92 Spirit, Soul, and Shadow (2)

I could touch him!

My hands touched his body repeatedly. It was still a bit cold, but at least I could touch him now!

“Tom...” My voice came out like whisper, but my eyes didn’t leave my hands that were still touching him.

“Are you okay?” He asked carefully. His voice was laced with worry but I couldn’t appreciate his worry for me, not when I could touch him like this.

“Tom!” I called out again, this time I looked up and looked at his eyes. He was startled but he returned my gaze. “I can touch you.” I said to him.

“W-what?” He blinked and stuttered.

“I said I can touch you!” I repeated as I continued touching his chest, his stomach, and finally his cheeks. “I can touch you for real!” I grinned.

I watched as his eyes widened and he touched my hands. After his transparent body made contact with my skin, his already wide eyes widened even more, creating a comical expression on him.

“It’s real.” He whispered. He pulled my hands from his cheeks as he laced his fingers with mine, feeling the warmth of body on his.

.....

After proving that his body would not pass through my body like usual, he broke into wide grin. “What happened? Why did it happen? I’m happy, of course, but this turn of event is just too shocking to be accepted. There must be some hidden effect.” Tom said as he played with my fingers.

He was right. Before I could say anything, a familiar voice interrupted us.

“Milady, I’ve done what you ordered me to do.” Siji came to report. Then, his eyes shifted to Tom and to our intertwine fingers.

“What is a spirit doing here?” He asked.

There it goes again! Spirit?

“What do you mean?” I asked him.

“Milady, forgive my rudeness, but it’s better for you not to get close to spirit. Your presence could disturb the flow of thread connecting the spirit with the body, which will affect the body losing the spirit needed by the soul and the body will die. A spirit is just a part of active soul of a body which is in comma or serious injury. Even though I said it is just a part of an active soul, it is actually one of the vital parts of soul which responsible with the flow of emotion and memory. If the person loses her or his spirit during comma, the person might become mentally retarded.” Siji explained briefly, but it was enough to make us shocked.

Now I knew what spirit was, how could I bear to let him stay with me?

Turned out he did see his own body at that time, but where was it?

“Spirit, you need to return to your own body and replace the right timing to return. Don’t stay too close to Milady before you return to your body. It will affect your chance to get back to your body. Trust me, you’re not the only spirit I’ve met. I’m warning you because I see you’re close with our Milady. Now, go back to where your body is.” Siji reminded Tom in a rightful manner.

“Thank you, Siji. If not for you, I might have ruined his chance to stay alive.” I nodded at him. “You’re dismissed.”

Siji looked like he still wanted to tell me something, but he held it in. He bowed once more and disappeared.

After he left, I exchanged look with Tom. There was complicated look inside his eyes. I admitted, there was too much of information that needed to be processed.

First, my guess was right. Tom was too human for a ghost. Turned out he was not one. He was a spirit.

Which came to the second issue. A spirit meant he still had the opportunity to be alive. Tom was still alive, but where his body was still an issue to solve.

The third was he couldn’t stay close to me in his spirit form, which meant we had to be separated. (T_T) He needed to return to his body to grab the chance to be one with his soul and body.

Where was his body actually? I had the sudden urge to replace the way to replace his body, but I didn’t know where to start looking.

“Tom...” I called out softly.

“After I can finally touch you, you want to drive me away?” Tom interrupted, but there was no anger in his voice.

I smiled apologetically. “Promise me you won’t forget about me when you wake up later.” I held onto his hand.

“What? Do you think we are in some cheap drama where someone who wakes up from comma got amnesia?” He chuckled. “Silly girl. I won’t forget about you. If I do somehow, you’re allowed to hit my head so hard, deal?”

I pouted. Would I have the courage to hit him if he really forgot about me? I didn’t think so. “Don’t say that. Just come back safely. If only I could know where you were all this time.” I let out a heavy sigh.

“Milady, I can help you to send him back to where his body is.” Siji appeared suddenly.

My breath hitched as I was startled with the way he appeared. “Siji.” I growled at him. His confession brought a heavy feeling inside my heart. On one hand, I wanted Tom to return to his body quickly, but on the other hand, I didn’t want him to go. Siji said he knew how to make Tom return to where his body was, and I had the urge to strangle him for giving us an easy way out.

I thought I was too selfish at that time.

“Siji, are you sure you could send him at the right place? Can you tell me where it is?” I eagerly looked at Siji.

“Milady, I may be able to send him, but I have no idea where he is. I will only guide him through his thread that connecting him to his body, then I’ll leave him alone.” Siji smiled apologetically.
