Lucifer's Descendant System
Chapter 38: Thief Who Steals from Thieves

38 38 - Thief Who Steals from Thieves

He knew that if he let her die, the money he would earn at the end of the Fortress would be a little higher than normal, but it would be just that - a little. There were still 14 more people alive, half of the money she would receive would go to her family, while the other half would be divided into 14 parts. It just wasn't worth it to resign someone who was contributing to the group for just a small amount of money and a laughable personal grudge.

Since it was the first time Noah had used this ability, he didn't know what it would feel like. In fact, he was even a little scared after he saw the system's explanation of what the skill did and how it worked.

[User: Noah Stern

Level: 02, 0/400 exp

HP: 12/12

Strength: 12

Agility: 12

Stamina: 12

Skills:

(Hell Flames Lv 02, 52/500 exp: A technique that consists of invoking the flames of hell itself. The flames of hell did not differ from normal flames, but after purifying so many sins and so many sinners, it became the most powerful flame, having even burned the flame god himself, making him beg Lucifer to extinguish the flames before he died.To increase the power of hell's flames ability, the user must burn sins or sinners.

(Hell Tunneling Lv 01, 0/300 exp: A technique that consists of opening a tunnel to hell and leaving somewhere else in a fraction of a second. The greater the distance, the greater the energy used.

Hell has housed the souls of sinners since the beginning of time for all eternity, and to support the great number of demons and souls, the area there is many times more expanded than the world of the living. Whenever Lucifer passed through these tunnels, people assumed he was teleporting.)]

Looking at the space between Abigail and the Boss, Noah imagined teleporting to that place and in what direction he wanted to be facing.

Suddenly Noah felt a strangely familiar and very comfortable feeling involving his entire body for a split second, and before Noah realized it, he was already between Abigail and the Boss in the middle of the monster's attack path. For any outside observer, the only thing they saw was a spectacle as if Noah had turned into flames before exploding, while behind Abigail a small explosion of flames just like the one that Noah had turned into appeared before his body reappeared in this new place.

The Boss was not prepared for a human to appear so close to him. The trajectory of the daggers was targeting the human behind Noah, so when Noah appeared, because of the angle of the boss's attack, even though Noah was using a single knife to hold the attack of the two daggers of the Boss, he still managed to hold firm, since the Boss was unable to apply 100% of his strength.

Unfortunately Noah's knife did not resist taking damage from the two blessed weapons, but he already assumed that this would happen. So releasing the broken part of the remaining knife, Noah opened both palms and used much of his energy to create a great jet of flame aimed towards the Boss's body.

This time, the great goblin had no chance to defend himself and the large amount of flames hit his chest openly. The decently resistant leather fabrics that the Boss wore as armor began to burn and melt, exposing the Boss's now unprotected green chest.

This exchange may seem like it took forever, but in reality, since Noah left his previous position and used [Hell Tunneling] just a single second had passed.

The Boss once again did not even scream when he felt that much of his body was on fire; the only thing he did was to change the trajectory of the daggers and aim at Noah to kill this irritating human once and for all.

Noah, seeing the Boss trying to kill him, couldn't help but smile. "Do you think you are the only one who can do this?" Noah said quickly before using [Hell Tunneling] again to where the little assassin goblin he was fighting earlier still was.

As it was only 2 seconds since Noah had left him, the little goblin was still somewhat lost and looking for another target to kill. Noah took advantage of the fact that the monster was not ready for him to return again and set the little goblin on fire, who did not even know from where those flames came.

Abigail had already moved away from where she was when she saw that Noah had appeared to save her, which meant that the Boss had no target to hit after Noah "teleported" away from him.

The rest of the Blessed were not watching this all happen without doing anything; while this small exchange took place, the warriors ran to the three wizards who were being attacked by the assassin goblins and with their numerical advantage, they killed the three small monsters.

At this point, Noah had already taken the dagger from the goblin that dropped from his hand and let the little monster's body continue to burn on the ground to generate more energy for himself.

The Boss realized that a large portion of his little lackeys were dead now and started to despair. Even though he was stronger and had good killing skills, he hadn't been able to kill any humans, mainly because of that assassination in the group of humans (Noah). Turning invisible once again, the Boss used this opportunity to reposition himself from a long distance and pulled out the other weapon he possessed.

Noah was continuously on the alert. Now that he had already tested and was forced to show the ability he received to other humans, he just wanted to know where the Boss was so he could end this invasion soon. Unfortunately when the Boss became invisible, Noah's flames simply disappeared. This only confirmed once again that the Boss's invisibility was not just an invisibility skill, but one of intangibility.

The entire group was on the alert, but because some were heavily wounded by either the Boss or the little assassins, the wounded Blessed were unable to hear a strange whistle resounding across the battlefield.

Noah instantly turned to look in the direction that whistle was coming from, but by the time he realized what it was, it was too late. The whistle was caused by a large arrow cutting through the wind before going through the head of the group's healer, who was already injured after receiving that stab from the boss earlier.

The Blessed who were injured were concerned when they saw that the group's healer had died, as the only person who could treat their wounds now would be unable to do that. But that did not cause the Blessed to lose focus entirely. Both mages and archers quickly aimed their attacks at where the Boss was and fired instantly with the intention of ending this battle, ignoring the very wounds they had suffered. They fired as quickly as possible so that they could all get out of there and receive satisfactory treatment.

Noah also saw where the Boss was, but he saw something even better. Unlike before, where the Boss was holding his daggers tightly with his hands, now the daggers were hanging around his waist so that he could grip his bow.

"A thief who steals from other thieves deserves a hundred years of forgiveness." This was a saying Noah once heard from someone. Before, it didn't make much sense in his head, but now looking at the pair of daggers on the boss's waist, Noah finally understood the meaning of the saying.

Ignoring the attacks of the Blessed who were heading towards the Boss, once again a small explosion of flames appeared among the group of Blessed ones before reappearing behind the great goblin...
