Manaless Mage
Chapter 64 Unexpected Encounter[1]

'Harry… his talent is really out of his world.' The man mumbled inwardly. A wry smile appeared on his face as he shook his head slightly.

His first thought when he saw how fast Harry was channelling his mana was what Harry would master the spell within a week.

Although that was his guess, a part of him still didn't expect Harry to actually learn the spell that fast as that was him setting the bar too high for Harry.

However, Harry didn't just learnt the spell but he also mastered it within three days! This was far above his expectations.

The promotional examination Harry just took tested for the time it took Harry to cast the spell, how long he could hold the spell and the strength and power of the spell.

Harry passed all of these tests in flying colours. Not only did he pass the tests but the power of Harry's 'lightning stun' was slightly higher than that of the average Elementalist.

Harry could also hold the spell for a longer amount of time when compared to most Lightning Elementalists, the instructor had never came across someone as talented as Harry.

Though keeping up the spell sounded like an easy job, it wasn't. To hold a spell, an Elementalist had to keep up the flow of elemental mana, which meant they had to continually channel their mana.

Most low stage Elementalists couldn't do this so they could only keep up their spells for a few seconds.

With this, he was sure that Harry was a once in a millennia prodigy.

Lightning Element had two colours or rather forms; silver and blue lightning.

They could both do the same thing and cast the same type of spells, however, the light blue lightning was known to be slightly more powerful than the former.

Lightning was the only element known with two different colours, it was another fact that contributed to the rarity of the element. The colour of an Elementalist lightning depended on their talent and affinity with Lightning.

Lightning Elementalists with affinity grades between low to medium grades had the silver lightning while those with high grade affinities and bone had the light blue lightning.

Harry's Lightning Element was blue in colour which meant he did have a peak grade element.

A slight smile appeared on Harry's face when he heard the instructor's words. He bowed lightly to the instructor before turning around to leave the room.

Finally, he had completed all the first year elemental classes and could now be promoted to the next.

Though they were called "first year elemental classes", it didn't mean a student had to spend one year in the training.

One year was just the estimated time it should take an untalented or average Elementalist to learn everything taught in those classes. It all depended on talent and how fast an Elementalist was able to advance.

However, the Elementalists in the academy were required to break through to the first mana core stage within a year of registration.

Those who failed to meet this requirement were either expelled from the academy or registered as a 'regular or ordinary student'.

Basically their 'Elementalist' status in the academy would be revoked. Breaking through to the first mana core stage was one of the basic things in magic and if a person was unable to meet even the most basic requirements, they were considered useless.

Harry exhaled as he stepped out of the room. He left the instructor as the man was still busy arranging some equipments in the room.

The 'room' he just stepped out from was where the promotional examinations for the first spell casting class was conducted.

Each Elemental class in the academy had a special room(s) where promotional examinations were conducted.

Since 'lightning stun' was a simple spell, the academy didn't bother to create a large or over-advanced exam room for it.

As Harry walked across the class, he could feel the gazes of some of the students drilling into him.

The students were unsurprisingly jealous of Harry. Harry met them in this class and now he had passed them again.

Most of them were still even struggling to balance their chants with their elemental mana flow while Harry had already passed the promotional test.

As usual, he ignored them and simply walked towards the door at his own pace.

Though Harry's earlier plan was to completely 'master' the spell after about four days, he felt that might disrupt this plan and shifted that date forward a little.

The Ranking competition would begin in about a month from now and he couldn't keep wasting time in the spell-casting class.

[A/N: if you're confused about why it would begin in "a month" since I said the same in chapter 39, just know I edited that chapter and changed it to two months(this won't increase the coin price)]

The next class he was moving too focused on more practical aspects. The Elementalists were taught how to use their spells efficiently in combat.

However, before he could go to his new class, he had to first visit the spell library.

Just as the name suggested, the "spell library" was basically a library where spells were kept.

Though it had the word "spell" in it, it wasn't filled with only spells, there were other types of books there also.

The next elemental class wouldn't be like the first spell-casting class where every Elementalist learnt the same spells, students were free to learn any spell of their choice; as long as it was within their capability.

They would first learn a spell of their choice than the instructors of that class would guide and train them on how to use it during combat.

Since it was a class that focused more on practical lessons and magical combat—using spells to fight and battle, Elementalist fought against each other more often and spells were used more actively.

Harry planned on visiting the wind spell library first. He already learnt a spell from the Lightning hall and even though it wasn't that powerful—since it was only a tier one spell, Harry sure it would get more powerful as it levelled up.

Each element hall had its respective spell library, the element and type of the spell depended on the element hall. For example, the spell library in the lightning hall would unsurprisingly be filled Lightning spells and the one in the wind hall would have wind spells.

Since he had three elements and each element halls taught the same thing, he was free to train in any one of them and was also free to learn new spells from any of the spell libraries.

He wanted to use this opportunity to learn new skills also. He planned on visiting all three libraries and learning spells from each and every one.

Unlike other Elementalist who had to spend weeks and months to learn one spell, Harry could simply learn any spell within seconds as long as he had enough skill points, which he was sure he did.

A slight smile appeared on Harry's face as he stood in front of the wind spell library. The library was located in the ground floor of the wind hall and was quite easy to locate.

He raised his student ID card and stretched it towards the double bar door. A low beep sound rang out as the door slowly slid open.

The spell library wasn't open to just anyone, only Elementalists of the respective hall were allowed into the library.

A fire Elementalist wasn't allowed into a wind spell library and vice-versa. Even instructors from other element halls couldn't just walk into the spell library of another element hall.

There were exceptions like the principal and some other instructors who had access to every part of the academy due to their high positions, however, that privilege didn't extend to students.

Ever since Harry registered as an Elementalist, his ID card had been updated so he now had access to the wind, lightning and earth spell libraries.

He was only planning on learning only the spells that were going to be useful to him and not just any spell. After all, he knew how difficult it was to gain skill points and he didn't want to waste the few he had.

The librarian at the corner of the library stared at Harry for a few seconds with a weird expression on her face before turning her head away.

The spell library looked just like a normal library with brown shelfs arranged neatly around it and spaces in between every shelf. It wasn't that wide or huge and the shelfs weren't as humongous as one might expect.

There were a few other students apart from Harry walking around the hall and engaging in conversations.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the library, a light brown haired student searched through the books on the shelfs frantically. His face appeared quite young and his appearance had a few similarities to Harry's.

Trent brows morphed into a frown as he kept swiping through the books on the shelf. "Where is it…?"
