Chapter 2: A Ducati as a Reward?! Qiao Yingzi, Hold Tight!
“System, tell me about yourself,” Su Bai said excitedly.
The system responded, “Greetings, Host. I can allow you to sign in once per day, and each time you do, you’ll receive something special from me.”
“Then let’s sign in now!” Su Bai exclaimed eagerly.
Ding!
“Sign-in successful! Congratulations, Host, on receiving the following rewards: max-level academic skills, max-level athletic abilities, a Ducati motorbike, and 1 million yuan in cash,” the system announced.
Immediately, Su Bai’s phone buzzed. Checking his bank account, he saw that it now held an additional 1 million yuan.
Simultaneously, he noticed a Ducati motorbike key had appeared in his possession, along with knowledge of where the bike was parked.
Having grasped all this, Su Bai said no more and prepared to get out of bed.
It was time to embrace his high school life in this new world.
Just as Su Bai was about to rise, Song Qian heard the sound of the front door opening.
“Mum, I’m back!” a voice called out.
Qiao Yingzi entered, her hands full of bags. Knowing that she needed to return to school today, she had come back early.
Song Qian, still unsettled by the previous night’s events, hadn’t had time to prepare breakfast. Fortunately, Qiao Yingzi had brought plenty of delicious food with her. Qiao Weidong would never let his daughter go without it.
Spotting her mother sitting on the sofa, Qiao Yingzi assumed that Song Qian was still upset about her father bringing Aunt Xiao Meng over the previous night. After setting her things down, she ran straight to Su Bai’s room.
“Su Bai, are you up yet? Hurry, or we’ll be late!” she called out as she pushed the door open without waiting for a response.
Song Qian had left the door ajar earlier, so it wasn’t locked.
“Ahhh…”
Su Bai had just risen from bed when the door swung open, and Qiao Yingzi poked her head inside before immediately retreating, her face red with embarrassment.
Her startled scream snapped Song Qian to attention. She didn’t need to ask—she already knew what had happened.
“Young lady, how can you barge into a boy’s room like that? Come and have breakfast; you need to leave for school soon,” Song Qian said, taking out the food Qiao Yingzi had brought.
Normally, Song Qian wouldn’t have allowed her daughter to eat such things, but her mind was elsewhere today. While she insisted to herself that she’d forgotten about last night’s events, the truth was far from it—especially given Su Bai’s… vigour.
Once Su Bai had dressed, he came out to join them at the table, where Song Qian and Qiao Yingzi were already eating breakfast.
Upon seeing Su Bai, Qiao Yingzi’s face turned crimson, and she lowered her head so far it nearly touched her bowl.
Song Qian, equally uncomfortable, quickly said, “Xiao Bai, come and eat breakfast. You both need to leave for school soon.”
Without a word, Su Bai sat down and began eating heartily. Though they shared a table, an awkward silence hung over the three of them. It wasn’t due to unfamiliarity but rather the sheer weight of everything that had transpired since the previous night.
Soon enough, breakfast was over.
“Come on, kids, off to school with you! You’ll be late if you don’t hurry. I won’t be dropping you off today,” Song Qian urged.
“Xiao Bai, your transfer process has been sorted. Teacher Li Meng is expecting you, so go to the classroom with Yingzi later, alright?”
[Li Meng (李萌): A teacher’s name; “萌” can mean sprouting or cute, often associated with youthful charm.].
“This is your first time attending a high school in China. If there’s anything you don’t understand, feel free to ask me—or Yingzi. You two are classmates, after all. Understood?”
“Yes, Aunt Song Qian,” Su Bai replied.
At the mention of her name, Song Qian’s cheeks flushed ever so slightly as memories of the previous night resurfaced.
She shook her head, trying to banish the thoughts from her mind.
By then, Su Bai and Qiao Yingzi had finished preparing to leave. After bidding Song Qian farewell, they departed.
Once inside the lift, Su Bai eagerly pulled a key from his schoolbag.
“What’s that key for?” Qiao Yingzi asked curiously.
Despite her earlier embarrassment, she had quickly moved past the morning’s awkward incident. Now, her attention was fully on the key Su Bai held.
Though she loved building Lego sets, the key looked far too cool to ignore.
“Do you want to know?” Su Bai teased.
“Of course I do!”
“You’ll replace out soon enough,” he said with a smirk.
“Hmph, playing coy, huh? Who cares anyway?” she huffed, though her excitement betrayed her words.
The lift quickly reached the ground floor.
Stepping out, Su Bai led Qiao Yingzi a short distance before stopping in front of a stunning red Ducati motorbike.
One glance, and Su Bai knew it was a Ducati Panigale V4—a pinnacle of power, technology, and design. Limited to only 500 units, each bike came with a unique serial number and a price tag starting at 1.5 million yuan.
It was also the only lightweight motorbike made entirely of carbon fibre and legally roadworthy.
Qiao Yingzi’s eyes were glued to the bike.
Its fiery red body and sleek design made it impossible to ignore.
Though she loved Lego, her heart secretly yearned for bikes like these. But she also knew that such things were off-limits to her. Her mother forbade even Lego at times—let alone motorbikes.
Yet, she quickly noticed a familiar symbol on the bike.
“Wait a second, isn’t that the same logo as on your key?” she thought in disbelief.
“You’re not seriously telling me this motorbike is yours, are you?” she asked, astonished.
Without a word, Su Bai walked over, inserted the key, and started the engine.
The bike roared to life with a throaty growl.
Unable to resist the temptation, Su Bai retrieved two helmets from a nearby planter—both items he had received from the system earlier. With a license in hand, he was ready to ride.
Handing one helmet to Qiao Yingzi, Su Bai mounted the bike himself.
After a moment’s hesitation, Qiao Yingzi donned the helmet and climbed on behind him.
“Hold on tight,” Su Bai said.
