Rise of the Crusader -
Chapter 242 The Drakaina
There was a frown on Vernon's face as he heard those words.
He knitted his brows and even though he was in a place that he completely ruled over, Vernon remained extremely vigilant.
If there was one thing the owner of the voice had already proved, then it was, he or she wasn't scared of Vernon… Not even in the slightest.
"Hehe" Followed by that chuckle was the sound of someone's footsteps.
And while Vernon could vividly hear the footstep of someone approaching him, it was difficult to discern where it was the person was actually coming from.
Vernon stared at the surrounding, and after a few seconds, his eyes widened and quickly he moved backward.
A shuriken immediately appeared in his hand, and hastily, Vernon threw it forward.
However, not so long after the shuriken was launched, it encountered an obstacle that caused it to simply hover in midair.
There was no visible sign of contact on the shuriken, yet it hovered in midair. As Vernon looked at the area around the shuriken, a frown appeared on his face.
"Come out!" He blurted.
"What do you mean by come out, I'm right in front of you, kid." It wasn't even up to a second after Vernon that he received a response.
The reply got Vernon's eyebrows, and even though he wasn't able to see the person in front of him, Vernon didn't doubt what had just been said.
For some reason, he felt the person was actually telling the truth, and he or she was indeed in front of him.
"I must say I'm impressed." Suddenly, the cold voice rang out. "The talent is there, and the bone structure is astounding, to be honest."
"But, there's something strange about you… You seem to have the same blood as other humans or metahumans, whatever they call it, but the genes are quite different."
"Hmm, interesting."
Throughout the entire time the person spoke, there was a grim look on Vernon's face. If after the person stepping into the blood moon world already made him take him or her seriously, then as he heard those words, he realized that he might have underestimated this person a little.
"What are you?" Vernon muttered in a serious voice.
His tone completely changed this time around, and so did the aura already on his body. While Vernon still looked the same, he appeared to be a whole different person from who he was a few minutes ago.
And briefly, after Vernon spoke, a figure materialized in front of him.
A tall and beautiful woman with long, silky black hair, clear violet eyes, and her slender body was donned in a red gown.
Vernon took a glance at her body from top to bottom before moving his gaze to her eyes. He peered deep into the woman's eyes without having the intention of backing down from her glares.
There were no words from both party, and time passed very quickly without any one of them breaking the silence.
However, after a few minutes, Vernon spoke. "A metabeast," He seized the woman from head to toe and then sneered.
Responding to Vernon's claim, the woman shook her head.
"Am I wrong?" Vernon asked.
"Yes." She replied.
"I am a beast, but not the 'meta' you included. Comparing yours truly with those lower entities is an insult." The woman clarified with a light smile on her face.
Though they were a smile on her face, it was a cold one.
There seemed to be a warning from the woman after uttering those words. She glared at Vernon, and upon seeing that slight change in her expression, Vernon smirked.
"I doubt there is a major difference between the both of them, so I will stick with meta beast." Said Vernon in a nonchalant voice.
The woman's lips curl inwardly upon hearing Vernon.
A tinge of killing intent t excluded from her body, however, less than two seconds after the intent emerged it disappeared.
"Why don't you ask that thing around your arms, what he thinks about that opinion of yours." She said.
The fact that she was able to analyze his body with only a glance made Vernon to look at the woman profoundly so when she spoke about what was around his arm, he wasn't surprised.
As she easily saw his genes, it couldn't be shocking that she could see what was underneath his cloth.
Suddenly, a long, slender frame like that of a snake emerged from Vernon's cloth. It coiled around Vernon's hand as soon as it emerged, before then staring at the woman in front.
The woman raised an eyebrow as she made eye contact with the snake, and not so long after the black snake emerged, a red snake appeared from Vernon's collar.
"Now I see why you're so confident in yourself." Said the woman. "With these two, there are only a handful of people here who are capable of killing you."
She added.
With that said, and the woman clapped her hand.
Vernon was about to speak when the environment around him changed. He was soon back in the tavern, and as he stared at the people around him, a frown appeared on his face.
Even though they were brought out of the illusion by the woman, Vernon anticipated for them to have been broken nonetheless.
However, there was not even a whiff of pain or scratch on any one of the people in the tavern. As Vernon glanced at those he tortured in the blood moon world, his brows furrowed.
"Don't act surprised, the female dragon is more powerful than you can imagine." It was one of the snakes that spoke.
Upon hearing the low voice of the black snake, Vernon's eyes widened. He stared at the woman who had a smile on her face, and his mouth opened slightly.
He finally understood why the woman had blatantly said not to compare herself with those lower entities.
"Come with me, there's something I want to discuss with you." Said the woman.
Vernon slowly nodded his head, and then followed the woman as she walked towards the door in the corner of the tavern.
