71 Dragon Pavilion IV

” Also, who gave you the right to demand that my guards should let you go inside my chamber? Do you think that it’s a place where anyone can go in and out easily? Huh?” Zheng Liang was infuriated not only because Yang Luoyang shouted at his guards but also because of the way he was trying to forcefully make his way inside his chamber.

What does he want to do after going inside his Chamber? What new scheme is he brewing in his mind that he wants to fulfill while using Yang Ning as his shield?

Yang Luoyang was baffled when he heard his question. ” Your Highness, Pardon me for my impoliteness. However, I didn’t come here because I wanted to pry into your chamber and interfere with your privacy.”

“How can I even think of doing something like that? I was at the court when I heard that my daughter, Yang Ning has been injured and was brought to your chamber to get treated by Master Jiang Tai.” Yang Luoyang explained his position and indirectly told Zheng Liang that rumors had reached the royal court already.

Although he came here to take Yang Ning away from here before this news reached the ears of His Majesty, there was another reason why he came here and wanted to go inside his chamber.

It was to look around his chamber and replace out what he was planning these days.

He found out from his sources that Zheng Liang has been looking into the court ledgers these days and meeting people out of the court as well.

He needs to replace out what he is up to these days so that his meddling actions wouldn’t become a hindrance to his plans in the future and ruin everything for him.

That’s why he wanted to enter his chamber and replace some information that could be useful to him in the future. If not now, when will he get the chance to enter the chamber of the Crown Prince after all?

.....

Zheng Liang saw through his plan and his lips curled upwards in mocking. Does he think his excuses will work on him?

” Even so, it doesn’t give you any right to create a scene here. Do you not know what place this is?” Zheng Liang asked coldly to make him know his limitations.

“Also, are you sure you came here because you were worried about your daughter? Because of what I saw the last time at the Yang Household, you don’t seem to care about her health at all.”

“At that night, you didn’t ask someone to bring the Physician when your daughter was burning in a High fever and almost died that day. How can I believe that you came here to meet your daughter because you were worried about her?” He asked indifferently without filtering his words.

He was thinking about that incident until now and seeing the way Yang Luoyang was pretending to be a loving father, he couldn’t help himself from speaking up. How can a father treat his daughter in such a cruel way?

Zheng Liang noticed Yang Luoyang glaring at him and wanted to chuckle at his attitude. He thinks that he cannot go against him. However, he is mistaken.

Even though the Empress favors Minister Yang, he is still the Crown Prince and a mere Minister at the royal court cannot overpower the Crown Prince who has the trust of the people and has the mighty Emperor as his Father.

Yang Luoyang pursed his lips and clenched his fists in rage. He glared at Zheng Liang without uttering any word and was swearing at him with his eyes.

Inwardly, his heart was burning in fire and he wanted to burn the Crown Prince in that fire.

However, he is still the Crown Prince. Other than avoiding his gaze and looking down politely, he had no other way to get out of this situation.

” You are misunderstanding me. Yang Ning is my eldest daughter and everyone in the capital knows how much I adore her and pamper her. What happened that day was a misunderstanding and I didn’t even know that her condition was that bad.”

“Otherwise, I would have taken her to the Imperial Medicine Clinic for her to get the treatment. Why would I let her suffer in her chamber?”

Zheng Liang sneered at seeing him explaining his actions so passionately, that one might think that he was telling the truth.

He can fool anyone but him. He was there that day and saw him scolding Yang Ning’s maid for bringing the physician inside the Household rather than worrying about his daughter’s condition.

While Zheng Liang was getting bored with Yang Luoyang’s excuses, Gu Lan was lost in their conversation.

He looked at Zheng Liang in puzzlement and grew curious about what they were talking about.

Zheng Liang went to the Yang Household? When? That too, at night? How come he doesn’t know about it?

Generally, he accompanies Zheng Liang whenever he steps out of the palace and there aren’t many instances where he never accompanied him, except one day.

Every year, Zheng Liang goes out of the palace on the same day like a ritual without any guards accompanying him and no one knows where he goes during that time.

Was it the same day when he went to the Yang Household? He wondered.

Just as the tension was growing outside the chamber and another argument was about to be started, the anxious shrills of the maid inside the chamber, assisting Yang Ning interrupted the heated moment between Yang Luoyang and Zheng Liang.

“LADY YANG NING, YOU CAN NOT GET DOWN OF THE BED YET.”

“MY LADY, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?”

~CRASH~

“BE CAREFUL! AHH!”

Zheng Liang was baffled to hear the cries of the maid, coming from the chamber. However, when he heard the loud crash as if something fell and broken into pieces on the ground.

He didn’t waver for a moment before he forced the doors open and went inside the room.

While Zheng Liang entered the chamber, Yang Luoyang was about to follow him. However, before he could enter the chamber and see what was going on, Gu Lan grabbed his collar from behind and stopped him from entering the chamber.

“WHAT...WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO RIGHT NOW? LEAVE MY COLLAR, RIGHT NOW!” He was startled when someone grabbed his collar from behind and growled at him to leave him alone but Gu Lan was tired from his whining like a crying toddler.

” I will leave your collar only when you go outside the Dragon Pavilion. As you heard His Highness’s words, you are not welcomed here.” Gu Lan stated coldly and didn’t even try to hold back his words.

Yang Luoyang might be a Minister at the royal court but his Master is the Crown Prince. There is no way he will lose his position just because he stopped Yang Luoyang from entering the chamber. Moreover, he was simply following his Master’s orders.

” Since he hasn’t allowed you to enter his chamber and meet Lady Yang Ning, kindly wait until the moment you were called. As you were told already, it is not a place where anyone can go inside easily.” Gu Lan said indifferently while wearing his poker face expression.

While Gu Lan was holding onto stubborn Yang Luoyang and was pulling him to throw him outside the pavilion, Zheng Liang who was inside the chamber was shocked to see Yang Ning’s condition, who had woken up from the state of unconsciousness.

The maid who was assisting Yang Ning was standing in the corner and was covering her mouth with her hands in shock and panic.

Meanwhile, Yang Ning was standing in front of the enormous, gold-plated, standing mirror in the chamber and was bare-footed.

Her hair and clothes were disorganized as if she wasn’t in the state to bother about her clothes or appearance.

He looked at her worriedly before he asked her, “Lady Yang Ning, are you alright? Why did you get out of -” He was bewildered to see her in such a state and was trying to approach her, however, he couldn’t complete his words when he noticed the shattered jade porcelain on the ground in fragments and realized that she was hurt.

The sharp shards of the porcelain were stuck into her feet and were bleeding. However, despite being hurt and in pain, she was standing in front of the mirror as if nothing happened and was looking at him blankly.

What was so important that she needed to look into the mirror as soon as she woke up?

What was she worried about that she didn’t even care about her bleeding feet and needed to stand in front of the mirror, bare-footed?

He pursed his lips and glanced at the maid who was horrified at the thought that Zheng Liang will punish her for not taking care of Yang Ning.

However, Zheng Liang didn’t say anything to her and waved his hand at the maid, signaling her to leave them alone.

After the maid left the chamber, he walked toward Yang Ning in long strides and stopped a few inches away from her.

Yang Ning bit her lower lip to see him standing in front of her and wanted to apologize to him for breaking his precious porcelain. However, before she could say anything, Zheng Liang bent on his knees and picked her up in his arms, making her squeal in surprise.
