the darkest days in the Rothschild family's history.
" Which is why I judged the situation to dangerous for our forces. We had to hide and be discreet as much as we could and I highly suspect they were the same people who had infiltrated my business, in a sense I know how much damage they could do if they were left alone." He paused to see their reactions, which were still mixed.
" I know you don't believe me but I had seen what type of equipment they were using, it was at least five year ahead of current technology and with how bad they wanted Elise, which I still don't know why, she would have disappeared if I waited for reinforcement or a specific plan. She had been a lot already, I can't leave her to luck."
Everyone looked at each other; they could talk outright, but they understood the ramifications of his statement. If that hidden force was making a resurgence, they had to know more about them. It was vital information for both the Rothschild and Hanson families, which was one of the reasons Oscar was here.
" We will look more into it. I didn't want to involve you in this but.."
" You have to tell him at some point. It's better if he knows what he is up against." Donald added. He was a pacifist and never involved himself in his family's business, but he knew how cruel the world was.
For his dream and aspiration, he knew how much his younger brother, Kenneth, had suffered throughout the years as the head of the family. It was one of the reasons he would attend these meetings to give them a different perspective.
" You don't have to say anything, I think they already know what to do." Patricia rubbed her husband's back. She, who knew him more than anyone, knew how difficult it was for Donald to go against his principles.
" I agree, we have to tell him." Margaret looked at Patricia and nodded. The other men in the room fell silent for a moment.
Samuel was barely twenty; it was time to live and experience his life. Was it vital to pull him into such a giant mess? It was much more challenging for Robert to decide; he had already discussed it with his wife, and she told him to do as he saw fit, leaving the final decision in his hands.
" Fine, I will hand what we have on this strange organization. It's not much but I hope it can provide some value but you have to keep us informed about all your actions in the future." Robert said reluctantly.
" Thank you father. You are the best!" Samuel didn't ask them why they didn't tell him. It was already a miracle that they decided to speak about it voluntarily. It was the job of a parent to worry about his children, and with Samuel flying too close to the sun, it was natural he had angered the other party enough for them to retaliate for their losses.
If they didn't share information now, they would only regret it if he was caught off guard in the future. Samuel was elated and started thinking about giving the information to Jane and letting her match the intel with theirs. He was one step closer to uncovering the big secret!
" I should go and look at the evidence-" Samuel tried to leave, but Robert immediately stopped him.
" Wait a minute we are not done!"
" Hmm?"
" Let's talk about last night, I heard you got into an altercation and beat up some guards of Rockefeller family?"
" That was not my fault!" Samuel completely forgot about the sleazeball, and from the looks of his father, Samuel knew he was pissed.
" Young man, you are not getting away scotch free on this one. You know we have a cordial relationship with them, I heard you scared him to death! How many times have to went over this? You can't do as you please in public!"
" We have been receiving calls from different family of the city whose children were there. They had been raving about you to their parents which is making Rockefeller family look bad. Did you have to beat the guard that badly?" Kenneth added. He, too, was hearing about it from his inner circles. Some were even speculating that the two families were about to go to war!
" I can't help it. They were trying to harass my friends. If they are so concerned they could talk to me directly what's the point if that coward takes the issue to his father for god sake!"
" You brat! It's not a minor issue! He is one of the children that is leading the succession race, you know the old Rockefeller is getting old and he had been promoting this child for the head of the family. Do you know if he held a grudge on our family how bad it would get if he eventually becomes the head of the family? We have better things to worry about than some pointless feud!" Robert couldn't believe Samuel was brushing it off as a simple event.
" I know but they wouldn't get such chance in the future. With him at the helm the family would go down in drain in few years. With their dwindling influence you don't have to worry about them showing hostility to us. I can guarantee that." Samuel refused to back down.
" Sami, there is certain unspoken rules that you can't break. It was good that you didn't hit him but it still a disgrace to his image." Margaret added.
" We also have to maintain a balance or else it would effect the power structure that would have dire consequences. Even if they are struggling now, you can't write off a old tiger on prejudice." Donald supported her.
" Fine, I will give them a formal apology and pay for damages. If they have any sense they would accept it." Samuel settled under pressure from everyone. He could tell them there was a link between Rockefeller and the hidden force, but it was only his guess.
Saying anything now would only make them worried; he would reveal it when he had concrete evidence. The main matters were over, and after that, Samuel was hounded for an hour about his discretion with the ladies. He tried to deny everything, but the evidence was too much for him to bear, and in the end, he had to run away while everyone laughed at his bashfulness.
No matter how much stronger he had become, he was still a nineteen-year-old kid at heart!
