Chapter 338
Chapter 338
Rhydon kept running, to get within range to use [Stone Edge], but whenever he was about to get within range, Gardevoir would always teleport away.
Gardevoir used up a lot of energy to use [Teleport] so quickly and frequently, but as long as she doesn't overuse it, she'll still have enough energy to use other moves later on.
Gary's expression kept getting worse and worse as time went by, but he knew there wasn't much he could do other than wait until Gardevoir couldn't use [Teleport] anymore.
Alex didn't say anything the whole time and just watched calmly.
Realizing that Gardevoir had used [Calm Mind] to the maximum, he started flashing a smile.
He said in a calm tone, "D2"
Gardevoir was 50 yards away from Rhydon and started preparing another move as [Calm Mind].
Rhydon, in less than 3 seconds, ran into the Range of the move, he had been meaning to use all along.
But when he got in range and used his move, Gardevoir finished preparing her move and used it immediately.
Rhydon was hit by a ridiculously fast beam of what appeared to be light, without even having time to dodge.
Almost simultaneously, several sharp-looking stones stick out of the ground where Gradevoir was just floating. Gardevoir tried to dodge but couldn't and was hit by a sharp stone.
These stones appear to emerge in extremely random locations and apart from emerging in a rough area, they don't seem to have any traceable rhythm.
Alex's expression turned serious when he saw that Gardevoir had lost about 40% of her HP from that 1 hit.
Rhydon being hit by [Dazzling Gleam] looked even worse than Gardevoir. Despite being two levels higher than Gardevoir, he lost 80% of his HP even though Gardevoir's move wasn't even effective against him or on the Master rank.
Rhydon's terrible defense against special moves and that the Gardevoir could buff to the max caused it to take extensive damage.
Gary said quickly, "Rhydon use [Take Down]"
But before he could finish his words, Gardevoir teleported to the other side of the arena.
Unfortunately, the [Teleport] consumption is very high or Alex would it use even more.
Gardevoir finished preparing her move and used it immediately after Rhydon was 30 yards away.
Normally, moves in this range are dodgeable with a typical speed.
Even a normal speed would allow most projectile moves to be dodged at this range.
Unfortunately, Rhydon was not only slow but also a big target. He tried to dodge but was hit regardless.
A projectile covered in Psychic-Energy, in the shape of a heart, flew rapidly in the direction of Rhydon.
Rhydon, who was gathering energy from another move, couldn't even [Protect] to protect himself.
He was hit by [Draining Kiss] and fell unconscious on the ground with an unwilling expression.
After falling to the ground, Fairy-type energy suddenly floated out of his body and straight towards Gardevoir.
Gardevoir absorbed this Fairy-type energy and most of her wounds began to heal.
Gary looked at Alex for a few seconds. "I underestimated you. But it's not over yet."
Without waiting for Alex's reply, he summoned his next Pokemon.

Alex was a bit confused as to why Gary would send those Pokemon against his Gardevoir and not Blastoise which is one level higher and didn't have a slight type disadvantage against Gardevoir. But when he saw Exeggutor's first Perfect Talent move, he understood immediately.
Sludge Bomb on Master rank is really a deadly move against Gardevoir.
Especially considering that Gardevoir has a 4 level disadvantage.
'hmm, but I have a feeling Gary had one more reason to choose this Pokemon over Blastoise. if I am right then, He's really not a bad trainer.'
Alex also believed that another reason why Gary chose this Pokemon is that he didn't want Gardevoir's [Hypnosis] to cause his Blastoise problem.
The referee restarts the match. "3,2,1,Go"
Alex said nothing and let Gardevoir follow his planned strategy.
"Exeggutor use [Teleport] +[Sludge Bomb]"
Alex's expression turned serious when he heard Gary's words.
Because [Sludge Bomb] is a Master rank move, Exeggutor can prepare two moves at once if it sacrifices preparation time and some damage. (1*)
If Exeggutor uses [Teleport] directly and then immediately [Sludge Bomb] afterward, Gardevoir cannot dodge this attack.
Alex suddenly said telepathically, "Gardevoir use [Dazzling Gleam] immediately when you're done. Exeggutor needs a lot of time and concentration right now preparing both moves so it can hit at that range. After that..."
Gary was looking at the arena when he suddenly saw Alex's head surrounded slightly by a purple aura. Though it can be missed if you're not looking directly, Gary noticed it almost immediately.
He thought with a serious expression, 'Alex is a psychic? He really has hidden his strengths well. What an annoying opponent.'
