"What the actual hell?" I cursed, unable to hold back my anger. "She says she was sent by Ghost Pack?"

For a moment, I was worried about what Quentin would realize. He was smart and could easily deduce anything that I would say.

Quentin might actually believe what she was saying was the truth. If he truly believed that she was working with Ghost Pack, it would be a huge dent in our plans.

What if he believed her? She could lie and concoct other stories about our pack that weren't true. What then? Would he start some technological witch hunt for all the members of our pack? I didn't like the thought of putting any of our group members in danger.

The anxiety was already eating at me and I was trying my best to keep on a calm front. Quentin looked at me before breaking into a smile.

"I don't believe that kind of rumour. It's too baseless to finally have any legibility." He explained.

I smiled, trying not to be betray the relief I felt. Quentin continued. "But I need you to provide evidence that Ghost Pack has nothing to do with this."

As I stared at him longer, I realized he didn't want me to prove who the Alpha of Ghost Pack was through physical evidence. He wanted the person to admit it.

Quentin's eyes lingered on me for a while as he waited for an answer. What should I say? He was helping replace out the whole operation behind my own pack.

Of course there was always the option of lying. But Quentin was smart. Too smart for his own good. He'd easily sniff out any lie I concocted.

"Well?" He asked expectantly.

A small breath left my lips. "I—"

The doorbell cut me off before I could go on. Quentin and I exchanged one quick glance before we both turned back to the door again.

My omega maid immediately went towards the door to answer it. As soon as she opened it, her body lurched forward into a bow.

"Welcome my lords." She greeted.

"Thea."

I recognized the deep tempo of that voice. Lucian. What was he doing here? There was another voice too.

"Is she in her room?"

That was Noah. The fact that they were both here at the same time was what surprised me the most. I turned to Quentin who still had that infuriatingly calm expression on his face.

"My brothers are here," I said calmly. "You still want to stay here and make small talk with me?"

"In my bedroom." I added when I noticed his prolonged silence.

He let out a breath, an annoyed look in his eyes. Without another word, he got off the bed and began making his way to the door.

Then he turned back to face me. "We're not done."

I rolled my eyes before shaking my head. I didn't have that endless hole of energy

to banter with him. Certainly not now that my brothers were here.

He silently left the room, shutting the door behind him. No doubt, he'd meet Lucian and Noah in the living room. What would they say when they eventually met with each other?'

A small breath of relief left my lips. That was close. I still stood on the hill that Quentin was way too smart for his own good.

No one could know I was the Alpha of Ghost Pack. Not Quentin, not Askhan, not even Haelor. That was something I wanted to keep to myself for now.

I felt a warm bubble of energy coursing through me. I wanted to jump, run around the whole place and just be free.

So what was the problem?

A grin tugged at the corner of my lips just as I shifted into a wolf. The feeling of my claws hitting the cold wooden floor was a relief I couldn't just describe.

Without wasting a second, I bolted around the room, feeling the cold air whip past my face. It felt like my whole body had come alive. I felt exhilarated.

I jumped from table to table, relishing the few seconds I remained suspended in the air. The whole place was still filled with Quentin's scent. And it felt...oddly satisfying.

I closed my eyes and sucked some air in. Scratch that. Quentin's scent was so good. At some point, I stopped in the middle of the room.

There was no reason for Quentin to actually be hostile to Ghost Pack. He could misunderstand me if he wanted. Even if he were to throw any accusations at me, it still wouldn't mean a thing. I

Ghost Pack would not be affected by anything so long as I lived. I would make sure the pack remained safe by all means necessary.
