Chapter 68 - Inspecting the Mansion

Inspecting the Mansion

Shia and Serulis seemed very excited.

“Thank you. Be careful.”

“Don’t worry about us!”

Shia’s tail was waving wildly.

“Yes, don’t worry!”

I wasn’t sure about Serulis. I was a little worried.

“Serulis. I mean it, be careful.”

“I know!”

And with that, Shia a Serulis left the mansion.

After seeing them off, Luchila said,

“I’m worried too.”

“Cluck.”

“Yes. But I think Shia will take care of her.”

Even Gerberga seemed unconvinced.

I petted him as he cooed softly on my lap.

He was especially fluffy in the space between his wings.

“Cluck-cluck.”

He clucked comfortably.

And then we left the drawing room.

“Alright, I’m going to go out and by some food for today.”

“I can go for you.”

“Really? Hmm, alright. Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it!”

“Just get anything you like. I don’t mind what it is, but get a lot of it.”

I said and handed him some money.

“Leave it to me!”

Luchila said as he ran out.

“Cluck-cluck.”

Gerberga said as he saw Luchila leave. There was still a possibility that Gerberga would be attacked, and so I tried to keep him close by as much as possible.

“Lord Gerberga. We’re off to the kitchen.”

“Cluck!”

Gerberga looked quite pleased with this declaration.

“Cluck-cluck-cluck-cluck.”

He clucked quietly and occasionally flapped his wings.

Milka and Grulf were in the kitchen.

“Ah, Mister Locke. What is it?”

“Grrr.”

Milka had changed her clothes now.

She wasn’t wearing clothes that were fit for an aristocrat daughter, but clothes that would be easy to work in.

But she still looked very pretty.

Her hair was nicely brushed and there was no dirt on her face.

She had always been pretty, and so she looked nice by merely being clean.

“I was thinking about making a pantry to preserve food in.”

“I see! Is there anything I can do to help?”

“No, I’m fine. I see that you changed.”

“Yes. It would be a waste to ruin those clothes!”

“This suits you nicely as well.”

“Hehehe. Thank you.”

Milka said bashfully.

These clothes were nothing like the rags she used to wear.

It was made of high-quality material.

“Did Serulis give it to you?”

“She did. Sister Serulis has given me a lot of clothes.”

“She’s very generous.”

I would have to thank her later.

“I can’t be more grateful to her!”

Milka said as she cleaned.

“You didn’t have to start cleaning today.”

“But the kitchen should be clean at least. You might get sick!”

“I see. Thank you.”

So that’s why she changed.

As for Grulf, he was sniffing around the kitchen.

“I’m sure you know Grulf, but don’t go around marking your territory, alright?”

“Groof!”

Grulf froze.

Not even a little? That’s what he seemed to be thinking.

I could not let my guard down for a moment.

“Listen here, Grulf. This business of marking your territory...”

“Groof.”

“You must never do it here or in the royal palace.”

“Groof.”

“And not at Goran’s house either. Actually, don’t do it indoors at all.”

“Groof!!”

What, I can’t? He seemed to cry. But I was glad I was able to make it clear before it happened.

And then I tried to explain why it was this way.

Grulf appeared to be listening, so I had hopes that he understood.

“You must go to the toilet.”

“Grrr.”

“And if you have to mark your territory somewhere, you can do it when I take you on walks.”

“Groof!”

“But then again, it will cause trouble if it’s within the royal capital... You can do it when we take walks outside of the city then.”

“Groof!”

Grulf was a puppy, but the size of a small horse.

But Grulf was smart, so I was sure that I would be able to take him on walks here without causing trouble.

As we talked, Gerberga landed on Grulf’s back.

It seemed to be one of his favorite spots.

“Well, as for the pantry, I would like to finish before Luchila comes home.”

“What about this?”

Milka pointed to a large shelf that was in the kitchen.

“That is a normal shelf. So it’s the same as leaving the food outside.”

“Well, how about this?”

Milka pointed to the floor. There was a storage space underneath.

“It does seem dark and cool.”

“Right?”

Milka said smugly. She had cleaned the place, so she knew where everything was.

“We’ll use both then.”

And so I cast a Preservation spell on both.

After that, I also cast an Expansion spell on them.

This made them into what was a less portable version of my bag.

“What kind of magic is that?”

“Quite simple...”

And I explained it to her.

“That’s amazing, Mister Locke.”

“This is a secret, but I am actually a Sorcerer.”

“Is that so...”

And then I looked around the room.

I wanted to know if there were any hidden passages or rooms.

Milka, Gerberga and Grulf followed me.

Unfortunately, we did not replace any new secrets here.

And so I continued to walk around the mansion and cast spells.
