Rise of the Crusader
Chapter 90

90 The List

The rest of the journey was smooth, and once the trade-off was made, Vincent and the two teams returned to the academy.

As Raphael stepped into his room, he wasted no time and rushed to the room immediately. He then sat in front of the table and took a book out of his ring.

“I was wrong,” Raphael moved to the middle of the book and read the details in it. “The power isn’t as simple as I assumed it to be. It was just not used in the right way.” Raphael mumbled.

After his first fight with Adrian, Raphael had written the weakness and the method to deal with his powers in the book, but he failed to access the power totally.

It was when he saw Vincent using that same dark powers that he realized how narrow his thinking was.

The way Adrian had used the dark particles around him couldn’t compare in any way to how Vincent displayed them. Both were incomparable as with Adrian, Raphael was able to spot several flaws, but the same couldn’t be said with Vincent.

While Vincent didn’t move even a muscle in his fight against Luther and his men, Raphael wasn’t confident that he would be able to land a successful blow on Vincent even if he were to sneak attack.

Vincent’s ability to control dark powers was far greater than what Raphael imagined it to be. And despite all the stunts that Vincent pulled off on the ship, Raphael still had a feeling that that was merely the tip of the iceberg compared to what Vincent was really capable of.

“If it’s a life and death match, I’m confident in my powers, but I can’t allow it to result in that before I’m able to defend myself,” Raphael mumbled as he stared at Gus.

.....

Gus snorted and then hissed a couple of times after Raphael spoke.

Raphael, however, shook his head, “Yes, you’re right, I should have taken him seriously. I guess I was too relaxed and forgot what was at stake.”

There was then another long hiss and snort from Gus, which made Raphael’s lips curl inward. Gus then flashed Raphael a look that Raphael was as certain that it was a scornful look.

Raphael turned towards the owl that was walking around the table, “You know, I have always wondered what an owl would taste like.” Raphael said with a smile on his face.

When Gus heard Raphael, its eyes twitched, a second after that he saw the smile on Raphael’s face, it flew away from the table.

Seeing Gus that had just gone to its perch and shut its eyes close, Raphael chuckled.

“Now, what gadget do I need for this sort of situation,” Raphael spoke and then turned the book over to the last page.

On the last page of the book, there were several drawings in it, and if Serena or any one of Raphael’s clients were here, then they would have recognized it as one of his works.

Serena especially as there were drawings of almost all that she had asked him to create for her.

After Raphael wrote the specifics he required for this gadget he was about to create, he began to sketch its image. The drawing was based on the specifics he wrote, and how proficient he would be able to use them.

The sketch took Raphael about ten to fifteen minutes, and after he had drawn his new design, a smile hung on Raphael’s face.

“I’m going to the mall to get a few tools, are you coming?” Raphael stood from the seat and asked Gus.

Gus opened one of its eyes when it heard Raphael. There was no response or even the slightest bit of movement from it, but once Raphael opened the door and was about to walk out of the room, Gus flew quickly.

After getting the appropriate spot on Raphael’s shoulder, Gus shut his eyes close. And the both of them walked out of the room.

....

In an underground bunker, a woman walked around the room with panic written all over her face.

She placed her hand on her chin and, as she moved about the room, those ample bosom she possessed, bounced to her every movement.

While there were three men in the bunker with her, none of them dared to stare at her ample bosom that was apparently eyeballing gripping, and neither could they stare at that firm butt she had.

“Sonia, it’s going to be alright. We simply have to bury this, just like we have done to the rest, and it’s all going to be fine.” One of the men in the bunker muttered, trying to comfort the woman.

Sonia’s eyebrows furrowed when she heard the man. She then stared at him with a very deadly gaze that instantly brought sweats to appear on his forehead.

Suddenly, the door of the bunker was opened, and a man stepped into the bunker.

The man had brown hair, a short red beard, and was of medium stature. When he saw Sonia walking about the room, before pausing when she saw him, the man took a deep breath.

“How was it? Did you manage to figure out what exactly happened and who is behind this?!” As Sonia rushed towards the man, the question just kept coming out of her mouth.

“Say something!” Sonia yelled.

A second after Sonia’s loud voice rang out, the man shook his head. “I’m afraid we are unable to do anything about it, Sonia.”

“The public has gotten wind of the matter before our team could do anything about it. The government and the hero league as well, and as we speak they are already working on it.” The man said.

Sonia rubbed her hand across her long flaxen hair, and vertical wrinkles appeared between her eyebrows. She bit her red, soft lips and clenched her hands into a fist.

“This can’t be right... Who can be doing all this?!” Sonia exclaimed.

“First it was the Bass family, then we lost the burger queen corporation, the Garcia household, and several other groups. And now the Miller family is gone,” Sonia stated.

“It is clearly obvious that we are being targeted because these are people on the list,” Sonia said.

“Sonia, you’re thinking a little too far.” The man spoke, “The Bass family and the Miller family have made enemies all over the world, so it isn’t quite surprising that someone would go after them. And as for the burger queen, it was a change of ownership, nothing more.”

Sonia sneered when she heard the man who had just been spoken by the man.

“The burger queen was a change of ownership, but we lost a source of income. Don’t you think that was to cut off our hands?” Sonia said, “And the Miller family were framed for human trafficking.”

“Human trafficking!!!! The government and the heroes league would obliterate them, that I can assure you.”

“And yet, you say someone isn’t targeting us.” Sonia blurted.
