Chapter 671  Karaoke

The attendant, a teenager with messy hair and glasses, took Emma and Klaus to room four, which was at the end of a corridor decorated with photos of famous personalities who had visited the karaoke bar by chance. As they walked, the attendant couldn't help but look at them curiously, as if trying to remember where he knew them from. Klaus noticed the young man's expression and arched an eyebrow.

'Must be my imagination...' the attendant thought with a shy smile on his face for staring at them too long. "Here's room four. If you need more time, just increase it using the app. Have fun!" he said.

The attendant closed the door, leaving Emma and Klaus alone in the room. The karaoke room was a very cozy space. The walls were decorated with posters of iconic artists, and there was a large black leather sofa in the corner of the room, with a few puffs in the center. In the other corner, there was a small table with a drinks menu and a tablet for ordering food. In the real center of the room, a large television set was mounted on the wall, playing ambient music for the time being.

Emma made her way over to the sofa and sat down, watching Klaus with a playful smile. "So, Klaus, are you ready to show off your vocal skills to the world?" She said, crossing her legs.

Klaus laughed. "I'm not sure the world is ready for it, but I'm willing to give it a try."

He approached the order table and started looking at the drinks menu. "What would you like to drink, Emma?"

She thought for a moment before answering. "How about a fruit cocktail? They're usually refreshing."

Klaus placed the order on the tablet and soon a waiter appeared with the drinks. They toasted and sipped their cocktails, relaxing a little more. The tension in the car had eased substantially, replaced by a feeling of comfort and familiarity.

While they talked and drank, Klaus browsed through the music list on the tablet connected to the coffee table. "So, Emma, any songs on your mind? Any songs you've always wanted to sing in karaoke?" he asked.

Emma thought for a moment and then a mischievous smile appeared on her face. "Let's start with a relaxing song." suggested Emma, picking up the tablet and scanning the available songs. "Well, Klaus, there's a song I've always wanted to sing, but I've never had the chance. It's a classic from the 80s. Do you know 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' by Bonnie Tyler?"

Klaus laughed. "Of course I know it! My grandmother used to listen to it all the time." He joked.

They selected the song and waited anxiously for it to start. When the intro began to play, Emma got up from the sofa and began to sing enthusiastically. Her voice was powerful and emotional, and she gave herself completely to the song.

Klaus watched her, impressed by the passion she put into the performance.

When she reached the chorus, Klaus joined her, singing in harmony. His deep voice was a perfect match for hers, creating an incredible interpretation of the song. They had fun, letting the music guide them, and soon they were laughing and having fun like there was no tomorrow.

The song ended with one last dramatic chord, and Emma and Klaus received applause from the speakers. They laughed as they sat back down on the sofa, panting from the energy they had put into the performance.

"That was amazing, Emma," said Klaus, still smiling, "You have an incredible voice."

She blushed a little, thanking him. "And you're not far behind either, Klaus. Your voice is surprisingly good." She said, a little breathlessly, with her head resting on the sofa and then she rested her head on his shoulder.

"Do you want to continue that conversation?" He asked.

Without saying a word, she nodded.

Klaus smiled and turned her chin towards his face. Then, looking at her lips, he said:

"You confessed first, that was a surprise to me." He said with a slightly joking tone.

Emma raised her head and looked into Klaus' eyes, and a faint smile appeared on her face when he said it, as if he were a fool. Despite this, the tension between them and the silence that followed his song seemed filled with an inexplicable feeling. She could feel Klaus' breath mingling with hers, and for a moment, the outside world disappeared. It was just her and him, sharing this special moment.

"Emma, there's something I want to tell you."

"What is it, Klaus?" She asked, looking up at him.

He looked deeply into her eyes, seeking courage. "From the moment we met, something changed inside me. I can't get you out of my mind, I never could, and that night, at the end of the year, I tried to tell you how I felt, but I couldn't. You're amazing, Emma, and I'm so grateful to you. You're amazing, Emma, and I feel lucky to have the chance to spend this time with you today."

Emma felt her heart beat faster. Klaus' words were like a soft melody, and she found herself captivated by them. "Klaus, since the first time I saw Kaizen and then you, I've never stopped thinking about you. I also feel something special for you."

They were standing very close to each other, almost sharing the same breath. Klaus' eyes fell to Emma's lips and back to hers, as if asking for permission. He moved slowly towards her, their lips almost touching.

Emma felt her heart speed up even more. There was no more car to get in the way, there was no one around them and, for the first time, no emotional barrier either. This was the right moment. She wanted this as much as Klaus did and, just as before, her eyes closed instinctively. Soon, their lips finally met in a soft, sweet kiss. It was as if the outside world disappeared, leaving just the two of them there, lost in the heat of the moment.
