Chapter 738 Level 200

"... Delgron, if you are no longer useful for anything and are weakened, you will at least serve as fuel for me to become an Evolved." Kaizen declared.

Silence dominated the room, a brief pause before the storm.

Delgron, still immobilized by Kaizen's psychokinesis, felt a shiver run down his spine as he met the player's cold gaze. It was a gaze that penetrated beyond the surface of his skin, reaching the essence of his demonic soul. Fear began to creep into Delgron's heart, a sensation he rarely experienced as a demon.

Delgron's eyes quickly began to reflect the dread that was settling into his being, a silent agony carved into the frown lines of his face. There were few times he had felt such a feeling, and even fewer people who could have such an intense effect on Delgron as to make him afraid. At that moment, Kaizen's eyes were the scariest thing in the world for Delgron, because although he knew that at the start of the battle he was stronger than Kaizen, the same no longer applied, which meant that Kaizen had such an incredible ability to adapt that he surpassed him even though he was so much weaker.

Kaizen's monstrous ability to adapt had unknown potential for Delgron, and the fear of the unknown began to seep into his soul, and even the insolence he used to display in front of the players was gone.

Kaizen's eyes shone with a supernatural brilliance. He couldn't feel Delgron's fear, but he could see it, and this was the result of his ability called <Intimidate>, which caused Kaizen's power to be exponentially excited.

In a whisper, Kaizen spoke:

"You, who think you are so superior, now realize the abyss that is opening up before you. All your arrogance, your certainty that demons can do anything, is crumbling."

Delgron tried to keep his composure, but the naked truth of the situation began to seep into his mind. He was vulnerable, captured by a player whose skills exceeded his expectations. The smoke and dust of the battlefield mingled in the air, with all the scent of blood and sweat, mirroring Delgron's inner turmoil. His sardonic smile disappeared completely, replaced by the clearest expression of dread imaginable.

At the same time, the demon Azrakthar, still on the ground after Cephal's blow, was watching the scene with disguised disdain, even with blood dripping from his forehead.

"Kaizen, do you think that just because you're the Psyker you can challenge the established order? You're just an insignificant insect in the face of truly powerful beings." His voice echoed with a confidence that bordered on arrogance, a foolish confidence.

Unlike Delgron, who was tasting defeat and death, Azrakthar was so strong and so arrogant because of this that he was more like the main character in some cliché story. He thought he would never lose, that even though he was on the ground, bloodied and surrendered, he would still win. For Azrakthar, victory was not a question of if, but when.

Then Cephal grabbed Azrakthar by the hair and lifted him up, pointing him in Delgron's direction. "Don't you see, demon? Times are changing. The game is evolving, and Kaizen people are rewriting the rules. Pay attention, demon, no... all of you, players included, pay attention, because while you've been standing still in fear, Kaizen will show you where even an unevolved player can go."

Azrakthar's smile persisted, even in the face of imminent defeat. "You're all fools! Kaizen is just an insignificant glimmer in the coming eternal darkness!"

However, his smile of superiority faltered when he realized that something was not in line with his expectations. Kaizen, even without moving a muscle, pulled Delgron up and, in his eyes, Azrakthar sensed something sinister. Azrakthar's voice then rang out with a hint of uncertainty. "You won't make it... Delgron would never die to a worm like you! Wouldn't you, Delgron? Remember the times I trained you!"

Delgron looked out of the corner of his eye at Azrakthar, but at that moment Kaizen was squeezing his body so tightly with this invisible force that it was difficult even to breathe. Even so, Delgron desperately tried to articulate words, but his lips only uttered unintelligible mumbles. Kaizen, unperturbed, deepened his control, exploring the recesses of the demon's mind in agony.

Then, as if a switch had been flicked, Azrakthar's smile disappeared completely. His eyes, now empty of arrogance, met Kaizen's in a final flash of despair. The imminent reality unfolded before Azrakthar, and the fear he had tried to hide became visible.

Kaizen's grip reached its apex, and Delgron let out a choked cry as his whole body began to twist like a dirty floor cloth. The sound was swallowed up by Azrakthar's roar of rage and, in an instant, Delgron crumbled to ashes, as if he had never existed, right in front of the only one of his kind present.

Kaizen's gaze remained fixed on the area where the demon had once stood. The silence after Delgron's disappearance was momentary.

Azrakthar, still perplexed, asked:

"What have you done?"

Kaizen was looking in Azrakthar's direction, but his attention wasn't on the demon. He seemed busy looking at something else, something Azrakthar couldn't see.
