260 Please, Don’t Die!

(Jane’s PoV)

My threat seemed to be effective since I couldn’t hear any words from them -whatever they are. The fire kept burning and somehow I could sense the exact place of where the portals were. I guided my power towards them and covered them with my smoke. The feeling was weird but extraordinary. I felt as if I was there, in five different places at the same time.

My hand was reaching out to the portal, fixing it at the same time. The glow of flame was getting brighter as soon as I started it. It didn’t take long before I pulled out my hand and I watched the portal was closing up in the speed of naked eyes could see.

All the beings that came out from it wailed and rushed back into the portals. No, instead of rushing back, it was more accurate to say that they were sucked back into the portal. Their reluctance were clear in their eyes. Their claws were extended at me, trying their best to hurt me before they got sucked into the portals. However, my protective barrier gave them a taste of my flame before they could lay their dirty claws on me. In the end, their desperate wail was the only one echoing in the air.

Even the higher level demons couldn’t do anything to me other than glared at me.

When all the chaos finally subsided, the surrounding area turned serene. There was only some remainder of their negative energy in the air as a reminder that they were here. However, it wouldn’t be long before it started dissipating into nothingness.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to fully witness it as I was pulled back forcefully. The reason was I suddenly felt drained. My body and power weakened hastily with no reason. I truly felt that I was okay earlier, so what’s with the sudden change?

My eyes were closed when I felt the change of gravity around me. My back hit the cold ground and the temperature around me dropped to several degrees. There was a shift of change in the air, but I didn’t know what it was. Other than the thumping sound of my body hitting the ground, the panic voice belonged to Putra calling out my name easily covered the other sounds -if there was any.

“Jane!” In a flash, I could sense that he was sitting beside me. His voice was too loud for my ears. I felt that my eardrums were about to burst, coupled with the fact that my body felt powerless. I thought that I was going to say good bye soon if not for his loud voice entering my ears.

.....

“No! No! No! Please, don’t die!” He said between his sobs. His hands were poking my arms, trying to evoke some response from me.

If only my body didn’t feel heavy...

If only my tongue didn’t feel numb...

I would have smacked his head for crying as if he was mourning over my death. I would have scolded him for jinxing me with the word ‘die’.

Sadly, even lifting a finger was painfully difficult for me, not to mention doing what I had in mind. I could only bear with his sobbing and continuous poking on my arm.

Normal people would have shaken my body to wake me up but this incredibly adorable creature was poking me carefully while crying out for me not to die.

I didn’t know whether I should laugh or just spank him!

Just let him be, let him be. That’s what I told myself repeatedly.

It took a lot of effort, but I finally managed to shut his voice out of hearing system. Once his voice was blocked, I could sense the streaming of energy outside my body was wrecking havoc, trying to enter my body in one go. Siji’s training really was really beneficial for my every action. My body automatic defense system prevented such thing to happen in order to avoid the overflowing energy which could lead to fatal result to my own body later.

I entered my consciousness and sighed when I saw it almost barren from any kind of energy. Sitting down cross-legged, I guided the energy outside to enter my body and focused on healing. The process took surprisingly lots of time. Since I blocked all my senses to focus on healing, I didn’t have any ideas what was going on around me.

I thought, since I was in Putra’s space, he must be taking care of me, right? Also, since I felt everything was going smoothly without any disturbance, I should be in perfectly good hands at t this moment. Therefore, I could slowly recover to my peak condition.

I had no idea how long the time had passed. By the time I opened my eyes, the familiar looking of the house’s ceiling where we stayed at in City Y filling my sight. When, how, and who moved me, I had no idea.

My first reaction was to move my fingers. The slight stiffness in my joints was a proof that I had been unconscious for a long time. Someone must have been massaging it to lessen the stiffness, still I could feel them. After making sure that there was nothing wrong with my muscles -other than feeling slightly discomfort -I tried to get up and look around me only to replace that there was no one in the room.

Crossing my legs on the bed, I closed my eyes to do a final check upon my body. Spiritually, I felt awesome. Physically, other than the slight numb feeling, I felt good. The sound of door creaking reached my ears and I opened my eyes to see the guest. My eyes met a pair of odd-looking eyes which were soon brimming with tears.

“You nasty woman! Evil! Stupid! I thought you’re going to die! Wuaa~” Putra pounced on me and cried out loud while hugging me.

His tears soon wet my clothes and I could only laugh helplessly. My hand went to pat his back softly, trying to console him. His tongue was still sharp as usual. I still had not talked about how he jinxed me, but seeing his tears, my heart softened.

Forget it, I would just let him be for real this time.

“I won’t die yet. Don’t worry!” I told him softly.

“Wuaa~ Stop lying, you woman. That woman also said that she wouldn’t die, but she died in the end!”
