213 Roast to Death

(Tom’s PoV)

His eyes were wavering in fear and intimidation. Any normal man with small guts would cower in fear, indeed.

But, he wasn’t supposed to be any normal man. He was the master of Cloud Army, but how could he be easily intimidated by her?

“Oh, what’s this? Who is this? I haven’t seen her around you.” One of his friends might think that it was alright to joke around. The way he saw her was always disgusting that I wish I could stab him in his eyes, to blind him forever.

“Rasha, where did you get this beautiful girl? You managed to hide her so long, what did you do to make her looking for you like this? Ah, is it because you grew bored of her so she came to you?” Another stupid man said with a mocking smile on his face.

The others responded with laughter as they sneered at Jane. I huffed in annoyance. We couldn’t hit commoners, after all.

No, we could. It was just... fighting with raw strength would be too tiring. I planned to use our power to teach these brats some lessons, but Siji said there would be some consequences.

Whatever it was, I honestly didn’t plan to know about it. We all knew about it; Sanji, Jane, and me. Even though there was no tacit understanding between us, I believed that we all didn’t want to taste it.

However, I was seriously underestimating Jane’s ability to challenge the rules. Without being able to do anything to prevent it, with a wave of her hand, all of those men got their mouths shut. Panic painted their faces as they couldn’t make any sounds at all. It looked ridiculously strange for them and the others, but we knew perfectly well why.

.....

All of his friends, except him.

I smirked. If it had come to this, let me help her to get rid of these annoying bastards. Picking up on the back of their collars, Sanji and I started dragging them out of the café, ignoring the stares people gave us.

Holding one boy in our each hand, we threw the boys out in the open. Right after that, they got their voices back. Hysterical howling in horror resounded in the street, making all the passer-by startled and threw them questioning look.

“Stop howling and go back home.” I shooed them all. There was not even an ounce of pity in my voice when I said that. I even thought that they were lucky enough to only lose their voice temporarily. If I were Jane, I would have made them blind for three months!

Probably being scared out of their wits, my warning to them was obeyed immediately. They all stood up, scrambled on their feet and ran away with their hands on their neck where scream of horror came out along the way.

Not only human, even the wandering ghosts nearby all looked at them in confusion. The scene looked comical to me but I didn’t have the mood to laugh.

As fear tended to attract bad and evil ghost, not long after they ran away, those ghosts flew towards them rapidly. Those poor boys didn’t know they had been marked by evil ghosts. Well, some of them were bound to get sick for days, I sighed.

I was about to get inside the café once again when the door was pushed opened harshly from inside. It was Jane, and she was pulling someone with her other hands.

It was Rasha, the real master of Cloud Army.

His face was mixed of fear and anger, but Jane didn’t seem to care about it. If Jane was pulling him on his hand, I bet some people would think that she was here to shoot some sort of cheesy romantic short movie. However, she was clutching at his collar and pulling him behind her, creating a rather comical scene to enjoy.

Completed with his pale face, he looked like a husband who got caught red-handed having affair outside. I wasn’t supposed to laugh at him, but I couldn’t help it.

However, coming out like this would surely attract people’s eyes even more. I had no choice but to manipulate the eyes of the people around us. Not hiding in the other dimension, but just using a trick to change their perspective.

Otherwise, those smartphones of them would be filled with the videos of Jane dragging a young man on the street and in a matter of second, most people in the world would see it.

It would be bad for her reputation.

As expected, those people who loved to see a good show had all turned their heads away. They didn’t notice us. However, I couldn’t keep doing it. I was relieved when I saw making a turn on an alley nearby. Right when no people were around, I pulled open the curtain that had been separating us from the other dimension and Jane stepped inside with Rasha.

I guessed it was not something that Rasha could see every day. Even though he was gifted with sixth sense and power to be the master of Cloud Army, but he had indulged himself in normal person’s activity instead of tempering himself to be better as a Master. Therefore, even though he had witnessed how his uncle led the army, he had never experienced the feeling of crossing other dimension.

He could see it, but because of his ignorance, he didn’t know that he had been seeing the curtains, doors, or even borders to the other dimension.

Judging from his expression, it was his first time crossing the other dimension.

“Wait! Who are you?” Snapping back from his trance, Rasha started to struggle free from Jane’s clutch.

Jane stopped and released him. Then, she turned to look at him. The way her cold gaze shot towards that poor man, I could see what he would be in the next hour.

“Fire Bearer, come.” Jane said in a low tone.

I blinked my eyes. Fire bearer? What would she do with them?

As soon as she finished saying those words, those White Army men bearing blue fire appeared behind her in a flash.

“Whatever she does, she must have thought about it before. Let’s just watch.” Sanji said. He sounded so calm. The way he trusted her was comparable to me.

Anyway, he was right. Jane must have thought of something. We should just wait and watch the show. Ah, also... we needed to be cautious in case this poor man planned to escape.

Rasha’s eyes widened as he saw those mighty looking fire bearers. “You...” He choked a bit.

“Summon your army if you don’t want to be roasted to death.” Jane said as she waved her hand and the blue fire behind her became even bigger and higher.

This scene was unbelievably terrifying if the one she confronted was an enemy, but in our eyes -in my eyes -it was beautiful. In the dim surroundings of astral world, she was standing there with blue fire as her background. The blue light emanating from the fire made her looked like a high ranking priest in the game, looking ethereal and intimidating at the same time.

I always knew fire was her forte, but how could she make it look like the fire was not dangerous at all? Even a kid knew better not to play with fire, but with her as the center, the fire seemed harmless and invited people to touch it.

I shook my head slightly. I thought I was so in love with her that if she wanted me to jump into it, I wouldn’t hesitate to do so.

My eyes shifted to the frightened man in front of her. What I saw really made me speechless. If he could get any paler, he would. His legs were wobbling in fear as he stepped backwards.

“Young man, I suggest you to call your men right now. In any minutes, when she starts attacking, you won’t have the chance to run away, I tell you. Just summon them and they will do the job.” If you have the ability to make them work, of course. I added that inwardly.

“What men?!” He shouted.

“Cloud Army. Don’t play a fool. We know you are the real master of Cloud Army.” Sanji said calmly.

“What Cloud Army?!” He asked again. It looked like the fear had turned him stupid.

We didn’t have time to explain it to him, or rather, we didn’t want to explain it to him. It would be a waste of our energy. Jane didn’t give time for him to prepare himself as she stated her order.

“Go.” As soon as her voice was heard, streak of blue light shot towards Rasha in a flash. What followed after that was painful howling that came from the supposed-to-be-master of Cloud Army.

Well, let’s just hope he would be okay after this.
