How the Ice King Became my Doting Billionaire Husband -
Chapter 461
After Stuart heard the news about Morwenna, he showed no reaction. There was no furious outburst, nor any frantic rush to leave immediately.
Jack couldn't help but whisper to Fletcher, "Is Stuart okay? Does he not care about Morwenna as much as we thought?"
Fletcher gave Jack a look as if he were missing the obvious. "You think he's fine? He's absolutely livid, just holding it all in. We better hope Matthew and Brian can keep her safe, or they're done for this time."
Jack sighed. "I can't believe what they were thinking. Even if they had issues with Morwenna, they should've waited until we were out of this mess to discuss it."
"I already warned Brian to leave Morwenna alone," Fletcher replied, his face grim.
The two fell silent, knowing there was nothing more they could do. They were still stuck in this wilderness, far from making their way out.
Jack and Fletcher took turns keeping watch. Stuart was too injured, and Edmund too old, to take on the duty. It was a relief they were even able to keep moving, let alone stay up all night.
As night deepened, Fletcher sat alone in the darkness. Only when he was sure no one else was around did his concern show.
Before setting out, he had seen Morwenna. With Norbert's incident weighing heavily on her, she hadn't been in a good state. Now, with the latest developments, who knew how she was coping?
With a clear direction now, they should be able to get out of the forest by tomorrow. They had to leave this dense woodland as soon as possible.
...
The night sky blanketed every corner of Rosefrost Hollow equally. At Hetfield's Homestead, however, lights blazed brightly, keeping everyone awake.
Phineas was searching all over Rosefrost Hollow, and even Yara had sent out her people to look for Morwenna. Without replaceing her, their plans were all at risk.
Matthew seemed to pick the worst time to stir trouble, showing up unannounced and demanding Phineas release Lorna.
Phineas had nearly forgotten about Lorna amidst everything. Unable to replace anyone, he was already seething with anger when he saw Matthew. He immediately gestured for two bodyguards to seize him. "Where's Morwenna? What did you do with her, Matthew?"
Even with his arms held behind him, Matthew seemed unperturbed. He casually told the bodyguards, "Easy there, easy. I've got insurance on these arms and legs. You break them, you'll be paying a hefty price."
Startled by this, the bodyguards released Matthew. It was common for celebrities to insure parts of their bodies, and the cost of any injury would be steep indeed.
Matthew calmly flexed his wrists before turning to Phineas. "Phineas, you're asking the wrong person. I have no idea where Morwenna is. I don't get along with her at all. I was just there to give her a hard time."
The truth was, it had all been caught on camera. Matthew and Brian had indeed gone to confront Morwenna.
This made Phineas wonder if Morwenna had actually run off on her own, separate from them.
Matthew, looking unruffled, continued, "Now, about Lorna. I'm here to take her back. My family does business with the Lamont family, and they're aware she's missing. If you don't release her, they'll come to get her themselves."
Phineas's expression darkened. He couldn't stand any of Stuart's friends.
Matthew chuckled, "Why the long face, Phineas? You should be thanking me. If Brian and I hadn't made a scene with Morwenna, you wouldn't have discovered she acquired those shares. You owe me one."
