Chapter 415 The Speed Battle!

415  The Speed Battle!

Boom!

Once Sebastian found reasons to go all out, he put aside any other misgivings that were in his head and gave a single focus to going all out.

The moment when he activated his mega dash skill, he picked up speed as he entered the fray of competition predators alongside other predators who woke up like him and finally understood their current circumstances.

Most of these predators were still left panicking, but they knew that staying in one place was suicide, they at least wanted to give their all to win.

All of them gave their all as they put in the effort to swim as fast as possible, but once Sebastian took his game up another level, he seemed to turn into a speed demon as he left all those that started at the same time with him in the dust.

Sebastian turned into a blue blur that was rapidly moving into the distance, eating yards of space while rapidly closing the distance to other predators.

In his supersonic speed state, Sebastian's speed could only be described as horrifying. From the back of the formation of predators, his sudden eruption of speed finally managed to catch the attention of the spectating Mana Lords.

Sebastian was like a Ferrari amidst a group of mini coopers as with his engine blasting loudly like exploding dominoes, he rapidly advanced through the ranks.

In just a few seconds after Sebastian exploded forth with speed, he started climbing the ranks rapidly. His speed was so much apart from most predators that it simply wasn't a challenge for him to overtake them.

Originally, after Sebastian got this skill, the biggest problem that he encountered was the rapid frequency at which it drained mana.

Well, after his latest breakthrough with his mana control skill that made mana become second nature to him, this was no longer a problem.

He could not just tap mana from his opponents in battle, in this race, all the participants made use of their mana to increase their speed, and this conveniently served as a readily available source of mana to him.

With so many sources of mana available to him, Sebastian was able to keep his tank full and could conveniently keep on blasting away with speed.

This way, his ascent became even more eye-catching to the spectating Mana Lords. Sebastian's performance could already be categorized as the most commanding performance by all the visiting beasts of other species.

At the top of the boulders where the signposts were erected, there was also a computerized screen that displayed the live data of every contestant's position.

While he swim-sprinted, Sebastian took note of his ranking.

When he just started, he was ranked 3429 which was enough to make any beast despair since the benchmark to escape the death penalty was to cross the 500 ranks, but now he was climbing above the 2000th rank.

{Blue Megalodon- Rank 2122.}

{Blue Megalodon- Rank 1937.}

{Blue Megalodon- Rank 1583.}

{Blue Megalodon- Rank 1211.}

With such a meteoric rise within a short time frame of 5 minutes, Sebastian's performance already caught a lot of attention as most of the spectators now focused on this dark horse beast that was rapidly rising through the ranks.

At this level, even with his supersonic speed skill still active, Sebastian found it hard to overtake his opponents as easily as before.

Despite the frequency having reduced, he still climbed the ranks steadily. This steady climbing continued until he got to the 800s in ranking.

By this time, he was already swim-sprinting for 10 minutes.

For some reason, as he had been paying attention to the reaction of the spectators through his sound control skill and combined super sensing, he detected the change when they started discussing him more frequently.

From their gestures, he easily deduced that something was happening on the front or there was an obstacle. This made him cautious but he did not stop.

Very soon, he discovered that most of his opponents ahead were slowing down. But why the hell were they slowing down?

Once Sebastian asked, he discovered the answer as through his combined super sensing, he finally discovered the change in terrain upfront.

Throughout the journey till now, he and the other competitors had been swim-sprinting along a track that was fairly smooth and straightforward. There were no obstacles and obstructions, but this finally changed.

Upfront, the terrain along the track of the test changed into what seemed like the environment of a rapid waterfall.

The water movement speed increased, the pressure became stronger, and the most dangerous element was the rocks flying around randomly in the water.

Once Sebastian saw this, he hit the breaks but he was already too close, and he was moving too fast.

"Shit, f*ck that!"

[You have activated skill: Mega Magic Shield!]

Boom!

Sebastian finally dove into the changed terrain of water.

The stones were hauled at him with such speed that he felt like he was being shelled by a hail of canons. His magic shield rippled to the damage; his vision turned wavy as he tried hard to correct his perception of his direction.

Not every beast tried as much as him though, most of the contestants got too carried away by their speed that they simply crashed on getting here.

Despite taking some damage, Sebastian was able to stabilize himself. And once he did, he made sure to activate another skill.

[You have activated skill: Acrobatic Maneuverability!]

With this skill, Sebastian seemed to turn into a circus dancer.

Like a magician, he started moving up and down, left and right as he rapidly weaved through the small openings among the flying stones.

He activated his mega dash skill again and regained his speed. He wasn't quite as fast as when he had his supersonic speed skill activated, but this enabled Sebastian to turn into a blazing race car compared to his competitors again.

He attracted the attention of the spectators again.

Throughout going through this terrain, Sebastian continually upped his game as he went all the way from his current rank to the 400s in ranking.

He already crossed the deadline to avoid death, but he was not satisfied. His goal was the 1st to 3rd place positions, and he was ready to get it by all means as he gave his all to accelerate and increase his speed even more.

At this moment, Sebastian was so focused that everything else was filtered out of his head by his brain. This continued until he finally left this terrain, going back to the normal smooth terrain where he could go at maximum speed.

By the time that he went back here, he was already at rank 198 and there was only a small distance to cross to get to the finish line.

Sebastian upped his game again, activating his supersonic speed skill but for the first time, Sebastian finally felt the difference.

All the contestants around him who were competing with him were now Mana Lords, these people had unlimited access to mana like him, and another fact was that they had specialized skills to increase speed.

They may not have one OP skill like his supersonic speed skill, but they had a couple of more normal ones to complement each other and they succeeded in increasing their speed to a horrifying level.

In this race, Sebastian became exposed to a truth.

He was Sebastian the predator, not Sebastian the speedster. All his life since transmigrating into Oceania, he had always been focused on increasing his strength, speed was just a way for him to exert even more strength.

This was why now that he was pitted against predators that were not as strong as him but were extremely strong in terms of speed, he faltered.

Despite faltering, Sebastian did not give up as he kept on firing on all sides with his supersonic speed skill. The distance between predators started widening as the skill level between them here was bigger.

{Congratulations to Meuer for crossing the finish line first!}

A minute later.

{Congratulations to Moron for crossing the finish line, finishing in 2nd place!}

A few seconds later.

{Congratulations to Meg for crossing the finish line, finishing in 3rd place!}

Despite all his determination and the effort that Sebastian put in, he finished the speed test ranked 147th.

Despite losing, he didn't feel bad because he knew that he gave his all and his opponents were just better.

"What a thrilling experience!"

And here's the 3rd chapter, a little late but still uploaded, now we're even.
