Chapter 883: Third Circle, Cerberus (Final Part)
Blood Lily flew toward Cerberus, her blood wings gleaming like rubies in the spectral light emanating from the runes. Her movements were graceful and fierce, a deadly dance that combined power and precision.
"Og'tharoz, control him!" she cried, her voice cutting through the cold air like a sharp blade.
Og'tharoz responded with a nod, his spectral hands of darkness gripping Cerberus's side heads even tighter as he roared in agony and fury.
Alina pulled on the chains on the left side with all her might, causing the runes to glow brightly. She felt arcane magic flow through her fingers, an almost tangible connection to the essence of the world.
The chains were now firmly attached, forming a magical barrier around the monster.
Andrew, on the other side, struggled against Cerberus' brutal strength. His armor pulsed with holy light, and he used every ounce of his strength to pull the chains from the right side.
The monster tried to break free, its side heads slapping against Og'tharoz's ghostly hands. Cerberus' tail whipped through the air, nearly hitting Andrew several times. But he didn't back down, his resolve unshakable.
"Jayaa! Now!"
Just then, two figures appeared out of nowhere, as if from an invisibility cloak.
Jayaa, with a surprisingly calm posture and focused eyes, appeared out of nowhere next to Xisrith.
This was Xisrith's new ability, a kind of mystical invisibility that allowed her to move without being seen, and now they were there, finally ready to play their crucial role.
"Jayaa, you know what to do," Xisrith said, his voice deep and firm.
Jayaa nodded and began to sing, his soft, melodious voice filling the frosty air.
With his bardic ability active, the song was an enchanting melody that seemed to echo off the surrounding mountains.
Immediately, Cerberus felt his eyes grow heavy, and so he roared in defiance, his eyes filled with fury. Enjoy exclusive content from m-v l'-NovelFire
Og'tharoz continued to mutter his arcane incantations, his spectral hands holding Cerberus' head in check.
Alina and Andrew each pulled on the chains with all the strength they could muster to keep Cerberus from attacking Jayaa and preventing him from carrying out the most important part of their plan.
"This isn't going to be easy," Kaizen muttered, panting.
Blood Lily, her blood wings still open, landed next to Jayaa and enveloped him and Xisrith with her blood wings, amplifying the sound and also protecting them from the blast of sound that came from the roar.
Jayaa's music was a classic bedtime song he had heard from his mother as a child.
Cerberus fought sleep, his head banging against the ghostly hands and magical chains. His roars were less intense now, more desperate.
Jayaa's song seemed to penetrate every fiber of his being, an irresistible melody that tried to overwhelm him.
Xisrith, ever vigilant, watched the monster's every move, ready to act if anything went wrong. His eyes shone with a predatory light, his posture that of someone prepared for any eventuality.
"We'll make it," Alina said, her hands still firmly on the chains. "Keep going, Jayaa. Don't stop."
Jayaa continued to sing, her voice rising and falling like the waves of the sea, each note an attempt to calm the beast. Cerberus' resistance waned with each passing moment, its eyes beginning to close. But it still struggled, a last attempt to free itself.
Taking advantage of this momentary weakness, Kaizen moved quickly. He and Bloody Lily, working in perfect synchronicity, attacked the heels of Cerberus' front legs, causing him to fall to the ground. Their swords flashed simultaneously as they slashed at the heels at the same time.
"Come on, Cerberus," Kaizen murmured. "Sleep."
Finally, Cerberus' roar faded to a low, tired groan. His eyes slowly began to close, Jayaa's song a relentless force that even the most powerful monster in hell could not resist.
Og'tharoz, Alina and Andrew held their positions, ready for any sign of resistance, but it seemed the monster was finally giving in.
"Don't relax yet," Xisrith said, his eyes still on the monster. "It might still try something."
But Cerberus lost the battle. Its eyes closed completely, and a last low roar escaped its mouth, almost like a grumble.
The giant creature finally fell into a deep sleep, its head resting heavily on the icy ground.
Jayaa finished her song, her voice fading into silence. Everyone was silent for a moment, listening only to the sound of the wind in the mountains.
"We made it!" said Alina, celebrating.
"Shhh!" Og'tharoz shouted, using his huge hands without realizing it.
Andrew released the chains, his armor still pulsing with holy light. "Yes, we did it." He whispered.
Og'tharoz dissipated his ghostly hands, exhausted but satisfied. "It was good teamwork."
Kaizen walked over to Jayaa and put his hand on her shoulder. "You did a great job. You all did."
A bead of cold sweat ran down Jayaa's face. "I didn't know if I was going to make it, but I'm glad I did."
Bloody Lily gave her brother a weak pat on the back and congratulated him as well. "You did good, little brother. I think you can be much more useful than you think."
Jayaa flashed a brief smile of embarrassment, but that smile soon turned into a fully confident expression. He raised his chin and said proudly:
"I know, we won thanks to me!"
His innocent statement drew laughter from some of the group, but Og'tharoz was always serious and focused.
"Guys, I think we'd better stop fooling around and get through the door while we still can. We don't know how long this song will have an effect on Cerberus."
Kaizen looked at his companions, his eyes shining with determination. "Og'tharoz is right. We can't afford to waste any time. Let's get through the door while Cerberus is asleep."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
As they surrounded Cerberus and stood before the gate, they realized how large it was.
Kaizen put his right hand against it and pushed, and the stone gate finally began to move.
A deep creak sounded as the door slowly opened, revealing an intense white light on the other side. The brightness was almost blinding.
"Let's go," Kaizen said, gesturing to the group.
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed behind them, and as they turned, they saw Cerberus slowly rising. The giant monster shook its three heads in confusion.
"I... I had a strange dream..." Cerberus' voice was a low growl that echoed through the air.
"Hurry!" shouted Xisrith, pushing the others through the gate. "Let's get out of here before he sees us!"
The group moved quickly through the gate, the intense white light blinding them for a moment.
