Chapter 30:.

Sara and Hugo got into the car and drove away from the University under the curious gaze of many classmates.

Already Sara imagined everything they could be talking about her. She didn’t mind the gossip, nor that people were talking about her, but she was indignant that after so many years showing such a decent behavior and without giving any scandal, now they came to accuse her.

She didn’t want to think any more about it, she would have time the next day, she went home with Hugo and they shared a quiet night of movies and junk food.

The next day Sara got out of bed early and headed to the university, she had mentally prepared herself for the million gossips and comments that could have circulated, but no amount of exercise she could have done was enough to be ready.

Many were the versions of the events of the previous day, Sara had gone from being the smartest girl in the university to becoming a lover, prostitute and even a gangster, supposedly she was the mistress of a mafioso.

Everyone murmured as they passed by, until Sara finally exploded and in the middle of the dining hall she climbed on top of a table and banging a spoon on the tray attracted the attention of her classmates.

“I know you all have a different idea about me and I’m tired of listening to you talking nonsense, you want to know the truth, well I’m going to tell you, I’m not a mistress, or anything like that, I’m a married woman and you better stop talking about me or look for trouble because my husband can become very ruthless, and he is a very important man, so I advise you to think a little more before opening your mouth again to mention my name or anything about me.”

They all kept muttering, but none of them dared to face her, they were afraid that what Sara said was true and they would end up asking for unnecessary trouble.

Sara came down from the table and smiled satisfied to shut all the mouths of those gossipers, a few hours later her phone rang announcing the arrival of a message, it was Hugo.

“I thought you wanted our relationship in secret, after not saying anything for three years, why are you telling all of a sudden?”

“I don’t care if it’s known or not, I didn’t keep it a secret for nothing special, I simply didn’t know you and I never saw you, why would I be saying I was married if in the end when they asked me about my husband I wouldn’t know what to say.

And if I said it now, it’s because I don’t want to keep hearing stupid rumors every time you show up here. Of course I wasn’t going to keep quiet and have the opportunity to defend myself, let it be clear that I am not one of the protagonists in the soap operas where they let everyone mistreat them and stay silent so as not to reveal an important secret.

I will always defend myself and use whatever I have in my favor. In any case, the only one to blame for this whole situation is you, so stop interfering in my life.”

“Too late I am already part of it, faithfully obeying the role of ruthless and overprotective husband you gave me, I already took care of your problems.”

Sara read the message twice and did not understand what it referred to, she was about to send another message to ask him when suddenly she heard a conversation of some girls in front of her. They were walking and talking and didn’t realize that Sara was following behind them.

“Did you hear about Lidia” spoke the first one.

“Yes, poor girl, to be left with nothing overnight. Nadia knows what really happened with her family’s company, we only know that from one day to the next they ended up bankrupt and owing a lot of money”.

“They say that her father ran away and abandoned her. Now she has to carry the debts”.

“I heard that all this was for messing with Sara, they say her husband is very powerful.”

The girls continued talking, but Sara did not want to continue listening to them, she entered the browser and searched for Lidia’s name, indeed everything the girls said was true, she had been left with nothing and her father had fled, leaving her with a lot of debts.

The first thing Sara thought when she heard the news was that Hugo had gone too far, there was no need to go to extremes, but when she thought about everything she had to go through because of Lidia she decided not to feel compassion, anyway, Lidia had not had compassion for her, so after all she deserved what was happening to her.

Karma definitely sucks, Sara thought, but then she rectified herself, Karma doesn’t suck, Hugo does, after all he was the one in charge of taking revenge.

Sara took out her cell phone and typed a word and then sent it.

Hugo was meeting with the directors of the Moretti Group subsidiaries, when Sara’s message arrived, a smile adorned his beautiful face when he read it and suddenly his mood became cheerful for the rest of the day.

A simple “thank you” was enough to make the ruthless tycoon spend the whole day laughing like a fool.
