Chapter 70:

“I’d like you to join me somewhere after dinner.”

“Do I have a choice?” scoffed Sara.

“You can always refuse and I’ll respect your decision, but I can continue to set everything up so we can stay as long as it takes until you agree to join me.” Sara snorted at the man’s attitude.

“Fine, I’ll come with you, but I’m leaving early tomorrow morning.”

“It’s your decision, everything is paid for a week, you can do whatever you want.

Sara felt a little better after listening to him, she ate and drank eagerly and silently.

Hugo from time to time tried to start a conversation, but Sara always ignored him. When they finished dinner Hugo quickly helped her by running her chair and put his arm around her to accompany him while they walked, but Sara passed him by without even looking at him.

Hugo accompanied her for a walk around the place until he took her to the beach, suddenly fireworks started to explode and illuminated the night sky. Sara was surprised for a moment, but then she was entertained watching the shapes and colors of the fireworks.

Hugo took advantage that she was absent-minded and took out a box from his pocket where there was a diamond necklace, Sara felt that something cold was placed on her neck, she wanted to resist, but Hugo spoke in her ear.

“Easy” he put a hand on her chin forcing her to look up as the next fireworks were a message.

Happy birthday Sara.

She was surprised, she didn’t even remember it was her birthday, Hugo leaned closer and whispered in her ear.

“Happy birthday sweetheart.”

Suddenly Sara understood everything that was happening, the kidnapping, the hotel, the clothes, the make-up, the necklace, the fireworks, all this was part of Hugo’s plan, a surprise plan for her.

He did all that to please her, Sara didn’t know whether to love him or hate him, she was overwhelmed with so many mixed feelings.

Hugo came over and put a diamond ring on her meno, it was matching the necklace, Sara took it off to give it back to him, but she noticed that it had something written inside.

“Ineffable.”
