Lucifer's Descendant System -
Chapter 205: Negotiation
Chapter 205: Negotiation
The knight looked at Jeffrey and the security guards slowly. If the unicorn's gaze was already so heavy and hard to bear, that rider's gaze was even worse.
Among the cracks in his helmet, instead of the fire leaking present in all the armor, in that place only two spheres of fire were present, which all assumed as the lifeless eyes that knight had.
If that knight alone was not enough to frighten them, when he raised his hand, a familiar large bright red pentagram appeared in his palm, which split into twenty small pentagrams, until it touched the clearing floor. opening the way for twenty more goblins to come back to life once again.
*Kleng*
The sound of a sword falling to the ground echoed through the deathly silent forest. As the goblins in front of their master were not making a sound, the sound of that sword falling and hitting the floor echoed very loudly in everyone's ear there.
But that was like a chain effect, since as soon as the sword hit the ground, a pair of daggers and a bow soon fell to the ground as well.
None of the three Blessed Rank D survivors were truly willing to fight. If a battle against 20 goblins while they were 40 Blessed had already been something of a problem, now that they were only three against the twenty goblins besides the unicorn and the knight, a fight would be futile.
Jeffrey, seeing what was going on, was momentarily stunned. He believed he had victory in his own hands, that the only thing he would have to do after all this would be to hire other security guards with another pile of money, but who knew that would be impossible?
"The strength of this knight... this can only be Rank C, but since when did I offend such a powerful figure in the city of Eyrin?! I was always careful not to offend the big families and the strong Blessed Ones that supported them. Now, from nothing, a Blessed One from the top of the city Eyrin suddenly has appeared at my door to collect my life...?" Jeffrey was having a monologue with himself.
The three Blessed Rank D were just looking at the large group of monsters in front of them without any animation. Noah didn't care about them and just mentally ordered the imps to kill the three.
Like an anthill that had been nudged, in a few seconds the bodies of the three Blessed were buried beneath the imps that devoured their bodies, as if their flesh were the most delicious thing in the world. Some imps even started a fight again over the eyes of these humans, but Noah didn't worry. At that moment he considered the imps as cute as playful little puppies; seeing them eating eyes and human flesh for him was like a normal person seeing puppies playing with a rubber ball.
After finishing with the corpses, the unicorn slowly started to move towards the luxury car that was parked there.
Jeffrey swallowed hard for the thousandth time that night, not knowing what to do, what this knight was going to do to him, whether he would die cleanly, or whether he would be tortured by that strange flame... Despair was taking over Jeffrey.
"Wait!" When the unicorn and the rider were near the car, Jeffrey screamed desperately as he got out of the car and stood in front of them.
Because of the unicorn's large musculature that made the monster much taller than normal horses, even though Jeffrey was standing, he still had to tilt his head up to try to talk to the rider.
Hearing Jeffrey's cry of despair, Noah ordered the unicorn to stop just a few inches from Jeffrey, at a distance where he would feel the extremely high temperature from the monster's fire and begin to perspire, but he still hadn't decided to attack. He was a little curious about what his uncle had to say.
"I... tell me! How much were you paid to kill me?! I will pay double so you don't kill me, and if you want, I can pay you four times more so you can go back there and kill whoever hired you to kill me. Just quote your price; every man has a number," Jeffrey said, trying to look confident as he started to sweat like a pig because of the unicorn's fire, but he didn't dare complain or walk away from them, for fear of offending the knight.
Hearing his proposal, Noah raised his eyebrow slightly inside the armor. From what he realized, his uncle apparently believed that he had been hired by a rival to kill him... that could be slightly favorable for him.
Thickening his voice a little and taking advantage of the echo that the metal helmet gave to his voice, Noah spoke in a neutral tone, without showing any hint of emotion to his uncle. "I didn't come looking for money, but to make you pay for something you did with your life."
Hearing that, Jeffrey was even more nervous. If the problem were money he was sure he could solve it easily, but trying to deal with a person who didn't care about money and who came here to take his life for something he did was much more complicated.
"Do you mind telling me what I did? Maybe I can make up for it..." Jeffrey asked with a little uncertainty as he used the sleeve of his dress shirt to wipe away some of the sweat that was running down his forehead.
"I had a young man in mind to be my successor and pass on all my knowledge to him, but because of you, now I don't have someone like that anymore, and it will be almost impossible to replace someone like that," the knight said in a cold voice to Jeffrey.
But hearing this made Jeffrey a little more excited, since with the information network he had, it would not be difficult to replace a person who could live up to the expectations that this knight had for him. "This can be resolved, sir. I'm sure I can handle this for you. How about you give me the characteristics that your successor had and I will use all my resources to replace such a person?"
The knight was silent for a few seconds, as if pondering whether to accept Jeffrey's proposal or not, until he nodded slightly at the man before answering, "There are only two essential characteristics for my successor, the person must be under 25 years old and be extremely cruel. The more cruel that person is, the better."
Hearing this, Jeffrey's ears perked up. This could be even better than he imagined. Upon hearing this definition of the knight, a person immediately came to Jeffrey's mind, making him think that this would, in fact, be a blessing disguised as a disgrace in his life.
"Sir... Would that person happen to inherit all of your powers? Including the summons of those little goblins?! And is there any limitation of Blessing ranking?"
"Yes, all of my powers, from manipulating goblins to controlling the flames," he said as he reached out and made his fingers turn into a familiar claw of fire that Jeffrey had seen one of the goblins control.
Seeing this alone made Jeffrey's hands begin to squirm in happiness. Who knew that the moment he thought he would die, in fact, could become the most blessed moment in his family, where he could even match the big families with a powerful Blessed One among them.
Without wasting time, Jeffrey told the rider a person that he was sure fit that criterion. "Sir, I have a person in mind who can satisfy you a lot! There is a young man who has been taught to be cruel since birth. That young man killed his family dogs, beat his classmates at school, practiced bullying with everyone he could, excluded minorities, even raped some girls he thought were hot. I'm sure if you tell him to kill someone, he will kill because it will be fun, with no conscience at all."
Hearing that, Noah's eyebrows rose with a little disgust at that person, but he ignored it and pretended to be interested while asking who that person was.
Jeffrey proudly replied as he puffed out his chest. "It is my son! And to alleviate any concerns you might have, he is not the only one who is cruel like that in my family. My wife is also a snake capable of biting anyone who gets in the way of what she wants. The boy, however, is ideal for what you are looking for, and not to mention that he is only 23 years old!"
Hearing that, Noah already had everything he wanted. He couldn't take any more interaction with this man.
As Jeffrey puffed out his chest, hoping the knight would be happy with the response he gave offering his power to his son and perhaps making their family one of the most powerful families in the city Eyrin, in a fraction of a second he felt there was something wrong.
The knight had reached out to him, but strangely he was pointing at Jeffrey's lower half. When Jeffrey looked back at the rider in confusion, a small ball of fire came out of the rider's outstretched finger and slowly floated to where the rider was pointing.
With desperation, in a single second the expression of happiness and arrogance that Jeffrey had on his face disappeared and left him without any color.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!" Jeffrey screamed desperately as he felt his own stick on fire.
