I Have Decided to Go Look for My Father -
Chapter 104: Looking over at Gu Xi, what's with that unpleasant feeling that he was experiencing right now? (4)
Looking at the way that Gu Xi was acting, Gu Chenyi, next to her, had to try very hard not to bust out laughing. Xixi’s unreasonable-don’t-need-reason-what-I-said-is-the-reasonstance could almost match that of their grandfather’s.
“In addition, you wanted to say that I am not competent and that Liming lost last year because I didn’t do well and that I will be dragging HSAU down this year, right?
“Well, pardon me then. I’m afraid the truth just might disappoint you. If we have anyone other than Gao Zifan last year, oh, even if it was you, we would not have ended up in third place.” They would be in second place at the very minimum.
“You are lying!” Lin Anxin shouted loudly. She stared at Gu Xi and said, “Nobody knew what the actual scores were. You can say whatever you want now.
“But you’ve got to at least be reasonable when you lie. You are saying that Brother Zifan was the one who dragged you down? This is preposterous!” Lin Anxin sneered and went on, “Who would believe you?”
Lin Anxin wasn’t wrong about that. Between Gao Zifan and Gu Xi, those from Liming leaned more toward Gao Zifan.
To think that Gao Zifan would be the one who dragged Gu Xi down was too unbelievable.
Gu Xi didn’t want to waste time in arguing. She merely looked up at them and smiled nonchalantly. “The truth will tell.”
“If you think Gao Zifan is so good, we can always compete.” Pausing, Gu Xi went on, “Let’s compete with our final scoring from this joint competition.”
Gu Xi’s voice was calm and the confidence in her eyes made her appear to be glowing all over.
Gu Chenyi didn’t do much except taking a picture stealthily from next to her and posted it to the Gu family’s group chat along with the caption, “The famous scene of Xixi mocking the others.”
Gu Xi looked cool and radiant in the picture.
[What’s going on?] asked Gu Yanlin in the group.
The others, too, starting asking questions right after him.
Gu Chenyi went on to explain: [A few of the braindeads from Xixi’s old school came over to try and stir up trouble and wanted to say that Xixi’s grades were poor. Xixi straight up challenged them to compete with her.]
Gu Chenyi’s intention was for the others to see how smart and cool Xixi was. Lo and behold, that was not the others’ takeaway.
[Head of Household: Which hooligans bullied my granddaughter?!]
[Gu Feng: Which families are they from?]
[Da Lin-zi: Why is Xixi being bullied? What are you doing?]
[Xiao: What was the purpose of having you there?]
Even Gu Xuan from Country D sent a text: [Why weren’t you protecting Xixi?]
Gu Chenyi, “……” He wished he could. He just never got the chance to.
Gu Chenyi thought about it some and responded to his Big Uncle: [The Lin family that Xixi used to stay with. Then there’s the Gao family. They are probably associated with the Lin family.]
[Gu Feng: Got it.]
Big Uncle of the Gu family, a vicious man of few words.
Over on this side, Gu Xi “declaration of war” shocked those from Liming.
Lin Anxin gave Gu Xi an odd look. She did not believe it for a second that Gu Xi had scored higher than Gao Zifan. That being said, the confidence on Gu Xi made her second guessed herself.
“What if you cheat again? Besides, you have HSAU’s God Xiu on your team. Who knows whether he will be helping you out when you two answer the questions together and you would say that his score is yours?” said Lin Anxin with dissatisfaction. There was hatred in her eyes.
The handsome boy next to Gu Xi was obviously protective of Gu Xi. Even though Sheng Xiuyan’s words was mainly targeted toward Gao Zifan, but he seemed to be somewhat on Gu Xi’s side as well. Then there were the others from HSAU. Even after what she had said, they still seemed to believe in Gu Xi.
Why would they?
Why was Gu Xi so popular after she transferred to a different school?
Lin Anxin’s words were only too ridiculous. Looking at her, Gu Xi said, “There are no cheating in competitions of this level. We can go check the scores as soon as the competition is over. You wouldn’t have anything else left to worry about, right?”
Facing Gu Xi’s look, Gao Zifan’s face dropped a little. Gritting his teeth, he finally accepted the challenge. “Sure. We’ll do it.”
He didn’t do as well as he would normally have because he was affected by her last time. Besides, Gu Xi had only scored the highest because she lucked out last time. He didn’t believe that Gu Xi, as a sophomore, could truly beat him, a junior.
“Alright then. We are on.” Gu Xi’s lips curved as she smiled and hid the sly look in her eyes. “If you lose, please apologize to me publicly on the forum and, please stop coming around to disgust me.”
“You!” Lin Anxin gave Gu Xi an angry look. “We shall not lose. You just worry about yourself.
“If you lose, you will not only apologize to me and Brother Zifan, I am also going to ask you to admit to cheating on HSAU’s forum!” Lin Anxin had it all figured out already. Once Gu Xi admitted to cheating on HSAU’s forum, she would go and post all of her dark history from Liming onto HSAU’s forum. There would be those who choose to believe. Then Gu Xi would be ostracized again just like she did at Liming.
“I won’t lose,” said Gu Xi oh so matter-of-factly.
Her attitude had, once again, made those around her see how cool she was.
After Gao Zifan, Lin Anxin, and the others had left, Gu Xi lifted her brows and said, “We shall see.”
Before she could even be happy for 2 seconds, Gu Chenyi blocked her sight with his hand. “Braindead could be infectious if you look at them for too long.”
They would take care of the Lin family, and that Gao family for her.
Gu Xi busted out laughing.
“The car’s here. Time for us to go.” The seat by the window would really allow once to see when the car arrived.
The group took off.
