Secret Scion -
Chapter 97 -
Harry waited for the bald man and his underlings for about five hours. They should have been back by now, but there was no trace of them at all. No one had picked up his calls either.
The drunkenness he had from the red wine was gone, and he began to feel fearful.
Could it be that the bald man and the others had failed?
Even if they did fail, they should have at least called.
Harry was pacing back and forth anxiously when the doorbell suddenly rang.
Harry quickly opened the door, and the bald man was standing outside. However, he was covered in blood, and his clothes were also torn and rugged. Harry frowned and quickly asked, "What's going on? Where's Noelle? Don't tell me you couldn't even deal with a weak and powerless woman?"
The bald man said nothing with his head lowered. However, a cold voice came from not far away. "Who emboldened you to try and kidnap Noelle, Harry?"
Harry turned around instinctively. A figure appeared from the darkness, and it was none other than Asher.
"Fuck!" Harry screamed out angrily, and he wanted to quickly lock the door.
However, he was still one second too late. Hunter appeared out of nowhere and smashed the door with a kick. The power from the attack threw Harry right onto the floor.
"Hunter Larson, even you're Asher's dog now? And you're supposed to be the boss of Rollinsford's underground scene? Such shame!" Harry cried out despite the pain that he felt from his chest being brutally slammed by the door handle just now. He could feel that several of his ribs were already broken, and he dared not move.
"That's your problem. Speaking of which, you dare touch Master Crawford's woman? Seems like you've learned how to be daring but nothing else." Even though Hunter and Harry had interacted with each other in the past and could be considered friends, now that Harry was thinking of hurting Noelle and had crossed Asher's bottom line, Hunter did not dare to show any mercy when dealing with Harry.
Only at this time did Asher walk over slowly with his eyes coldly fixed on Harry. The latter could not help but shudder, but he still tried to put on a brave face and said, "Asher, others might be afraid of you, but I'm not! After my dad's been imprisoned, it's up to me to save my dad! Even though I didn't capture Noelle, I'll eventually succeed one day!"
"Oh, really? That means I better remove a time bomb like yourself, correct?" Asher said in a cold demeanor.
With Asher staring at him like that, Harry instinctively tried to crawl backward and fearfully said, "Asher, what are you doing? I'm warning you, you better not do anything reckless! I know that you have powerful backers, but I'm not someone that you can simply bully. This is Rollinsford, and the Browns aren't as simple as you think!"
When he heard that, Asher could not help but let out a huge laugh.
Even Hunter almost laughed out loud as he tried his best to maintain a stoic expression. He wondered if Harry's brain was even functioning. To think that he would speak of connections before someone like Asher? He had to be out of his mind.
"I'll leave this to you, Hunter. If you can't do it, leave it to Peter. Remember, I won't allow any threats against Noelle to exist in Rollinsford!" Asher said coldly.
"Don't worry, Master Crawford. I know what to do."
Harry was so scared that his face had turned pale, "Asher, what's the point of focusing on me? You should be looking for Rose. She's the one that came out with this plan. She's the one that wanted to take Noelle out. If you're really that good, why don't you exact your revenge on Rose?!"
"Rose?"
Asher frowned. He hesitated for a few seconds before turning and leaving.
Even if what Harry said was true, he could not deny the fact that he wanted to have vengeance on Noelle as well. Asher could not leave a ticking time bomb like Harry here, and so he must pay a hefty price for what he tried to do.
The next day.
When Noelle woke up, the rays from the sun were already shining through the window. She had drunk too much last night, so she had a thumping headache. She also felt quite weak. Only when she wanted to wake up did she realize that Candace was lying next to her as well. "Candy." Noelle gave Candace a push.
Only then did Candace wake up. When she saw that Noelle was already sitting up, she then asked, "Elle, are you alright? Both of us drank too much. We met some bad people when we left the karaoke. If it wasn't because of Phoebe who helped us, you would have been kidnapped by those men. To be honest, I didn't expect Phoebe to be quite masterful in combat. She didn't even break a sweat fighting those men..."
Noelle immediately cut Candace off and asked, "You're saying that Phoebe saved me?" "Yes." Candace then quickly said, "I asked her to save you though. Since you didn't ask her for help, you didn't lose any dignity at all."
However, from Noelle's perspective, Candace was simply trying to lie to herself. She sat there for a moment before getting up from the bed, asking, "You said those men came for me?" "Yes. Elle, have you offended anyone when you're doing business?" Candace said as she also got out of bed and stretched. She then remembered something and said, "Oh, right. When Phoebe was sending us home, she seemed to have given Asher a call. If you want to know who's targeting you, you can replace out by asking him. I didn't go home the entire night, so my family might be getting worried. I should leave soon."
After sending Candace out, Noelle poured a glass of water for herself as she sat in the living room. She was having a bad headache, so she decided not to go to work. After drinking the glass of water, she then went back to bed.
When she woke up in the afternoon, Noelle ate something simple and then gave Asher a call. This time, the call went through after a few rings.
"I heard that Phoebe saved me last night? I'm thankful," Noelle said.
"She's the one who saved you, why are you thanking me?"
Noelle then said, "That's because she's your fiancée. Is it wrong for me to say that?"
When Asher heard that, he became irritated. It seemed like because he was drunk at The Wet
Stone and had slept at Phoebe's place a few days ago, Noelle already believed that they had slept together.
"If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up now."
"Wait," Noelle quickly said. "I want to know who's targeting me."
Originally, Asher did not want to tell Noelle about it. However, he hoped that this would make Noelle remember this, and so he said, "Harry Brown."
With that, he then hung up the call.
For some reason, once he hung up the call, all the bravery that Noelle had faked instantly dissipated. Even though she sounded unconcerned when she called, in truth, her eyes were already wet.

The next day, Hunter gave Asher a call. Originally, he wanted to cripple Harry, but Harry decided to leave Rollinsford and work outside the country. In the end, Hunter let Harry go and bought a ticket for him that very night. He even personally sent him onto the plane so that he could prevent Harry from pulling up any tricks.
Hunter knew that Asher might be unhappy with how he decided to do this. That was why he called Asher so early in the morning to apologize.
However, Asher simply said he got it and hung up the call.
Everything in Rollinsford happened as Asher had expected. Rose was forced to leave Rollinsford and that made all the households that were tense completely give up in resisting him. With Hunter successfully joining the Hoffmans, everyone knew that the true reason that Hunter did that was so he could become the Hoffmans' patriarch and control the entire Hoffman household.
In the next few days, second and third-rate households began to show their willingness to side with Asher. If he were to be frank, these households wanted to join at the last minute before the door of opportunity completely closed.
As the Crawford's influence in Rollinsford was becoming more and more powerful, allying with Asher was the wisest decision. It was much easier for them to profit under the protection of a much more powerful force.
Meanwhile, Asher did not reject any of the offers. There would come a time when these small households would be of use.
When he was free, Asher also spent time looking at the Metamorphosis fighting style. According to Aiden, it was a very powerful fighting style. Asher's current objective was to increase his power as quickly as possible. Only then would he have the power to defend himself when he was back at the Capital City.
