Lucifer's Descendant System -
Chapter 94: Pyakugan
94 94 - Pyakugan
Fortunately, after searching for a while, the group found nothing substantial inside the car. Unlike the previous compartment that was full of corpses scattered around the site, in addition to the large pile of dwarf corpses, this one had nothing. It was basically like an empty room, which made it quite disconcerting for the Blessed who expected something substantial. With nothing to do in that room, the only thing left for the group was to go to the next car.
Noah was at the front of the group, next to Jasper, since the two were the most capable of dodging surprise attacks and alerting the group of a possible danger. With Noah's new ability, they didn??t need to turn on any light when advancing into a strange place, as [Hell Tunneling] gave Noah a kind of spatial perception that allowed him to see and understand all the space around him, making the group just need to know where Noah was, know where he went, and try to accompany him, which prevented the group from understanding a little where he himself was, but also prevented the possible monsters they should face from becoming aware of them because of the luminosity.
Over time, Noah was trying to understand the skill he received when leveling up [Hell Tunneling] and realized that it looked a lot like an anime skill he had seen when he was in school. The anime was about the son of the grandson's grandson of a boy named Toruto.
Noah's ability looked like an eye skill that some characters from a famous clan of that anime had. In the show it was called Pyakugan, and it allowed the user to see 360o around himself as if he had eyes in all directions. The difference between Noah and the Pyakugan users was that Noah's ability was apparently active 100% of the time, in addition to having no major change in his external appearance so far. This was something that Noah would have to experiment with more some time later to see if it was something only temporary and if over time would develop some kind of external change, or if he would always continue with the normal external appearance. That is, Noah felt as if he had received a few more pairs of extra eyes, as this 360o vision gradually was getting more and more natural as time went by.
Not being limited by ambient light, this ability was essential in a dark place like this. It allowed him to be able to see as if the light was on in a dome a few meters around him.
Unfortunately, this skill was not much needed in this car, since it was empty, but they only knew that the car was empty without sweating in no kind of lighting because Noah was using the vision ability he had just received.
First, the most striking were prison cells, and inside these prison cells were several trapped dwarves, apparently unconscious lying on the floor, divided individually into the cells, which Noah deduced to be to prevent them from using some kind of joint magic to destroy the cells' metal bars.
Looking from a distance, Noah could only see these metal bars that held them like ordinary metal, but he soon dismissed that thought, since whoever made this attack was apparently very prepared to leave an entire car dedicated to the cells, something he could not have been improvised in a short amount of time, proving that this plan that was in progress was obviously much more complex than they imagined, which meant that these bars probably had some kind of magical resistance to prevent the deserves from weakening it using magic and breaking free easily.
Seeing that the dwarfs were alive but locked up, the concern of the Blessed was intensified. Dealing with irrational monsters was problematic, but it was still something they could handle because they had the advantage of superior intelligence, overcoming strength and numbers with tactics prepared to deal specifically with the situation at hand.
But the dwarves trapped behind metal bars gave an indication that whoever was behind this scheme was not really something like the monsters they were used to dealing with. It was not just an irrational monster that attacked for food or just for the pleasure of killing humans, no, it showed that the mind behind this attack on the train was actually someone who was meticulous, thorough, and especially powerful.
Controlling monsters so powerful could not be done by just anyone; monsters only submitted themselves to beings more powerful than them. That was the characteristic of monsters that lived in a pack: the alpha was always the most powerful of the pack.
And as the Boss they had defeated was not the one who was truly controlling all this, he was therefore not the "alpha" of this invasion, but it was someone even more powerful. And due to the meticulousness that was attributed in this attack, this person, besides being intelligent, was also very powerful, which increased the group's anxiousness and made everyone unconsciously grasp their weapons more firmly, preparing for an eventual life and death battle.
In addition to the metal cells that trapped the unconscious dwarves, the humans could also see something else inside that car, something that truly made them worried, while Mufag became practically desperate.
In the middle of the room was the one who apparently was the mastermind of all this attack on the train. In addition to two dwarves familiar to Mufag lying on the floor in an unconscious state, there was also another dwarf, wearing a black cloak while looking at the humans with a look of deadly hatred.
