Chapter 774 - Secrets
Zen House, Zeal City.
Four days before the Ishtar Competitions….
Zen's were one of the smaller forces among the noble houses. They were one of the later ones, and hence were weaker than the others houses. But, if asked about growth, then they sure had a lot of potential. Not to mention, every generation of them had seen one or two extraordinary geniuses.
"It's strange…" Felix, aka Bahamut, was currently snooping around the ancestral grounds of their House. This place was generally closed, and opened once a year when they were cleaned and the people who had passed away were remembered.
But, Bahamut surely had found something different here this time.
He had actually seen some shadows entering and leaving the Ancestral place. He previously had no knowledge about this, but ever since Max had told him that there seemed to be something about his family that Bahamut himself seemed to be unaware of, he had all gone into a detective mode.
He would unturn every stone if needed, but he definitely was going to replace what was going on.
"I should get going, the patrol guards should be passing nearby any moment," Bahamut muttered in a low voice, and then left.
On his way back, he came across several people, and his acting like a spoiled child sure was marvelous. No one in their wild dreams seemed to have any idea about this devious child's true thoughts.
"Hmmn…" On returning to his own room, Bahamut sure was surprised.
His transmitters and spy cams had captured something very interesting. He hurriedly opened his laptop to see what was going on.
The footage showed two people talking in the Lord's chamber.
Yes, this little devil was spying on his father.
It was impossible for him to spy in person as it would take a second for them to notice someone's presence. But, what about devices? They had no mana signatures, and surely were difficult to replace.
Secondly, it was unlikely for them to suspect such a method being used to spy on them. After all, for something like this to happen, the intruder would have to enter the Lord' chamber, and plant all things.
Was it that easy to get into the Lord's chamber?
Hell no, only the most trusted people were allowed in. And, all in the presence of the Lord himself. Without his presence the room was always locked, at least most of the time. Aside from that, there was heavy security around.
So, was it possible for any intruder to come inside and plant those things?
No, unless the person was a little harmless kid who just wanted to see his father, and acted all innocent while planting every spying device right in front of his father's eyes.
That basically, was the situation here.
…
Lord's Chamber..
The two people currently in the room included an Old man with white hairs, and an aged looking face. Against him, sat a middle aged man. He still looked to have that youthful spirit, and was probably around his 40s or 50s.
The middle aged man was the current Lord of the Zen House, Fergus Zen. And, as for the older man, he was his father, and the former lord.
"What is it?" the old man asked with a calm look.
"You approved Faryl's request this time. Is it really fine?" Fergus asked with a little frown on his face.
"There is nothing to worry about. We have already taken the necessary step. No one will be able to tell anything about it. So, there is no problem if he wants to go all out, and compares himself to his peers from the Ancient Families. Not to mention, he is the one representing all our young ones who had held themselves back for all these years. Letting him get a bit loose surely wouldn't hurt," The Old man replied with a smile. "Not to mention, this fake peace won't last longer, we will soon have to resurface.."
Fergus nodded in understanding.
"How has Kevin been doing?" the Old man asked with smile.
"He has made friends out there. There hasn't been any outbreak in the past years. It seemed that he has gotten over it," Fergus replied.
"That's good..." The Old man nodded.
"Father...I have been recently thinking that its time for Felix." Fergus suddenly brought out the topic, but his father immediately shook his head.
"I can't understand why we are not letting Felix practice our origin arts. Isn't it the time that we release the seal on him. He is already so talented, I think he will shine once he regains his true power," Fergus was really confused.
"You are right, but have you seen that brat. He is still so childish unlike his brother at that age. Yet infuriatingly, his talent surpassed everyone else. But, that doesn't mean that we can let him do things. After all, it is very likely that an idiot won't hold his mouth shut."
"That's true, but he is still a child, father.." A parent definitely couldn't see their child's shortcoming so easily.
"Yes, exactly. Let him mature first..." The Old man nodded.
…
Bahamut sat on his bed with a dark face as the conversation finally ended.
He now knew why the secrets were not shared with him. It was because he was a bit too damn good at his acting.
"It seems that my family is not as simple as I thought it to be until now.." Bahamut muttered as a strange glow flashed through his eyes.
'Brother is going to go all out this time? I want to see what is so special about him that I haven't been able to see until now..' He was certainly interested in it now.
A second later, he called Uncle Giant and asked him to book tickets for his departure. Now all that was left was to convince his parents for permission to leave. He was sure he would get it as long as Uncle Giant tagged along.
Of course a bit of tears, here and there might be necessary.
And, his plan unexpectedly went very well. There was not as much resistance from his father's side that he had expected, and the tears had only to be shed in front of his mother.
As Bahamut was packing his stuff to leave, tomorrow morning, a person sneaked into his room.
And, the guards around acted as if they hadn't seen him.
"Do you need anything?" Bahamut already seemed to have sensed his presence, and then slowly turned around to look at the familiar figure with white hairs.
It was Victor, a person once known as the genius in the Edwinson House.
"I heard you are going to Ishtar?" Victor asked with a serious look on his face.
"Yeah.." Bahamut nodded with his little face.
"Take me with you, I have some advice to give to my former comrade..." Victor said as a cold glint flashed through his eyes.
