My Unconventional Lover: Seeing A Different World -
Chapter 244
244 The Lonely Devil (5)
(Jane’s PoV)
“Do you miss me?”
The red devil halted its movement without taking its eyes away from me. A low growl escaped from its throat and without wasting any second, it pounced on me before I could even stop properly.
It was so sudden but it didn’t mean I didn’t prepare for it. With just a bit of twist of my body and feet, I managed to dodge its attack. Its huge body created a buzzing sound when it delivered its punch, a sign that it did take me seriously.
“Trying to catch me off guard? How cute!” I smirked. Blue flame covered my hands again as I made my move.
Here, in this world, I didn’t need to hold back. I went all out battling with it until the gloomy surrounding changed into a bright one with blue flame flickering here and there. It growled even more ferocious as the time ticked by. It didn’t seem to accept the fact that it couldn’t touch even the edge of my clothes. With its big body -three times my own body, it looked slow in my eyes thus made it unable to see my movement.
I guessed I must have hurt its pride.
“Human, who are you?”
I tilted my head as I looked at the wounded devil in front of me. “Now you want to know who I am?”
.....
“Just answer the damn question! It’s been a long time since I found someone who can fight with me this long.”
“Is it your last wish?” I was just teasing, of course! I didn’t even know whether eliminating this creature would be a good thing or not. Surely, if I did, it wouldn’t trigger any butterfly effect, no?
Probably it would create a bigger war between devils and human? I surely didn’t want any of that to happen. I had so many things at hand and I really wanted to enjoy my normal days. I still needed to continue my study in the college -before my father scolded me for taking a long leave!
So yeah, beating it up might be a yes for me, but not killing it -unless someone told me I could do it.
“Last wish, my *ss!” It shouted in rage as it pounced at me again.
Its big fist came down at me with its remaining force. It had exhausted most of its strength so it was not that powerful for now. But, it was pretty much still powerful enough to knock me down if I underestimated it.
Of course, I had prepared myself. With the blue flame in my fist, enhanced by my own spiritual power, I dodged to the side and grabbed its wrist. Such a big move with a big body, it was too easy to dodge. I could feel the vibration from its fist and the air surrounding it when my own hand made contact with it. It was really powerful, indeed.
It roared in pain when my blue flame burned its skin and rapidly advancing to its body. Despite the agony it felt, its red eyes flashed and it used its other hands to attack me. My free hand met its hand and another amount of fire burned it.
I had full control over the fire, of course. If I were to let it burn to its highest power, this red devil would have turned into a pile of ashes long ago.
BOOM!!
The ground shook when I threw the big body of the devil onto it with a loud sound. Twisting the arms behind its back, I stepped my foot on its back while chaining the arms and legs with the blue flame. With its arms and legs were bound, it totally became immobile and could only let out painful howl and growl.
“It seems you’re so eager to know who I am. Then, let me tell you.” I smirked as I said in a low tone from its back. I paused for a bit, meeting its gaze full of hatred from the corner of its slanted eyes with a smile on my face. “New master of White Army. Nice to meet you.”
The light in its eyes flickered as shock was clearly seen in those red orbs. There was no hatred, just shock and fear. “It’s... it’s you...” It whispered through it gritted teeth.
I waved my hands and the blue flame disappeared from its body, leaving black marks here and there -save the one I used to tie it up. Its terrifying look turned pathetic. Its aura even got suppressed a lot and I couldn’t even sense the bloodlust emitting from its body.
It had completely disappeared.
“Now tell me, who is your boss?”
“No! I won’t tell you!” It shook its head stubbornly.
I sighed. “I want to know the reason why he attacked the border. I just want to meet him. Maybe have a small talk.” I shrugged my shoulders. “Probably a few warning.” A smirk appeared on my face.
“No! My Lord didn’t tell me anything! He didn’t order me anything!” It was funny how this guy would get so riled up when I talked about its boss.
It was like a naughty kid got caught doing bad things and afraid that his mom or dad would replace out about it.
“Oh, so you are acting out of order.” I nodded my head. “Well, why don’t you call your underlings lest they wreck havoc in the human world now?”
“W-why should I?”
“Still trying to resist?” I chuckled in amusement. With a flick of finger, the blue flame started to burn its hands and it started to howl in agony again.
“If I eliminate you here, your underlings will lose their leader and they will get summoned back forcefully. It’s simple, actually, but must you refuse to do it?” I said unhurriedly while looking around carefully.
Far away from where I was standing, I saw a big castle in the feet of a volcano. It looked dark and gloomy, a perfect picture for horror movie. There was no bats, but the dark smoke rose from it was enough to scare ordinary people away -not that ordinary people could enter this place as much as they liked it.
“Is there where your boss is?” I pointed at the red devil who was still clenching its teeth, bearing the pain from the blue flame.
I noticed the flickering in its gaze, of course. “Well, anytime you want, you can summon them back. But, if you still refuse to do it, the flame will burn you alive in five minutes. My friend out there is not weak, you know. You just serve your underlings on the silver plater to be his practice partners. Take your time!” I smiled and waved goodbye to it, ignoring the horror in its eyes before I rushed towards the eerie castle.
Judging from the form of the castle, I had a hunch that maybe the one inside was someone from a higher position. The boss might be someone so powerful. Could I handle this devil, then?
I really had no idea. All I knew was I wanted to see and talk to him.
Thinking about it now, it was a seriously stupid idea.
It didn’t take long for me to finally reach the gate. Yeah, good one. Why did they need gate anyway?
I looked around. Surely they didn’t have a doorman here, right?
Pushing the gate opened, I stepped inside carefully. Was it really a demon’s lair or a haunted house?
The yard was surprisingly clean, though. One would imagine skulls and skeletons were here and there in the demon’s lair, but this yard was nothing close to that. It was eerie, indeed, but it was ... normal.
I thought I would face many things once I stepped inside this place, that it would be another adventure for me. Who knew that this place looked more like a deserted place than an actual demon’s lair?
Or, was I wrong? Maybe this place was indeed an abandoned site.
I thought only human would do that.
I stopped in front of a super big black door. It looked like it was tightly closed, but when I tried to push it, it creaked open right away.
The sound made me shiver slightly. I thought I had got used to anything related to horror since I started seeing ghosts, but creepy sound was still creepy -horror or not. The sound of the hinges reverberated in the spacious room as the heavy door moved.
It looked like a big hall -a large one -with big pillars supporting the ceiling. Everything was gloomy there with the only source of light was the orbs flying here and there. A suffocated feeling crept in my heart even before I moved my feet to enter the room. There was no signs of demons, but I didn’t lower my guard even just a bit. Instead, I made myself even more aware with my surrounding.
“Who’s there?” A familiar voice travelled to my ears.
I straightened my body as I stared at the source of the voice. Too bad it was too dark to see anything. Before I could summon my flame to help me light up the area, the torches on the pillars were lit out of nowhere, immediately turning the gloomy room into a bright one.
Sitting at the end of the room with the warm light from the fire illuminated him was a man whom I had not seen for a while.
