Chapter 724 - Flirting With A Demoness
Scarlet House, Ocien.
The next day arrived…
"Is something going on?" Max asked as he looked at the servant. He could clearly hear a lot of commotion going outside.
"Sir, it's nothing important. There has just been a little trouble, nothing much," The Servant politely replied as he served the breakfast, and then went out.
"Little trouble?" Naze shook his head with a laugh. He knew that an Elder of the Scarlet House being killed definitely couldn't be categorized as a little trouble.
"I wondered if we would get an invitation," Max muttered as he ate the breakfast.
Well, he didn't have to wait for long.
He clearly felt a call from the Demonic clone. It was Talia.
When he arrived at her chambers, he saw her sitting there with a frown on her face. Travis was present there as usual.
"What's the matter my lady? Who dares to make a mess of that beautiful face of yours?" Max asked with a smile, he clearly had the intention to flirt with her.
After all, Travis's face looked extremely pleasing when he tried to do so.
And, this was just the start, he would make this guy feel much worse.
Talia looked at Max. But, she didn't pay attention to his words. She knew he was deliberately doing it. And, there was no use in getting into an argument with it. This b*stard clearly knew his value after all.
"There has been a little trouble last night. I am sure you would have heard it by now," She said while looking at Max as she crossed her legs.
The old man Sun didn't try to hide the fact that he had killed the Elder of the Scarlet House. It was obvious if everyone in the Ocien knew about it. Hell, it was probably being discussed in the street right now.
The matter really had gotten big, and obviously the Fourth Elder of Scarlet House was labelled as the culprit and the bag guy in it.
"Fourth Elder was one of my men. I am afraid that person who had killed him is already aware of the things happening behind the scenes. I want you to speak out in support of me if time seeks it."
"What could I possibly do in the matters of your territory?" Max asked in confusion, "I don't think my word will count at all."
"It's fine, what I count isn't your words. But, the fact that you have Edwinson as your last name." Talia shook her head.
If she could get someone from the mainline of a Noble House to speak in her favor, it was equivalent to the family speaking for her.
"Do you really need my help? I don't think you are that weak.." Max looked at her. If he went by the logic with this situation, this lady would have gone down if he was no longer here. That definitely wouldn't happen.
"Shouldn't you show me your loyalty?" Talia asked as she looked at Max.
"It hurts me, can't you see loyalty in these pure eyes of mine.." Max took a step forward and leaned on her desk.
Travis, who was standing, was shaking in anger. If his mother hadn't asked him to control his anger before Max's arrival, he really would have dived in by now.
"I can. That's the reason I am asking you to do it." Talia continued.
Max smiled at her, but cursed inwardly.
How the hell could he not understand her train of thought?
She just wanted to show all of her enemies that she had one extra supporter now. But, unfortunately for her, that wasn't going to happen.
"Sure, will I get any reward though? I mean you should be rewarding people who work hard," Max said with a meaningful smile.
Talia's mood sank a bit, even though she didn't show it on her face. She was only tolerating Max because she had invested a lot in him, if not, he would be dead by now.
Well, even if she was in such a state, one could imagine the state of her son.
"You b*stard!! Ho-'' Travis hadn't even completed his sentence when he felt the whole world spinning.
"Pa!"
A slapping noise resounded across the room, and Travis turned around and crashed onto the floor with a swollen cheek.
"How many times do I have to say it? Insulting a Queen's Knight is equivalent to insulting her." Max looked at him, and sighed. It was as if he was really tired of it, but just had to do his job.
"Anyway, I will do it." He turned his head towards Talia, and nodded, "As for rewards, I can't ask my queen for it. But, if you are interested in giving me some, I won't refuse."
"Do you know you are going overboard..." Talia suddenly spoke as she let out a dense amount of killing intent.
Even Max felt the hairs on his body rise.
It clearly said that she was going to kill him.
But, he didn't let fear take over. He knew his value, or should he say he knew how valuable royal blood was. She wouldn't be willing to let it go to waste.
And, yet she was trying to use this method to try to convey that he was just another disposable pawn. Max knew if he bowed down to her now, it would be over. He would be forced into a lower position.
"Overboard?" Max smiled at her, and didn't back down in front of that killing aura. Instead he took a step closer and leaned even close to her on the desk.
"I think you are wrong here, I was just smitten by your beauty from the moment I saw you. I can't just control it, you know. And, seeing this guy.....you could understand my feelings. How could I not get angry?" He asked while pointing at Travis.
"Do you think this will allow you get away with everything and I won't kill you?" Talia asked as all of her aura burst forth and crashed down on Max with killing intent.
Luckily for him, he never was afraid of pressure due to his immunity. After all, she was not at that level.
"Kill me? Even that might not be bad if it's by your hands.." Max smiled even in that situation.
Talia frowned, but then retracted her aura. If someone could still remain calm in such a situation, it could only mean that person either had some kind of trick or had stronger will power and believed in his words.
"Leave, and do as told. And, I won't tolerate this next time." She gave Max a warning, and then let him off.
"Mom! How can you let him go?!" Travis complained as he looked at Talia.
"I know he can't be fully trusted, but we need him for now." She calmly stated, but there was clearly some drop in her vigilance.
After all, even if her cautious nature asked her to be careful, she had pride in her beauty as well.
She wouldn't be surprised if someone really fell for her.. Besides, there wasn't a lack of such people around her.
