Luna's Deadly Deception: How She Made Her Alpha Pay -
Chapter 35
These sanctimonious parents had convinced themselves they were defending marriage, standing up for wronged wives everywhere.
In reality, they were just social climbers, desperately trying to attach themselves to perceived power.
If they'd only damaged property, perhaps we could have discussed alternatives.
But they crossed an unforgivable line. They hurt my daughter and I.
I would make them pay. Every last cent.
When it became clear I wouldn't back down, panic finally broke through their entitled facades.
They turned on Ashley like wolves.
"This is all your fault! You spread lies without even checking the facts!"
"You're the real homewrecker! Now we're all going down because of you!" "Had the nerve to parade around as the Luna of the Steele Pack. Pathetic!" "We're in this mess because we tried sucking up to you! You should pay every cent!"
"Don't even think about asking us to help with that $940 million. That's your problem!"
Ashley finally snapped, her designer mask cracking completely. "You hypocritical vultures!"
"Don't act innocent. You were all desperate to please someone with power. You pushed me to make a scene!"
"When you thought I was the Luna of the Steele Pack, you were practically kissing my feet. Now look at you - running like rats from a sinking ship!"
"You were born to be bootlickers. And you're going down with me!"
The argument might have turned violent if the officers hadn't intervened.
When things calmed down, the excuses started flowing.
Everyone claimed innocence. It was always someone else who broke things, someone else who threw punches.
They surrounded Ashley, no longer as "queen bees" and "servants", but as angry dupes and liars.
They forced Ashley to pay the fine in their place, just then Magnus stormed into the courtroom and he stepped between Ashley and the group of parents. "Everyone please calm down!!!"
Magnus had lost the elegant gentlemanly demeanor of a noble Alpha and instead looked like a country cowboy. His disheveled hair and the huge dark circles under his eyes on his face exhibited his exhaustion from all the running around he'd been doing lately.
He was originally an ordinary werewolf, and it was me and my family who had showered him with nobility, not the abilities he possessed.
Now, away from my support, he changed back to his original form - a normal male werewolf.
The words coming out of his now wretched form had no deterrent effect. Parents no longer respect him, but reach out their claws towards him, scratching his face.
The Gamma Police did their best to maintain order and try to stop the riot.
My bodyguard came to me early to secure me to a safe but panoramic view of the fracas.
I gloated and whistled from the sidelines. How similar it all was to that day at school, except that I had become the princess they dared not touch.
"Thea! Please! Make them stop!"
