Chapter 266: Ch.265 No Comparison, No Damage

The German soldiers quickly noticed the black-and-yellow armored figure. They didn't know what had happened above ground, as they were part of the Paris garrison, essentially a second-line unit.

Su Ming walked up to Nick, casually standing in the middle of the tunnel, making no effort to take cover.

A mutated dog lunged at him, but with a simple movement, Su Ming extended some black tendrils from his armor, grabbed the dog, and with a swift pull, the creature's flesh and organs beneath its head vanished instantly.

What remained was a skeleton that still writhed in the darkness. The dog wasn't even dead yet.

Su Ming applied a bit more pressure, crushing the dog's head before tossing it aside. He seemed dissatisfied, and patted the symbiote, sending it a mental command.

"Don't eat everything. These six-legged dogs are clearly radiation products—too filthy."

The symbiote sent back a faint feeling of disappointment, which surprised Su Ming slightly. It had evolved enough to convey emotions to its host.

A bit fast, he thought. He'd have to keep an eye on it.

To the others watching, it appeared as though this armored figure had turned the dog into a skeleton instantly, then patted his stomach like he wasn't full.

"Der Flankenangriff!" one of the Germans shouted, and soon a hail of bullets rained down on Su Ming.

Unfortunately for them, these were regular bullets and had no effect on Deathstroke. They bounced off his armor like pebbles, forming a pile of flattened bullets at his feet, resembling a small mound of coins.

Nick, peeking from behind cover, saw the glowing red eye of Su Ming turn toward him. Despite being hit by a barrage of bullets, Su Ming stood there steadily, sparks flying off his armor as he spoke in a raspy, low voice.

"Nick Fury... we meet again. Looks like you've lost even more hair since the last time."

Nick instinctively touched his balding head, a mix of sadness and frustration filling his eyes.

Wasn't this your fault? I used to have beautiful curls—wasn't I the most stylish one in SSR?

But as a trained agent, external circumstances rarely affected him for long. Nick quickly regained his composure. "You've got time for chit-chat in the middle of a fight?"

"Why not?" Su Ming shrugged, yanking his giant sword from the wall, causing rubble and dust to rain down. "You guys are pitiful, being chased around by a bunch of armored grenadiers."

"They aren't just regular grenadiers—they're cybernetic soldiers, cooperating with those bio-mutated monsters." Nick was irritated but shared the information.

For Su Ming, the intel was inconsequential. So what if they were cybernetic soldiers handling mutant dogs? What's the difference?

"Heh, the strategic smarts of SSR agents leave much to be desired. Did you even understand the command the Germans just gave?" Su Ming, still under the barrage of gunfire, laughed in the midst of the metallic clatter.

"Yes, it means 'flank attack' in German." Nick's basic skills were solid. He had learned German but rarely had a chance to use it, especially since Black people had no place infiltrating or extracting information in Nazi Germany.

Su Ming nodded and casually swung his sword, cutting down several of the mutant dogs, holding the frontline with ease. "Der Flankenangriff is a tactical term used by grenadiers. No matter how much they upgrade their equipment or augment their bodies, their tactics remain unchanged. Haven't you learned anything after all these years of war?"

Nick's lips twitched. Not everyone was like you—immune to bullets, incredibly strong, and treating monsters like they were just cookies.

Su Ming could read Nick's thoughts. At this point, without his iconic eyepatch, Nick was still a bit green.

"Grenadiers are meant to support armored units in battle. Now, they're working with these bio-mutant dogs instead. But when tanks or monsters charge, they have no choice but to keep up."

Su Ming shot down a few enemies with his pistol, but the cybernetic soldiers weren't easily killed. They kept advancing, even after being hit.

"If they were working with tanks, they could radio the tank to slow down. But can you stop a pack of rabid dogs?"

Nick pondered this, starting to understand.

"You're saying we should sever the connection between the two groups?"

Su Ming gave him a look that screamed "idiot," which Nick could feel despite the mask covering Su Ming's face.

"If you had the strength to counterattack, sure. But my point is that these dogs don't have grenade launchers. They can't clear obstacles. You're in the sewer—did it never occur to you to collapse the ceiling and block their path? Gravity would do most of the work for you, and you could set up a trap."

Collapse the ceiling... collapse the ceiling...

Nick's expression shifted multiple times before he finally sighed. He realized he had a lot to learn, especially when it came to being as ruthless as Su Ming.

He had been too concerned with the opinions of his allies. As an agent, he sometimes overthought things and forgot that, at heart, he was a soldier.

It's just blowing up a section of sewer, after all. The situation is dire—surely the French Resistance fighters wouldn't object.

"You're right. It was my failure in command, but we can still fix it."

"Sure, Steve's been turned into a rag doll. Is that giving you doubts about super soldiers? Just stand there and watch my back."

Su Ming smirked and charged into the enemy ranks, swinging his massive sword. In the flickering beams of the German searchlights, the golden glow of his sword intensified. Occasionally, dark shapes—possibly black tendrils—emerged from his back, leaving behind piles of half-metal, half-bone corpses.

The symbiote soon picked up several guns. As Su Ming waded into the enemy ranks, it fired them all wildly, clearing out the enemy almost instantly.

Once the guns ran out of ammo, the symbiote discarded them into the water. While it had developed intelligence, it hadn't learned how to reload yet.

The symbiote was constantly learning. The higher the host's intelligence, the more skills it could acquire and the stronger it became.

When it had bonded with simple creatures like yetis, the symbiote's abilities had barely been developed—just brute strength and some mimicry. But now, with Su Ming as its host, it had learned to liquefy the host's body from X-metal, mastered camouflage from his armor, and learned to use firearms from Halloway.

It had even started to understand human interactions—like flattery and cuteness.

Su Ming strolled through the fallen enemies, casually finishing them off with his sword. The entire process took less than two minutes.

"Done. Time to clock out." Su Ming sheathed his Godslayer, the golden sword shrinking into a small dagger as he clipped it back onto his belt. He leisurely walked back to Nick.

"You seem surprised. Last time I visited your base, I wasn't even using my real skills."

Nick was indeed stunned. He hadn't expected Deathstroke to be this overwhelmingly powerful. As Su Ming had said, their last encounter had merely been a friendly visit.

Even now, Su Ming had only shown a fraction of his abilities. He hadn't used the Cloak of Levitation, the Nightblade, or his X-metal skeleton.

Still, even this was enough to elevate Su Ming's status significantly in Nick's mind.

Nick rubbed his now mostly bald head and glanced at the unconscious Steve behind him. The comparison was clear: next to Su Ming, Captain America seemed like a cheap knockoff.

"Did Dr. Erskine trick the SSR or something...?" Nick wondered aloud.
