The Beginning of The End -
Chapter 21
I'm left alone in Ryker's bedroom, my entire body shaking in fear and apprehension of the mating ceremony. I had tried to open the door so I could go and replace Miya, but it was locked. Though I wasn't sure why I expected them to leave it open, I was their prisoner after all, they didn't have to let me roam free; and I suspected it would be a long time before they trusted me enough to leave me completely alone.
I could hear the vampire guards talking in hushed voices, and whilst I didn't know what they were saying, I doubted it was anything good.
I looked around the room several times, and even showered in the large bathroom, but there was nothing else to do but wait for my end.
Would Ryker and Maddox really make me immortal? How would that even work?
I didn't know if I could cope with them for one lifetime, let alone eternity. I didn't think I would ever be able to forgive them for what they have done to the world, they're responsible for millions of deaths, including my family. In fact, many families had been destroyed when the world ended because of the Great Dragon king.
But now things were changing again, they weren't killing everyone they came across, they save some and use them as servants or workers in their homes. They'll keep enough of us around to do what they don't want to, the rest they don't need.
Everyone I knew had gone from being equals to lessor beings, or they were killed.
But I was special? Fuck that! I didn't want to be their damned mate.
I would rather they have killed me when they came to the farm.
But I was thankful that Miya was alive and I would do my best to help her anyway that could and for now that meant mating with the very creatures who destroyed everything that was good about the world.
I jumped when the door opened, a strange woman coming in with a rail of gowns, two other young girls following her with boxes. The woman was a black haired vampire, her eyes blood red. She was slender, but the purple gown she wore was hugging every one of her curves. I didn't get a good look at the girls and they dropped the boxes and ran out of the room.
"Who are you?" I ask, stepping away from her when she approached.
She looks at me from head to toe, tutting. "You can certainly tell that you are from the outside lands." She scoffs, "I certainly have my work cut out for me."
I push up my shield, not trusting the rude cow. "Why are you here?" I demand. "Who sent you!"
"Who do you think fae? The king sent me to get you ready for the ceremony." She shakes her head as though I'm a stupid child. "At least you have pretty brown eyes."
"I don't need help. I'm fine." I snap, crossing my arms.
She laughs, actually laughs at me. "Honey, your clothes are torn, covered in blood and you have no socks or shoes. Of course you need my help."
"Regardless, I don't want you here." I shrug, trying to seem unbothered by her words.
It wasn't my fault that they didn't give me any change of clothes.
"Alright, I'll just tell the king that you wouldn't cooperate. I'm sure he'll gladly take it out on that human girl." The black haired B*tch laughs, her voice cruel and taunting. She turns away, walking back towards the door as I panic, I can't let them hurt Miya. I instantly lower my shield. "Wait!" I call out. "I will cooperate."
She stops, her red eyes dull with fury. She didn't like me and I certainly didn't like her. "then I better not hear another complaint from you, or I will leave and tell the king." She walks back towards me, forcing me to look at her as she grabs my chin. "Do you understand Fae? Because I won't warn you again."
"I understand." I nod awkwardly, hating her already.
They always think they are better than everyone else. I hate them. I despise them all.
She nodded her head, "I'm glad we have come to an understanding."
I stood in the centre of the room awkwardly as she held gowns against my chest, checking to see if they were suitable, but I hated all of them. Most were too revealing, too short, or looked very tight.
I hadn't even worn a dress before the world ended, let alone now, why were they going to do much trouble for a prisoner they were going to force into mating them? Couldn't they just get it over with already?
"I'm sure that a blue one would be best, but I can't decide." The woman murmurs to herself, once again looking over my entire body in disgust. "Girl." She calls, snapping her fingers in front of my face. "Purple or blue. Decide."
She holds up two different dresses, the purple one had half sleeves and a low neckline, sparkles around the waist and a slit up the side. It would clearly show off my underwear, and the entirety of my legs. The blue one on the overhand had a higher neckline, different coloured sparkles around the waist and breasts, the hem was short of course, but there was no slip up the side.
"I guess the blue one?" I stutter, not sure if I was making the right decision.
"Ok, blue it is." Mrs vampire laughed, throwing the purple one to the side.
She helps me slide into the gown, the material glued to me like a second skin, she pushed me in front of a mirror and smiled, the first time I had seen such a look from her. But I could see why, the dress made my hair and eyes pop, my pale skin seeming to almost glow against the gentle blue of the dress.
"We will do your hair, but no makeup. It will probably run anyway." Mrs vamp states, nodding her head towards a chair.
I take the silent command and sit on the chair, watching in the mirror as she twists my hair into a side braid, leaving some hair loose around my face.
I looked beautiful, it was the cleanest I had been in years, and the most dressed up. But
I wasn't excited for the reason behind it, I didn't want to be mated to either Maddox
or Ryker. Though I didn't really have a choice. I couldn't let Miya die because I'm stubborn. It wouldn't be fair to her.
I promised to protect her whenever I could, so that is what I will do.
