MIDNIGHT PRINCE: Empire of Sin
Chapter 535: CH 519: Balance of Justice

The pitter-patter of the rain reached the ears of the two people who were walking under the light rain. Everywhere, people could be seen running or simply shrugging and ignoring the light drizzle and going on their way.

Even so, no one was quite as eye-catching as the old man and the young girl walking on the road without caring for everything around them. Weirdly though, no one could see them,

"I am sorry. I messed up."

Walking behind Moriarty, Ariel could only apologize with her head down but all she heard was a scoff.

"Had it been in any other situation, I would have been severely disappointed in you. But not this time. You were in a situation where your chances of escape were exactly zero. If my instincts are right, and they are generally always right, even I would have some trouble escaping him. In fact…"

Moriarty looked all around and grinned, "Let's go." He took her hand and the two of them vanished once again before reappearing more than 10 kilometers away from where they initially stood.

Not long after, in the place where they once stood, Adam appeared slowly and gave a bitter smile.

"I guess I got caught." He mused a little. Moriarty had some power over space and was able to sense his domain even if only faintly. Furthermore, the man could teleport.

"This is going to be complicated. So not only can he create a dimension but he can also teleport?"

This kind of power at the end of a thief and criminal like Moriarty was pretty scary. This would mean that outside of some specific places, Moriarty was free to roam anywhere he wanted and since Adam was unable to sense him at the moment, this would mean Moriarty could teleport kilometers away at a time.

'Could I stop him from teleporting?'

This shouldn't be impossible. Once he managed to obtain more control over space himself through his Zone he should be able to make sure no one could enter or leave his own zone through teleportation.

'What do you think?'

{I believe you should still save your points for unlocking the Heart Chakra. Once this happens you can slow down and start building your skillset again. I already have a few proposals for skills you can buy that will complement your current build and enhance it further.}

'Perfect. I guess there is nothing more we can do for the moment.'

Opening the heart of Chakra would be akin to obtaining a new branch skill. In fact, not even the core or the other main chakra was as important as the heart one in his opinion. After all, it would get rid of his greatest weakness in one go.

Adam clenched his fist before taking his activating his cell phone and calling Mark,

"I lost the target. Sorry. I should have been more direct but I was a little too arrogant this time."

Had he directly infiltrated her memory, he would have been able to obtain all the information he wanted but not all hope were lost "I got a ticket and quite the VIP. How are things on your side?"

[Well…] Mark's voice seemed clearly troubled. [We tried hunting for the other shadow twin but someone else beat us to it.]

"Who?" Adam was pretty surprised. After all, Mark was accompanied by Tsubasa. It would be quite worrying if hunters stronger than her were present.

The answer Mark gave though, was something Adam would not have expected,

[The one who caught him was — My sister.]

"Children nowadays are pretty scary. Then again, if he is that woman's son I guess this shouldn't be a surprise." He shook his head before ruffling the hair of the despondent Ariel.

"Stop looking down. The mission was partially a success at least. Arsene got caught by that arrogant woman."

"Will he be alright?"

Moriarty shrugged, "Charlotte is many things. An arrogant prick, a drug addict, an alcoholic, a detective wannabe, a crazy woman, a…"

"Boss."

"Ahem… Sorry." Moriarty had the decency to look chastised, "She has many defaults. Few good sides. But she is no murderer. Well…" He mused, "At least Arsene had yet to commit a crime that would bring him the death penalty."

He smiled and brought his hand forward, a magical key appearing in his hand, and the space rippled as he turned the key as if opening a lock.

A hole in space-time was punctured and thus Moriarty and Ariel entered his alternate dimension, leaving no trace of their presence behind.

While Ariel Lupin had been lucky enough to escape with only a minor wound, Arsene Lupin could not say to be as lucky.

"What a crazy woman."

"Contempt of justice. While this is not a criminal offense, you are not arranging your case."

Arsene gave a bitter smile as he looked at the scale that was floating above while his hands were restrained by golden handcuffs that seemed completely unbreakable.

His body was spotless but this made the situation all the worse. After all, this was proof that he had not even been able to fight.

'Just what kind of fucking power is this.'

"I am Detective Smith, a representative of the goddess of justice. Criminal Arsene Lupin. Will you take a plea deal or will you face the full charges of all the crimes you committed?"

"What would be my sentence?"

"At the moment you are being judged for multiple Grand Theft of the First Degree. The minimum sentence would be 30 years without your power."

He shuddered. He did not know how this was possible for a woman who seemed to only be at the silver level to have such a power but he knew one thing. He did not want to test if she was bluffing or not.

"I will take the deal." In the first place, this had always been his intention and his mission.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Holmes who had been observing all this while sitting a little afar clapped.

Choosing Theia as her disciple had definitely been a very good decision. Once this girl reached gold or executioner level — She would truly be a dangerous powerhouse.
