Chapter 594: By the Lake

The two of them went down the mountain and arrived at the lake. This lake was the one Lu Zhen had seen in the morning. It was embedded in the town like a sapphire.

There were wooden seats by the lake. Lu Zhen and Jiang Nan sat down. The two of them looked at the scenery quietly for a while. Lu Zhen suddenly thought of something and asked curiously, “Aunt, did my mother come to this town back then?”

Lu Zhen remembered that Jiang Fei had said that after Jiang Nan and Lu Zhen’s mother met, Lu Zhen’s mother had even gone to Country B to visit Jiang Nan when she was on leave.

Jiang Nan shook his head. “1 didn’t live here back then. I lived in a port city by the sea.’

Lu Zhen looked at the lake not far away. After a moment of silence, she asked,

“What kind of person is my mother?”

Jiang Nan thought for two seconds. “Your father is a big star and the second young master of the Jiang family. When he wanted to marry your mother, many people in the family objected. They probably felt that your mother was not worthy of your father.”

Lu Zhen looked at Jiang Nan seriously.

Jiang Nan continued, “But in my opinion, between the two of them, your father needs to look up to your mother.”

Lu Zhen did not expect her aunt to give her mother such high praise.

Jiang Nan leaned back in his chair, smiled, and said, “Actually, I don’t have to go back to your parents’ wedding. It’s just that I quite like your mother’s series of designs, so I’m a little curious about what kind of person she is. In addition, I want to ask her to help me design an accessory.”

Lu Zhen raised her eyebrows in surprise and asked, “Then did my mother design the accessory you wanted in the end?”

Jiang Nan nodded, untied the silk scarf around her neck, took off a necklace, and handed it to Lu Zhen.

Lu Zhen took the necklace. It was embedded with tourmaline and gray pearls of different sizes. She instantly guessed the theme of the necklace: “Mermaid Tears”. She returned the necklace to Jiang Nan and sighed. “It’s so beautiful. It’s like an underwater treasure brought to the surface of the sea by a mermaid.’

Jiang Nan did not take the necklace. She smiled and said, “It’s for you.”

Lu Zhen was stunned for a moment before shaking her head. “Since you asked my mother to design this necklace, it must have a special meaning to you. You should keep it.”

“You’re my niece. You came all the way from Country Z to Country B. I don’t

have anything to give you. You’re the daughter of the Jiang family and a

celebrity yourself. You don’t lack fame or benefits. This necklace was designed by your mother. Take it as a memento,”

As Jiang Nan spoke, she slowly stood up, took the necklace from Lu Zhen’s hand, and put it on her. Lu Zhen stroked the pendant of the necklace and looked into Jiang Nan’s clear eyes. She smiled gently. “Alright, I’ll accept it.

Thank you, Aunt.”

The two of them stayed for a while longer before leaving the lake.

Lu Zhen stayed in the town until Christmas. Although the town was small, the festive atmosphere was very strong. On the day of the festival, Lu Zhen and

Jiang Nan bought a lot of ingredients and made a sumptuous

Chinese-Western mixed banquet. They even invited a few neighbors who lived nearby.

Lu Zhen was not famous overseas. The people who came to Jiang Nan’s house did not know her and only sighed at how beautiful Lu Zhen was. After dinner, Lu Zhen returned to her room. She was leaving tomorrow. She had already asked Jiang Nan if she wanted to return to Country Z with her.

“Don’t you miss home?”

Lu Zhen always felt that no matter how independent and indifferent a person was, they would more or less have some nostalgia that was difficult to completely dispel. Perhaps it was not that Jiang Nan did not miss home, but that home in reality was no longer the “hometown” in her memories.

As expected, Jiang Nan rejected Lu Zhen’s suggestion and only let Lu Zhen rest well at night to avoid being too tired by the trip tomorrow.

Lu Zhen lay on the bed and turned on her cell phone. She replied to Jiang Fei’s message and sent him a few photos she had taken with Jiang Nan. In the photo, Lu Zhen smiled at the camera, while Jiang Nan just looked at the camera quietly.

“You look a little like your aunt when she was young,” Jiang Fei replied.

Lu Zhen smiled and chatted with Jiang Fei for a while. Then, she opened another chat box and replied to Song Jia’s message. When Song Jia saw the photos of the banquet sent by Lu Zhen, he sighed. “It’s so sumptuous. Did you make the desserts?”

“How do you know?”

“You like to add a lot of little touches when you make dessert..”
