Chapter 384 – The bottle of water slipped from Huo Sishen’s hand when he heard the caption. (3)

“Right, right. Let’s look at the work first.”

“Yeah, let’s start from our newest member’s work.”

“Haha, we have not had a new member in such a long time! I can’t wait. I wonder how good she is?”

As they spoke, Siyi had already slowly unrolled the painting in his hands.

All paintings are rolled from left to right so, when it was unrolled, audiences would be able to appreciate it from right to left.

As Siyi unrolled the painting carefully, the view of the imposing mountains also seemed to be revealed at the same time.

The majestic-looking rivers, the crisscrossing pine and cypress trees, and the jagged boulders immediately brought everybody into a very vivid nature scene.

Shortly, they saw a woman in red traditional garb quietly looking at the waterfall at the foothill. The rim of her white hat blocked her side profile and, standing next to the unyielding boulders, her garb looked to be softer and her beauty could put fish and birds to shame.

Next to her stood a child with two buns on their head.

As though they didn’t have an appreciation for the beautiful scenery in front of them, the child was look up, smiling, and asking something. There was even a fishing pole sitting there crooked next to them.

Next to the two of them, there was a small table and a half-played game of chess on it. Along side that was also tea pot and three small cups.

These two simple and interesting characters thoroughly expressed the kind of affection between a mother and her child. It even hinted at their anticipation of waiting on someone else to join them in appreciating the scenery in front of them.

When this scroll was unrolled to the left end, the area and the mountains seemed to be covered in fog.

At the very end of the scroll, there seemed to be a hint of some peaks hidden behind the fog and the rest were covered by the fog completed. It made the viewers wonder what else was there hiding in the fog...

“Any feedbacks, fellow masters?”

Siyi couldn’t help but reminded them when he noticed that everybody was stunned.

As soon as he started talking, he received a stare from the old man who said he had back pain a little while earlier.

“Be patient, young man.”

Siyi was a layman. He could only tell that the painting was pretty, but not much beyond that.

The old man seemed to like to lecture. He pointed at the area that was seemingly left empty intentionally and resigned to pointing it out to him. “You can’t rush art appreciation. These things take time.

“Look over here. This blank area isn’t just a simple blank area. There is this slash over here that effectively divided up the painting. It fully conveys how imposing and domineering this mountain behind the fog was. Impressive, right?!

“The blank spot speaks a thousand words. I never would have thought of doing this. You learn something new every day.”

Siyi looked over at where he was pointing. Yeah, he supposed so.

Before he could echo his agreement, another old man next to him started, “Lao Lei, you are only half correct. Look at the caption on here. It was... so well written!”

After he had pointed it out, all of the other’s attention was drawn over there.

[The old wife drew the chess board on a piece of paper; the young child made a hook for fishing out of sewing needle.]

Picture: This came up when I googled the poem. Please note that the man was NOT in our Shishi’s painting. I repeat, no man in the picture.

Two lines of wording. The calligraphy was round, smooth, steady, and delicate. The calligraphy seemed traditional and simple on first look but, when looked at carefully, one would notice that not only were there variations between each character but they also, somehow, all fit nicely together into a big picture!

“Simply incredible!”

“Wow, a true masterpiece!”

“Not bad. Where did Lao Huang replace this person?”

“With this calligraphy. I think she could go to the calligraphy association and best a lot of them!”

Gu Shishi was holding onto her cellphone.

When Siyi pointed the camera at the painting, the entire painting could also been seen from inside of the car.

As the old man recited the caption –

The bottle of water that Huo Sishen had just pulled out from the refrigerator inside the car fell to the floor!
