Luna's Deadly Deception: How She Made Her Alpha Pay -
Chapter 116
"Yep." I let out a breath. "I went to my mom's grave."
"And you did it alone?" Lucian frowned.
"Yes," I sighed again.
"Well I'm proud of how strong you've become, Thea. You were able to do that all alone. I'm proud of you. Honestly."
The smile tugged at my lips before I even realized it. "Thank you."
Emma who could barely understand what was happening threw herself into my arms. My brothers laughed, taking turns to coo and play with her.
I handed her to Olavir when my phone started ringing. It was from a strange number. I had barely even picked it when a servant rushed in.
"Miss Thea. There's a man looking for you."
"One minute." I said to the servant.
I turned my attention to the phone, wondering who the strange number could be.
"Hello?" I said into the phone.
"Thea." The voice replied.
I recognized the person instantly. It was a voice I knew all too well. Askhan's sister, Mody, was the person on the other side of the phone.
"Who is it?" Noah asked curiously.
"Mody." I replied.
"Oh." There was a look of recognition in his eyes as he processed my words. No doubt, he must remember her as well.
She was the daughter of the Queen Luna and the Alpha King. However, she was an omega. By the time she managed to complete the rite of passage with her own mate, she was already an adult.
Mody was pretty popular among the wolves in the palace as she had been taking care of them and tending to them in whatever way she could do best.
However, because of her responsibilities at the palace, she hadn't been able to go to university to learn any new knowledge or skills.
Our relationship was one that was pretty cordial. I wouldn't really say there was any form of animosity or tension between us. Still, it was a bit strange getting a call from her.
"What's up?" I asked.
"It's been a while." She noted.
"Indeed it has." I sighed. "How's life been treating you?"
"I think we can cut the small talk now." Her normal cheery voice had dropped.
It hit me like a bolt. When I managed to get over my surprise, she had already went on with what she'd been saying.
"You're going to the Alpha Palace today." She said like it was something non- negotiable.
"Why?"
"To pack your things of course." She scoffed. "The place you used to stay is going
to be given to the royal princess candidate. The room needs to be prepared for her and your things are in the way."
Each word she said was like a slice to the chest. That had been a place I'd considered home for quite some time.
Had Askhan made this happen? Did he order for this? I could still remember the look that had been on his face the previous day. I hadn't expected such coldness and a lack of remorse from him, and yet here we were.
"Understood. I'll be there soon." I finally said.
"Don't waste our time please." She said in an all too sweet tone.
The line went dead before I could even think of saying anything else. Olavir had a look of concern on his face as he watched me. He must have noticed the complete switch in my mood. I didn't want to say anything or think about it.
If anything, I wanted their mood to remain pleasant and not be ruined by me.
"You mind watching Emma for me for a bit longer? There's something I have to do." I said to my brothers.
"Are you okay?" Noah asked, a look of worry in his eyes.
"I am." I forced a smile to my face.
The first thing I did was head to my car and immediately drive towards the Alpha Palace. I managed to get there in record time and heads straight for my corner of the palace.
There was a feeling of nostalgia that hit me immediately. Looking at the walls and corridors, I couldn't help but remember all the times I had played here as a kid.
It was filled with so many fond memories of me and Askhan. Why was it that he always found a way to infiltrate my thoughts no matter where I was? I found it infuriating. It made me want to tear my hair out in frustration.
"Are you ready to pack your things, Miss Thea?"
I turned to see a line of maids standing behind me. Once upon a time, they used
to fawn over me and would be all smiles when I summoned them.
Now however, there was an emotionless aura to them. Almost like they were only here because they were obligated to. It was almost laughable.
"Yes. You can start packing them." I replied with just as much indifference.
