Marrying Without My Eight-Year Boyfriend Knowing -
Chapter 81
Later, I found out that it was my mom who had worried about me being bullied.
She had asked the neighbor's child to keep an eye on me.
His situation was very similar to mine.
His parents both cheated during their marriage, and he was sent to live with his father.
Unfortunately, his father remarried and completely neglected him.
He grew up with his grandmother.
Because of this, my mom often helped his family.
Perhaps because of this, he would often protect me from others.
As time passed, the mark he left in my heart grew deeper, and eventually, it turned into something else.
I confessed to him, but he rejected me.
He said: "The most disgusting thing is dealing with entangled relationships between men and women."
I knew this came from the chaotic relationship between his parents.
But I didn't stop. Despite the difficulty, I kept moving forward toward him.
Every time he took a step back, I took ninety-nine steps forward.
Finally, he accepted our relationship.
I thought that one day he would heal and move on from the shadows of his past...
When I opened my eyes, there was an IV drip in my arm.
Liam was sitting by my hospital bed, quietly watching me, his gaze so deep it felt like it could swallow me whole.
"The doctor said your fever turned into pneumonia," he said softly.
"I didn't tell Auntie, just stay in the hospital and rest for a few days."
We didn't mention the blind date either.
After three days of injections, on the third day, he accompanied me for a check- up.
Just as we were coming down the stairs, I ran into two familiar faces.
Jorge was tangled up with a woman. "We took precautions that day. There's no way there could be a child."
The woman's eyes were filled with mockery: "Oh, if it's not yours, then whose could it be? The timeline fits perfectly, you're not going to deny it, are you?"
"I'm not asking for anything else, just give me a title. I want you to marry me."
The woman spoke with a firm, demanding tone.
Jorge's expression darkened instantly. "You're dreaming!"
In the midst of their argument, Jorge noticed me.
"Cole?"
I frowned in disgust, and Liam immediately sensed my mood, stepping in front of
me:
"Colette doesn't like being called by nicknames by people she's not close to."
Not close to?
Jorge's face suddenly looked displeased. He tried to suppress his expression, forcing a casual, indifferent look:
"Colette, come here. It's not like you think. I won't marry her. What happened between us was an accident."
His voice was gentle, as if thinking that by speaking to me like this, I would come running back to him, just like before.
"We can keep dating forever. I won't be with anyone else. We can go back to how we were."
I couldn't help but laugh at his self-importance.
I really did laugh, but as I laughed, tears started to fall.
By the time I stopped laughing, Jorge's face had turned dark. I finally calmed down:
"There's one thing you said that's true: change to another man."
"The only conflict between not wanting to marry and wanting to marry is that the person I'm stubbornly focused on is you."
"Next time we meet, I don't think you'll be calling me Colette anymore. You should be calling me 'sister-in-law'."
I lifted my hand, which was still clasped with Liam's, and showed him.
He came out of his shock and stepped forward to demand an explanation, but he missed.
Liam directly picked me up and walked away, keeping a distance from Jorge, heading downstairs with big strides.
Jorge tried to follow, but his hand was grabbed by the woman beside him. "You can't go!"
"My issues aren't resolved yet, you have to marry me."
One wrong step, and everything falls apart.
