Chapter 13: Happenings
Besides energy absorption, Alex's Six Eyes was also rapidly gaining experience. These two skills were in a permanent state, consuming the least amount of energy and were the easiest to upgrade.
While Alex continuously absorbed energy, practiced his skills, and strengthened himself, the outside world experienced earth-shattering changes.
First, Tony Stark, who had been missing for two months, made a return and immediately announced the closure of the weapons development division, causing Stark Industries' stock to plummet and creating a huge uproar.
Next, a terrifying green-skinned monster appeared at Culver University. The military attempted to capture it but was completely outmatched. The green-skinned monster wreaked havoc before leaving nonchalantly.
However, these two events, which should have been the headlines of any newspaper, were overshadowed by another piece of news!
This news redefined people's understanding of mutants.
On that day, people were reminded of the fear of being dominated by mutants!
The news was exclusively covered by Eddie Brock, a journalist from the Daily Globe. According to his account, he was on the scene and witnessed the battle between two powerful mutants. He saw the almost unbeatable mutant abilities and the overwhelming presence of the White Demon.
"The mutant with body-enhancing abilities was already incredibly strong. I believe he is not inferior to the green-skinned monster. However, in front of the White Demon, he had no power to resist."
Eddie Brock wrote in his article. He detailed the concept of mutant levels and stated that the White Demon was definitely a level five mutant or an Omega Level!
In the conclusion of the news article, Eddie Brock wrote:
"The terrifying singularity, even its scattered power is enough to tear everything apart. Nothing can withstand a direct hit from it
It's clear that the White Demon is not yet proficient with this ability, which means he has even greater potential for growth. Once he fully masters it, he will be more terrifying than Magneto!"
This report quickly fermented in society.
Some citizens expressed, "Didn't the government say that mutants are not a threat? Why is there such a powerful mutant!"
Others were filled with fear, "If he continues to grow stronger, he could easily kill all humans. The government must capture him as soon as possible."
There were even worshippers of the White Demon, "He is a god! A miracle descended to earth. We should worship him as our lord!"
There were also voices differing from these mainstream opinions. These came from oppressed mutants who used various hidden IPs to speak out on major social platforms,
"He is the savior of mutants, the leader of mutants!
The government has been oppressing mutants indiscriminately, using them for inhumane experiments. The leader will guide us in our rebellion!"
"That's right, we will follow him forever!"
...
In a hidden, luxurious room in Hell's Kitchen, Kingpin stared grimly at the newspaper in front of him, focusing on the terrifying singularity and the thousand-meter-long ravine it had left behind.
Wasn't he supposed to be just an ordinary mutant?
Why is he so powerful!
As time passed, his unease grew because Bullseye had not returned.
Kingpin stayed awake for an entire day, sitting in his chair and waiting. As dawn broke and the sky lightened, he finally accepted that Bullseye had utterly failed and was probably dead. Sitting on the throne of the underground empire for decades, Kingpin had not felt this way in a long time-the feeling of powerlessness and fear...
Even though he was an emperor, he was still just a mortal. How could he resist someone who seems to have the power of a god?
...
High above in the sky, inside a massive aircraft carrier,
Nick Fury stared unblinkingly at the information in front of him, while Agent Coulson stood cautiously nearby. The boss had been in this position for a long time.
Suddenly, Nick Fury closed the file, looked up, and fixed his sharp gaze on Coulson.
"Agent Coulson, use all means to replace him and recruit him. He will be a crucial pillar of the Avengers Initiative!"
"Yes, sir!"
The simulated breeze in the cabin lifted the corner of the file, revealing a few high-resolution photos.
A blue-black hole, a black and red singularity, a mysterious space defense, and finally, the white haired man.
After Coulson left, Nick Fury's voice echoed in the room once more, "Such a dangerous mutant must be under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s surveillance."
In a secluded office, faint screams could occasionally be heard from outside-agonized cries
of mutants subjected to experiments in the lab.
Colonel Stryker looked at the information in his hand, his face darkening.
"Damn it, damn it! Gather more forces and capture that damned mutant scum!"
In a remote part of New York, the two most powerful mutant factions gathered. If the government knew that the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants were secretly meeting, they would undoubtedly increase the threat level of the X-Men by several degrees.
Magneto, wearing his distinctive helmet, and Professor X, seated in his wheelchair, faced each other across the meeting table.
Magneto spoke first:
"Charles, if we can harness his power, in time we could kill all humans and create a peaceful world where only mutants exist!"
Hearing Magneto's words, Professor X shook his head, his expression serious as he replied:
"Erik, you are too aggressive. Humans and mutants can definitely coexist peacefully."
"Peace? Are you talking about the government's relentless persecution of mutants and their constant, brutal experiments?"
"I will make them change!"
Hearing his old friend's words, Magneto looked at him in disappointment,
"You're too naive. Blood must be repaid with more blood!"
The members of the Brotherhood of Mutants behind Magneto looked at him with admiration,
their leader who would lead them in rebellion.
"Your thinking is wrong. That is only a small fraction of people. You can't condemn all of humanity for the crimes of a few!"
The X-Men members behind Professor X mirrored his serious expression, believing only the compassionate Professor X could help mutants achieve a brighter future.
With their discussion at an impasse, Magneto angrily stood up and walked towards the door, followed by many Brotherhood members.
"I will replace him and lead him down the truly correct path!"
"Erik, you know that I will stop you."
"Do your worst."
...
Alex was unaware of these external events as he was busy planning his future.
Unlocking the template required energy, and using skills required energy. Ultimately, he
lacked energy.
Relying solely on absorbing electrical energy was not sustainable and could draw official
attention.
Therefore, the most important task was to replace a stable energy source.
Regarding the Infinity Stones, he was currently too weak, and the risk of acquiring them was
too high. So, for now, there was only one option:
The Arc Reactor
Meanwhile, after absorbing electrical energy for a long time, the system sent another
prompt:
[Congratulations, Energy Absorption has upgraded!]
